Wonderful Place to Relax

  • 5 of 5

My family thoroughly enjoyed this location. We caught fish from the dock and were able to spend the evenings relaxing and grilling out. Outstanding location not too far from Chattanooga. We went sightseeing and still had plenty of time to enjoy the property. Boat rental location was only about a 15 minute boat ride from the property.

Wonderful Lake Retreat

  • 4 of 5

Our family cherishes one week a year that we are all together. We look for a place that suites all our needs for a big family. This property is amazing, great details in the 2 homes and a dock that you'll never forget! Even with a chilly day of rain we were high and dry on the dock. The area of the channel in front the dock gave plenty of room for play with and without the boat. We saw wildlife all the time. Foxes, rabbits, deer, and a raccoon! The kids and adults loved the paved stairless path to the dock. It was nice to split up into 2 houses so little ones could get to sleep without us waking them and in the morning the late owls could sleep in. Overall we had a wonderful experience! We did have some issues when we got there but Rachel helped us to work through those. The community boat dock is just down a few lots but it is very steep and without a dock if you have a very big boat it was scary to navigate and not well marked. We also had a little trouble with 2 neighborhood dogs on the property a lot. They weren't mean but they were big and caused our dogs to bark. We also had a guy at the property wanting information under assumed circumstances, Rachel was quick to give support. Really none of the issues were in the owners control and they did their best to help.

Perfect for a week with family and friends

  • 4 of 5

The property and two houses are absolutely gorgeous and were so comfortable for a week with family and friends. Everyone had plenty of room since there are so many spaces to relax and hang out. The lake is beautiful and the hosts were so attentive and were in contact to make sure we were all set up for our vacation.

The best of everything!

  • 5 of 5

There are so many areas to rave about!

First, the owners,, Rachel and Marcus. They were going to use the place, themselves, over Labor Day weekend. I told Rachel that Labor Day weekend is a huge celebration for our whole family--the 6th wedding anniversary of one of our sons, the day after our other son closed on owning his first home, a family reunion including cousins from as far as Austin...and my husband's and my Fortieth Wedding anniversary! In addition, because one son has a 21-month-old daughter, who rises early, goes to bed early and still takes naps, the fact that they could be in a separate house, not bothering anybody with their schedule, was ideal!

Rachel and Marcus stayed home so that we could celebrate together at their gorgeous property--how cool is that?!?

The multiple private decks and screened-in porches gave us all time to be together as well as privacy whenever anyone wanted it.

The rooms are very comfortable--the beds and sheets are heaven! I even asked Rachel what kind of sheets she uses, because I'm going to buy some!

The lake is gorgeous--you can rent a boat or bring your own. So many coves to explore...a very large and beautiful body of water.

We also met some local folks, who were incredibly friendly and helpful.

While we were there, a young man in his early 20s came by because his parents used to own this place, and he was visiting friends he grew up with and told us so many wonderful stories about the years spent on the lake, grilling in the dock house, late nights telling stories around the fire pit...such pure and loving emotion toward such a beautiful spot!

You'll love it here!

Good but could be excellent

  • 3 of 5

The land, homes, and boat houses are excellent. The boat house is seriously one of the nicest I've ever seen. That said there are many little things that add up to make the overall experience less than excellent.

Areas for improvement:

Ants - the main house is infested. We battled them all weekend. In the kitchen and living room primarily.

Cleanliness - One of the chairs in the main house was covered in white dog hair. The kitchen area in the boat house had not been cleaned at all when we arrived. Counter tops, grill and fridge were all dirty.

Amenities - dressers in the small house bedrooms would make the stay nicer. There is plenty of room.

Things not working: The over the range microwave (took us a while to realize there was a small one the counter), margarita machine, various ceiling fans near death, 1 functioning light in guest house bathroom, 2 of about 12 dock lights working, grill was out of gas when we arrived (had pizza first night as a result).

It also took 3 attempts to book the property. The owner if very slow to respond to e-mails, but was attentive while we were there.

Overall probably a 3.5 out of 5, higher if you aren't bothered by the items listed above.

Beautiful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week and I wish we had booked two. This property has it all. Both houses are very nice and clean, but the dock is unreal, just amazing. We spent most of our time during the day on the lake and in the evenings on the dock. You can grill out there, watch a movie, star gaze is like having a 3rd house on the property. We hope to return next year.
