Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath. Sleeps 6-8. Snowmobile right from the front door!

Whether you're looking for romance, a family get-a-way, or an adventurous fishing, snowmobiling, or ATV trip, this is the place for you! This charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath home is located in Last Chance, less than a block from one of the premier fishing areas on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. It is also within driving distance of West Yellowstone and the West Entrance to Yellowstone Park.

Dubbed "Grandma's Play House" by our grandchildren, it is a favorite retreat for our family in all seasons. The interior of the cabin is clean and cozy with pine tongue & groove throughout. The main floor has an open living area, kitchen and bath with nice tiled shower. Wifi and Dish Network are available, along with a DVD/VHS player. We have a variety of movies you can watch. This room has a queen sized hide-a-bed. Dishes and pots and pans are provided, along with all the usual small kitchen appliances. Modern large appliances make meal preparation and clean-up a snap. There is an apartment sized washer and dryer in the hallway that you are welcome to use.

This is a two level home with the bedrooms and an open area upstairs. There is a television and DVD Player upstairs. A toy box filled with toys adds to the attraction for children. We also have a play pen if you need it. There is a Queen Bed and a Double Bed in the Bedrooms. 2 Single Beds and a Futon are located in the open loft area.

There is a Campchef with grill box, picnic table, and fire pit for your use. Plenty of parking for your vehicles and trailers.

You will be within walking distance of the Henry's Fork River and "Mountain Mayhem", an ATV, drift boat, snowmobile rental business. We have year round road access. Ride your 4-wheeler or snowmobile right from the house. One of the main trails running through Island Park is near the house. There is no need to trailer your toys unless you want to.

Don't Miss Mesa Falls. Go Horseback Riding at Harriman State Park. Visit Big Springs. You can rent a raft at Mack's Inn, and float the river. Finish off your day with a show at "Mack's Inn Play House" for a wonderful meal and good, clean comedy. Take a day and travel to Quake Lake and Virginia City in Montana. Before you leave the area, don't miss driving to Sawtelle Peak for views and vistas not to be forgotten.

It is about 30 minutes to West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park. Many of our past guests have stayed at the cabin, traveled into the park for the day, then returned to the cabin in the evening. The cabin is a great place to return to, throw a steak on the grill, and watch the sun go down.

Expect a true western experience when staying at Grandma's Play House. We are a family of hunters and photos of animal trophies taken and big game mounts are in our home. If you will find this offensive we respectfully request that you rent from someone else.

Sorry, out of respect for non-pet renters, pets are not allowed.

About Wendy Sears

We are the Sears from Preston, which is located in the south east corner of Idaho. When we purchased the building in 2007, it was just a shell. Some sheet rock had been installed, but that was about it. During the summer of 2008, we pulled our trailer up and with the help of our sons spent nearly every weekend working on the cabin to get it habitable. Some of the sheet rock came down, some of the sheet rock upstairs we left (and should have pulled down). One son is an electrician and he and his son did all of the electrical work. Another son built the beautiful kitchen cabinets. All our boys helped with nearly every other facet of the construction. It has been a family project and labor of love and while it is has many imperfections, and is, in fact, still a work in progress in some areas, we love it and hope you will love it too.

My family are all avid hunters and the cabin is filled with photos of the animals they have hunted. If you are offended by hunting, this is not the cabin for you.

Why Wendy Sears chose Yellowstone

Our family has always enjoyed traveling to Island Park for vacation. We often came up when our boys were small to go camping and fishing or to explore Yellowstone. We initially purchased this building as an investment, with the idea that we would finish it and resell it. Somehow, during the building process, there was a bonding that took place between our family and the house. It isn't just a house. It is a home filled with memories of birthday parties, Memorial Day Vacations, and New Year's Celebrations. One day while at the cabin with our family, I commented to my son, who incidentally lives 5 miles from me, that is was pretty funny that we had to travel 200 miles from home to spend time together. We do things at the cabin, as a family, that we don't take the time to do at home. "Grandma's Play House" has become a prized possession that we hope will stay in our family for generations to come.

What makes this cabin unique

We Love the Location of Our Cabin. Last Chance is a Great Place to Stay. It Isn't As Crowded As Some of the Other Areas in Island Park, Yet We Have a Grocery Store Close and Can Even Run 1/2 Mile Up to Buffalo Run for "perkies Pizza" When We Don't Feel Like Cooking. We Drive the Atv's and Snowmobiles Right Out of the Garage and Onto the Trail. We Love Visiting Mesa Falls and Taking the Road to the Top of Sawtelle Peak. We Love Being Just a Short Walk from the River. We Like to Take Walks in the Morning Or Evening and Watch the Deer Grazing Along the Roads and River. We Often See Moose Tracks in Our Yard, and Occasionally Are Fortunate Enough to Actually See the Moose Standing in Them! We Love Going On Evening Drives in Our Suv Along the Many Forest Service Roads and Watching for Wildlife. We Love Watching the Swans in the Winter As They Swim On the River. Our Cabin is Centrally Located to Everything We Love to Do. There is Never "nothing to Do" While We're at the Cabin. the Tv Seldom Gets Turned On. It's an Idyllic Escape from the Rest of the World.

Awesome vacation cabin. Plenty of room for two families. Kitchen and laundry facilities save costs

  • 5 of 5

This place is fantastic!! The decor is ideal for a country western atmosphere. Lots of room for families with children. Close to Yellowstone Park and several other attractions. We were there in the summer and the temperature was 20 degrees lower than in the city from where we came (90s). We have a timeshare and have stayed in many places from California to Florida to Pennsylvania and this is one of, if not the best place, we have stayed in. We were charged a lower rate than any of the others. Great location and quiet. We never heard any noise or sounds from outside or neighbors. The full kitchen made it nice to be able to fix meals and not have to go out everyday for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The laundry facility is nice when that is needed. Especially when you have little children. We loved our stay.
