Ask a questionAbout Velvet Hawthorne
Hello travelers! I'm V and I love older homes, I love Winston-Salem, and have lived here for 29 years now. I grew up in Northern NY and prefer the North Carolina weather. I moved here and bought this house and raised my daughter here, she is now 28, married and living on the West Coast. My empty nest is ready for some guests! (I will not be staying in the house while I have guests)
Velvet Hawthorne purchased this House in 1991
Why Velvet Hawthorne chose Winston-Salem
My home is in a great location in a quiet neighborhood. I am a few blocks from Baptist Hospital, Salem College, Old Salem, Wake Forest Unitversity, and less then a mile from BB&T ballpark, home of the DASH team. The area the home is in is called Ardmore. I bought this house because I love older, historic homes. I love that it has so much charm and character. I think you will love it too.
What makes this House unique
My home has many living areas to relax and enjoy. The living room is comfortable and well situated. I provide a bunch of family board games and DVD's to watch. I have a huge back deck and it has many trees to make it semi secluded and private. There is a wonderful side porch. Most of my guests love my huge 7' x 4.5' walk in tiled shower in the downstairs bathroom which has two shower heads and two full size glass block windows, The kitchen is set up for people who love to cook and entertain. It has a gas stove and oven and tons of granite counter space. I have lots of pots and pans and serving dishes as well. I include spices, coffee, tea, creamer and bottled water for my guests. The first floor master bedroom has a beautiful, comfortable King bed with a pillowtop mattress, closet, armoir, two night stands, lamps and a smart tv. (not hooked to cable) The other 3 bedrooms are upstairs and all have comfortable queen beds, lamps, and clothing storage. There is Central air for the hot summers and two types of heat, a heat pump and a gas boiler furnace that works well and creates a warm moist heat. when temps drop below 32. All my guests comment on how clean, homey and comfortable my home is. Much more room and comfort and 1/3 of the price of hotel rooms for 8 people.
