Walk to Beach and Downtown Rockport
About Ed Pinkin
Alli and Ed are originally from Connecticut and have been married for 8 years and have four young children and a dog named Willie. Alli has a Masters in Education and is a certified Yoga Instructor. Ed has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and is a Software Sales Professional. On the weekends in the summer our family can be found at the beach, on the water paddleboarding or kayaking, and riding bikes (LOTS of neighborhood bike riding!). In the winter, we ski when we can and our favorite non-local travel destinations include the San Francisco/Bay Area and Jackson Hole, WY (trading spaces anyone?!) We have plenty of experience vacationing with little children and had that in-mind when transitioning our home from our full-time residence to a vacation rental for others to enjoy.
Ed Pinkin purchased this House in 2008
Why Ed Pinkin chose Rockport
Charming, well-cared for home in a fantastic location features many updates and modern amenities. There are countless nooks and crannies to explore on Cape Ann and you can avoid getting in the car for many days. Walk to ocean cliff walks, beaches, kayak and paddleboard tour guide/ rental shop, dozens of onshore fishing spots. Walk to the local diner, coffee shops (fresh donuts, strudel), regular or upscale dinning with ocean views, take-out/sitdown/order ahead seafood shack featuring local lobsters cooked to order!
What makes this House unique
The updated, open concept kitchen overlooking the backyard is what hooked us on the inside. Outside, this location is well, amazing in many ways.

Sunny Bungalow in a Beautiful Location
My party of 6 adults and two small children had a wonderful stay at the Old Garden Bungalow. The house is beautiful and full of natural light. The kitchen is spacious and updated, perfect for family dinners! We had friends stop by to catch up during our stay and we had plenty of room to sit, munch, and chat.
We were able to use the space so that our little family slept in the basement, which has a pull-out couch and some smaller, separate areas, to revise more privacy and quiet for our 1 and 2.5 year old daughters. They loved the house too—we made great use out of the fully stocked, very clean playroom as well as the well kept outdoor play set. We couldn’t have asked for a better place with two small children. We made use of the toddler mattress available, as well as the high chair. There was also a pack n play, which we didn’t use but appreciated the option.
The location is ideal. We visited in the fall, so we didn’t enjoy a swim, but the beach is a short walk away. The house is also situated almost within eyesight of some great views in the natural open space area know as the headlands. We walked back from Bear Skin Neck with our stroller very easily.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and our family hopes to visit again in the warmer season.
Location location location
Walk to downtown, harbor and old garden beach. Plenty of room, huge kitchen and dining, private back yard and driveways. Property owner is a pleasure to deal with. An excellent experience.
We really enjoyed our stay here. Perfect location to walk to town or the beach. The downstairs playroom and outdoor play set is wonderful with kids. The owner was very responsive when we needed them. Minor things needed to be fixed, perhaps due to us being later in the season. The dining room light and fan was out of order which made dinner quite dark. Glow in the dark stickers in the master bedroom was an odd one and they kept falling on us. No master closet rod to hang clothing was hard for an extended stay. It was nice a pack n play was provided, but it smelled awful from mildew so we couldn’t use it. Finally, my pet peeve is rentals that don’t provide basic hand soap, they all had about a drop left. It was still a great stay, but hopefully they can get these items fixed for next season.
Another great stay
This was the second time my family and I stayed here. It's perfect for us. The house has everything you need, especially for those with young children. Easy walk to everything in town and short drives to nearby towns. Just lovely.
Great location and lovely house
The house is very well located and equipped with everything you need. We had a multi-generation family and everyone had space to relax and enjoy. Walking distance to Old Garden beach and the town center make location unbeatable. Ed is a great host.
Located in the coveted old garden beach neighborhood, old garden bungalow is a 7-minute walk to heart of downtown featuring bearskin neck, artist galleries galore, restaurants, off-the-boat-seafood, and the world famous shalin liu performing arts center. Views of the atlantic ocean are 140 steps from the front door and old garden beach is a 4-minute walk away.
