Great location, beautiful cabin and surrounding. Plenty to do but we didn't have enough time to do it all. We will have to go back.

Beautiful and so relaxing!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of the cabin can not begin to show how nice it is. The property is so nice and quiet, yet you are still close to many fun things to do. The owner was so nice, and is there for you very quickly if you need anything. We had a very nice young man that came to give us all a horse and wagon tour. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Peaceful setting in picturesque SE Minnesota!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our 3 kids and my parents, stayed here two nights in June while we were in the area for summer camp events at Luther College in Decorah, IA. Online booking was fast and convenient, and we received the key code by e-mail before we arrived so we could check in easily. Craig, the owner, stopped by with a delicious loaf of Amish-homemade bread, as well as a bottle of very tasty, locally produced maple syrup, and made sure we knew how to operate everything (especially all the electronics) in the house. He also offered a buggy ride, but the weather was not terribly cooperative while we were there - maybe next time! There was plenty of room for all of us, including enough beds that no one had to share - a real plus for the kids! The bunk room was great! The kids also greatly enjoyed the theatre / movie room and the ping pong table. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of dishes and utensils; we were glad to be able to prepare a few of our meals at the house and avoid so much dining out. We were hoping to use the fire pit for s'mores, but weather prevented that. Nice, covered porch for sitting outside, even when it was raining. Plenty of towels, soap, & basics. One of the bathrooms was an en suite, which worked well for my parents and their privacy. The other bathroom was down the hall from the bedrooms. This wasn't an issue for us, but for larger groups, having to go through a bedroom to access one of the bathrooms might be a consideration. The beds all had cute sheets and comforters and they were comfortable, though a little on the soft side if you prefer a firm mattress. The two queen beds were also very high off the floor - a consideration for older people or those with limited mobility. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again when we're in the area!

Surprise party

  • 5 of 5

We had a surprise 60th birthday party at the cabin on May 13th and it was perfect! The cabin held all of our guests. The children had fun fishing in the pond and playing ping pong in the game room. The bigger kids played bean bag toss while us older kids had a great time visiting. After most of the guests left, several family members stayed for the night. It was a great evening for a fire in the fire pit and we certainly enjoyed the media room. The Stortz's have thought of everything - they had extra tables for us to set up and use, a coffee pot, cooking utensils, etc. Our stay was very comfortable and peaceful. Loved the porch swing!!! Would highly recommend staying at the Amish Country Cabin!
