About the property

Great For Couples Or A Family!

This 9 year old beautiful home is just like new with a King size bed on the main level and a big loft area that includes a Queen bed and 2 Twin beds.

This Pike River/Pike bay inlet property has a nice private dock with a sitting/fishing bench where you are able to sit, fish or relax.Fishing is closed on the Pike River during the month of May for spawning, but access to the lake is open. You are welcome to park your boat at the dock. We do not recommend that Fiberglass boats /or any other boats over 19' navigate up the river due to the current and fluctuation of depth caused by rain, evaporation and wind. By boat it takes around 7-10 minutes to navigate out to Pike Bay and that is the same amount of it Takes to get to a couple of good concrete launch ramps that can put you in different bays on the East side of Lake Vermilion for Fishing or just cruising around.

The fire pit area has plenty of seating and is only a stones throw away from the dock. The large deck has a patio table, new gas grill and a small fire pit if you like to sit out at night and enjoy the fresh air. The inside of the house has a full kitchen that includes a( Keurig 2.0 coffeemaker , Primo 5 gallon water dispenser, 4 slice bagel toaster and a large slow cooker). Also a full bathroom with tub/ shower and a laundry room for your use. The house has central A/C with 3 separate units. The large propane fireplace has a safety screen on it to keep hands from touching the glass and above that you'll find a nice 40" High Definition LCD TV with Dish Network HD satellite service. A DVD player is also connected for those rainy days.

Location is key for this vacation rental. You are less than a half mile from a large gas station, convenient store with drive thru bait service that includes a new Liquor store.

Lake Vermilion is the 5th largest inland lake in Minnesota at 40,000 plus acres with over 350 islands and 1,200 miles of shoreline that makes it one of Minnesota's Top Multi-Species lakes. In the lake you will find the following Species-Walleye, Northern Pike, Bass, Crappies and of course Muskies. Fall Crappie fishing is good right off the dock.

A Good Stay

  • 4 of 5

We had a very good stay at Bruce and Mary's cabin. Bruce gave us a tour and is appreciated. The cabin is very clean and have mostly all we need (we had to buy bath soap but that's about it). Having said that, I deduct a star because we paid 864.15 for 4 nights. Having stayed there now, I feel that that's too expensive. We had a beachfront property rented in Hawaii for almost the same price. The cabin's location is too close to the road (you can hear constant road noise, it gets quiet at night) and the waterfront is murky and has current that's not conducive for canoeing (especially with a child). We still recommend it nevertheless -- we just had higher expectations of the location. Thank you so much.

Very nice cabin right on the water

  • 5 of 5

Bruce was very helpful before we even left for the cabin. He called me to make sure we knew that we didn't really need to bring anything other than ourselves and clothes. Mary met us as we arrived and gave us any instructions that we may need. Very clean and tidy cabin. There were 4 of us there for fishing and slept all of us pretty comfortably. Bonus was some of our best fishing was right off their dock.

Great Spot!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this place for a guys' golf trip. 7 minutes from The Wilderness and 35ish from the two Giants Ridge courses. Property is kept up well and includes satellite TV. Kind of small for 4 guys, but we made it work. Excellent value for the money. Bruce is very easy to work with. Thanks!

Peaceful Labor Day Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Our first impression was, "What a cute cabin!" It all looked new and clean. Bruce gave us a quick tour and showed us how things worked when we arrived. The pine trees surrounding the cabin were lovely as well as the view of Pike River. There's a map of the fishing hotspots on the wall and how to maneuver a boat through the rocks to get out to Pike Bay. Our two twenty-something boys had comfortable accommodations upstairs in the loft bedroom and it was nice they had their own space. My husband and I had our own king-sized bed downstairs with the bathroom across the hall. The closet was big and had room for a dresser inside. There was an additional dresser in the bedroom as well. We spent a lot of time in the boat either fishing or just sight-seeing on the big lake. The boat launch cost $5 at the houseboat business just a hop-skip-and a jump away. The rocky shores and plethora of islands were beautiful on Lake Vermilion. We saw lots of loons and a few houseboats were tied up on docks. One sunny day we boated down to the new state park and used their restrooms while we were there. We wished we had brought along a picnic lunch. Because it was September, the air cooled down as the sun set and we were glad to have the gas fireplace to warm us up. We caught some northerns and walleyes, but the crappies weren't biting yet. There was plenty of handy items in the cabin for our use--plenty of garbage bags, paper towels, bath towels, dishes and cooking necessities, napkins, dish soap, hand soap and lotion, a few games in the closet, and the gas grill was handy to use for some of our meals. The deck was large and had more than enough seating and we loved the old metal swinging bench to sit and watch the river run by us. The furniture in the living room was nice, but the couch would have been great to have it average size. There was a round table to eat at in the eat-in kitchen and one outside as well. We tried out both! The table inside is perfect for two people, but a little awkward with the leaves folded out for the four of us as the leaves aren't super sturdy, but we made it work. It was a lovely four day Labor Day weekend with two of us making a day trip into Ely for some shopping and quick stops at some antique stores in Tower. The leaves were just beginning to turn color. Really, the only negative was the vehicle noise from the road nearby, but the waterfall (dam) mostly covered it up. We will definitely recommend this VRBO!
