2 bedroom, 1 bath hillside home with a northern view of the Aurora Borealis!
Why Gus Bystedt chose Fairbanks
We have owned this beautiful log home next to ours for many years in this hillside neighborhood. Having just completed refreshing the interior and exterior we offer this house for you to enjoy real Alaskan living. This is a beautifully decorated house which makes you feel right at home. The Chena Ridge area is beautiful all seasons of the year. You will feel very secluded and away from the town yet its only 10 minutes to all of the activities Fairbanks has to offer.
What makes this House unique
This house is so easy to relax in and enjoy your time. We have included everything expected to make you comfortable during your stay and a few extras. You can take a safe walk in the small neighborhood. Our hillside trail is a short walk for exercise and Aurora viewing and you can be back to the house in a jiffy or take it easy on any of the three decks.

Wonderful spot, wonderful hosts.
We had a great, if too brief, stay at Gus and Gari's house. The location is close to everything in Fairbanks but still feels quiet and secluded on a beautiful wooded street. The house was very comfortable, clean and well organized - as were our hosts. Gari and Gus were beyond accommodating and very easy to communicate with. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Great Fairbanks experience
The cabin was perfect for my family of five. Very secluded but not to far from yown.
We enjoyed our stay at this hillside property. It was very clean, peaceful, and super cozy.
Perfect Home away from Home!
This cabin tucking into the beautiful scenery near Fairbanks is a hidden gem! It is the epitome of perfection! Our family (6 people in total ages 19-50) so enjoyed how spacious, tidy and airy the cabin was yet centrally located and close to all amenities in Fairbanks.
The kitchen was so well appointed and an absolute joy to cook in, plus the grill made cooking outside so nice.
Despite having 6 adults the cabin is so well thought out and comfortable we had plenty of room a d sleeping space for all! The sauna wouldve been a real treat to use but the temps never chilled off enough to enjoy it, so it looks like we will need to stay again to see the Northern Lights! This cabin also boasts a double tired deck able to sit on and enjoy the views whether it's for a breakfast coffee, dinner or an evening beverage.
Our hosts, Gus and Gari made our stay better than anything we couldve dreamed of! They were friendly and offered us several sights to see, recommended restaurants and were always available if we had any issues. Truly honored to say we call them friends now!
We had all the comforts of home in this lovely and charming cabin: a well appointed kitchen, laundry, wifi and the dart board was a hit!
We have not one negative to say about this VRBO...everything was simply out of this world!
We look forward to returning to our Alaskan home away from home!
A home away from home
This home was perfect for our family of five (including three young children). It was beautiful and comfortable to relax in, especially the back porch where we spent a lot of our time. Our kids were delighted to find a chest full of toys and books...and Gus & Gari even supplied us with smores! If we need a VRBO again in Fairbanks, we'll definitely come back. (Thanks, Gus and Gari!)
Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Major Score in Fairbanks for a stay
Could not have been more pleased with Gus and Geri's cabin in Fairbanks. Felt remote down dirt road but quick and easy drive into downtown Fairbanks and super close to Univ of Fairbanks. Had 5 folks, we enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and the sauna even in the middle of summer. Could not want for anything not already provided. We hiked at Tabletop Mountain (stop a truck stop on way back for huge plates of homecooking), toured Museum of North at Univ, and made day trips to Denali. Long trip from Anchorage where we got off cruise but very worth it to see the another side of Alaska. Geri and Gus were the best hosts, there when you needed them and still lots of privacy. Summer Solstice in Fairbanks- AMAZING!
Glad you were able to see so much of Alaska!
