Great place to stay near Billings Farm
We had a wonderful weekend staying at Rachel’s apartment. We felt extremely comfortable there and it was so convenient to be able to walk into town and we even walked to Mt Tom and and went up to the top, roughly 5 miles total from the apartment (returned via the covered bridge through the center of town). We would definitely stay here again.
We were very happy with the apartment. It was more spacious than we thought and very clean and quiet
The only draw back was no TV. It would have been helpful for the listing to specify no TV. Otherwise it was great location and apartment.
Thank you of the nice review. I'm glad you enjoyed the cottage and your stay. Glad you pointed this out for future guests and please note that if you check the listing it does say that there is not a tv. Hope to see you again!
A Great Stay!
Rachel's house is in a perfect location, and was a great stay in Woodstock!
Charming cottage in a convenient location.
This was a perfect location. We could walk everywhere. The cottage is very comfortable and had everything that we needed . An extra comfortable chair would be nice but it was fine without it. We did cook most of the time and the stove was great! Would like a toaster oven for convenience. Will definitely come back.
Private, Bright Retreat in Perfect Location
Rachel's cottage is a squeaky clean, bright, quiet and spacious retreat on the edge of town, abutting the Billings Farm. It is a quick and pleasant stroll into town, or an even faster bike ride with the bikes provided in the lower garage. It sits in a lovely spot between two houses at a respectful distance (both empty when we were there), looking across to the river and, as you come in, to the hills and fields beyond. Windows span both the open living room and kitchen, bringing in wonderful natural light. For cooler days, it would be lovely to have the windows open to the abundant greenery outside and to catch the cross breeze, but it was hot during our trip. There is a window AC unit in the bedroom which easily cooled the entire space. The kitchen has everything one might need and plenty of room to move around in. The living area has a cushy big couch where you can stretch out or prop your feet up. (I agree with a previous reviewer who suggested one extra comfy chair would make the living space perfect!) The bedroom has a big dresser and two big closets and a very comfortable queen bed which is firm but not at all hard, dressed in crisp white linens. The attached bath is charming and bright with a nice strong shower. Everything is painted a nice bright white, from the walls to the high ceiling and the rugs are also a light color, which means you understandably must remove your outdoor shoes lest you mar it's freshness; so if it's cold bring slippers! If you are looking for a clean, private, quiet, bright, spacious, comfortable place with a lovely green view just a few minutes stroll into town (and who isn't?) you won't be disappointed!
Gorgeous location and wonderful accommodations!
This cozy carriage house is in a picturesque setting. You can walk up Elm St. right into Woodstock. A national historic site (Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller) is literally directly across the street...great tours of the historic mansion, very doable hiking trails, great for birding. There was a heat wave our first week (my girlfriend and I stayed 13 nights), but it was a short walk down to the river to cool off. Rachel is a terrific host. The house has a BBQ grill, bikes, kayaks...even a ping pong table in the garage. Five stars all around!
Located directly on the river and a short 5 minute walk from Central Woodstock. Adjacent to The Billings Farm and Museum and The Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park.
A short 10 minute drive to Suicide Six Ski mountain and 30 minute drive to Killington Ski Area. Only a 10 minute drive to Simeon Pearce Glass Blowing gallery/store/restaurant in and VINS Nature Center in Quechee.
