Great location and responsive host but property needs attention

  • 3 of 5

Location in 12 south is great. This is a very small, non-updated property. The furniture is comfortable but TV has only a few channels - Netflix is all you really have. The layout is not condusive to more than a max of 4 people staying here. The bathroom is original and extremely tight (knees hit tub when on toilet) and the tile is buckled in the tub. A musty smell wss present (not coming from furniture) and I ended up with a terrible headache and sinus problems the morning after sleeping here. The front bedroom is noisy as the windows don't cut out any of the traffic noise which begins early morning. The washer/dryer are in an unfinished basement which I don't advise entering. There are enough holes in it that there must be water and creature penetration. The refrigerator does not have an icemaker (although there is ice in the refrigerator). There is a driveway which is a huge bonus for 12 South parking, but there isn't really anywhere to sit outside other than two small plastic chairs. On a positive note, Carter was responsive to me and did provide a response to my feedback and promised to look into some of the issues I raised to him. If being right at 12 South is important to you and you aren't planning on spending much time in the house, it's a good deal provided the musty, unhealthy air problem is dealt with.

Owner's Response: I am sorry that Rebecca did not enjoy her stay, but I feel that she may not have read my listing carefully before booking. I advertise that a max of 4 people should stay here and I do not let more than 4 rent. I discuss that the bathroom is vintage to the house and even show a picture so there are no surprises as to the scale. I mention that the washer/drier are in an unfinished basement. It is an unfinished basement and it does have some steep steps going down, so I am not going to tell you it is charming, but I can assure you it is clean and we have never had a problem with animals etc. We provide a smart TV with basic cable and free Netflix. No, it is not a 400 channel subscription. The outdoor space is as shown in the pictures. As far as the "musty smell", we had turned on the heat for the first time the day before, and that might have been what caused the smell, but I have never gotten another complaint about that nor smelled it myself, so I feel it was isolated to that situation. The freezer does not have an ice maker, but I always provide a bag of ice for my guests. While I keep the house stocked with essentials and have it professionally cleaned after each guest, this is not intended to be a hotel experience. This is a charming older cottage for the guest that want to experience Nashville on the residential side.

Awesome Location

  • 3 of 5

This is located in a very cute hip area of Nashville with some of the best food and drink probably in town. The Frothy Monkey is a must. The house is adequate. It was clean and tidy. The decor was also well done. The downside is it's old and in need of a makeover. The bathroom is very small but also outdated. If you like vintage I would recommend this place.

We saw Reese Witherspoon, y'all!

  • 5 of 5

What a great experience! My family (including my 4 and 6 year old) stayed 4 nights at this lovely bungalow. It's clean, well stocked and whimsically decorated. Honestly, it's nicer than it needs to be in such an amazing location. You are mere steps from all 12 South has to offer-"Best of Nashville" restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques. And a great park for the kids.

One boutique within spitting distance is Reese Witherspoon's Draper James. We walked to grab shaved ice from one of the food trucks that frequents the street and there she was, just hanging out a few hundred feet from the house. I'm still star struck, so fun!

I loved this house and have shared the link with many traveling friends so I'd act fast. This is a gem!

Great place. Perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place and location for us to use as a home base when visiting our daughter in college. Walking distance to great food and very convenient to the college campuses. The house is very well decorated and cared for. We would definitely stay here again.

Cool Old Cottage Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Cool old house in a great location. Walking distance to Burger Up and Portland Brew coffee, and other great food and shops. If you don't want to be downtown this is a good spot.

Map

Car: not necessary

Our house is located in the urban neighborhood of 12th South. It is the perfect mix of residential and retail. Our charming cottage lined street is sandwiched between 12th Ave South and Belmont Blvd. To one side is the 12th Ave South retail district where you will find blocks of local restaurant, coffee shops, bars, and boutique shops, all within walking distance. Belmont Blvd provides a grocery store, churches, and more restaurants, with beautiful wide sidewalks, great for that morning stroll. Sevier Park is 2 blocks away on 12th Ave and provides a great playground, community center with various exercise classes offered, and a Tuesday afternoon farmers market in the summers. Nashville B-Cycle, Nashville's bike sharing rental, has a station right at the park, so you can rent a bike and go explore other great Nashville neighborhoods or just stick around the 12th South area - there is plenty to see!
