Next to the kitchen, the laundry room has a washer, dryer, iron and ironing board. The dining room comfortably seats 4-5 people, has lots of natural light and even has a fireplace. The living room is a comfy, relaxing spot to curl up with a good book and enjoy the wood burning fireplace or hang out and reminisce all the wonderful places you visited earlier in the day! It has a new queen sleeper sofa, with a memory foam comfortable. Next to the fireplace is a smart, flat screen TV with WiFi and HDMI/USB ports. DVD player as well. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and the 2nd bedroom has a full size bed. Both with plush bedding and linens. The kitchen, living room and both bed rooms have ceiling fans. The front porch is a wonderful spot to sip your morning coffee, enjoy the edible/medicinal garden in the front yard or share an evening meal outdoors. There is also ample off street parking in the driveway.

The Neighborhood:

The Montford neighborhood is a wonderful destination in itself. It is one of the largest historic districts in the state. Most of the homes were built during the period of 1890 to the 1920's. Take an evening stroll down tree-lined streets and discover the amazing architectural styles of yesteryear. Beautiful gardens and stonework are abundant, as well. Stop by the Visitors Center and discover all the places and activities Western North Carolina has to offer. There's also a weekly farmer's market right behind the Visitors Center. Montford is home to an outdoor theater where the Montford Park Players perform Shakespearean plays. There are community parks and gardens, unique restaurants and even a fly fishing store. Montford is extremely pedestrian and bicycle friendly.

Getting Around :

The heart of downtown Asheville is a short 5-10 minute walk. There you'll find diverse restaurants and bars, coffee shops, art galleries, museums, eclectic shopping, amazing street performers, music halls and numerous breweries. Hop on the greenway, and follow Reeds Creek to the Botanical Gardens of Asheville or the University of North Carolina campus. It's about a 10 minute drive to the Biltmore Estate, the Grove Park Inn and the North Carolina Arboretum. You also might want to drive over to Hot Springs, NC (30 minutes) and soak in their private tubs by the French Broad River or explore the artistic town of Black Mountain, NC. Downtown Asheville is also quite bicycle friendly and there is a bus stop about 2 blocks away which can take you just about anywhere around Asheville. There are numerous taxi companies in town, as well.

A charming old house from 1925 that has been nicely maintained and is located in the Monfort area.

  • 5 of 5

Stephanie had a great collection of things to see and do in the area. Her house was a short walk to several grocery stores and had the additional benefit of being less than a half mile from Asheville. There were three of us and we were very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the covered porch and had our coffee in the morning and wine at night there. We are looking forward to repeating our visit next year!

Cozy

  • 4 of 5

Well maintained, simple and comfortable, circa 1920s cottage with all necessities. Excellent location for walking to shops and restaurants. . Stephanie is a pleasant and helpful landlady. The peach tree and grape vine provided fresh fruit and was a delicious plus.

One of our best rental experiences.

Lovely and very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five, plus two grandparents enjoyed staying at this perfect spot in Montford. The home was equipped with everything you could want/need, including yummy coffee and a bottle of wine. Our kids enjoyed the park just around the corner and each morning and afternoon, we were all drawn to picking the raspberries in the front yard. The wide front porch is the perfect outdoor living space! Downtown was within a very pleasant walking distance away with High Five coffee bar as our favorite pit stop! Stephanie was a pleasure to work with and meet-kind, comfortable, and personable! We will be back!

We were incredibly pleased with Yarrows cottage. Stephanie went above and beyond with everything. Home was immaculate and you couldn't pick a better location if you want to enjoy a down town setting. Walkability, character, charm etc.

Will definitely want to return.

Great location and layout. Very roomy and convenient to downtown.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay, very easy to get to and you really can't beat the location. Downtown is a very short walk as are several nearby grocery stores. A short drive to several parts of the blue ridge parkway for hiking. We have stayed at a lot of different places in Asheville, from hotels to downtown condos to houses and this one was the best thus far!

Wonderful cottage, walking distance to downtown Asheville

  • 5 of 5

This bungalow was a nice retreat and served our family of four well on our recent visit to Asheville. The fully equipped kitchen was also supplied with standard crockery, cutlery, pans, coffee maker and toaster oven. We ate breakfast at the bungalow every morning which was economical and relaxed. Washer and dryer next to the kitchen was very helpful and worked perfectly. Nice quiet neighborhood and walking distance ( 8-10 minutes) to downtown. Very clean and well maintained! Owner was knowledgeable and was able to direct us to some great places to eat. Tupelo Honey Cafe was delicious. The Pinball Museum was the hit with our family and friends with 10 year old twin boys who visited. Who knew! BTW there is a newish Harris Teeter and Trader Joes about 5 minutes away by car. I would recommend this to friends and relatives.
