Overview

About the property

Walk to all downtown Savannah has to offer by staying in this historic home gem!

Harrison House is a fully renovated, historic home full of new appointments. You'll be staying in one of the oldest homes on the east side of Savannah! Originally built for Mr. William T. Harrison in 1875, our home was lovingly restored by George, an award-winning historic preservationist.

Harrison House has 4 bedrooms (one is a converted trunk room) all with high-end, quality mattresses. No inconvenience of a pull-out sofa, cot / air mattress like many other listings. The home has a fully equipped kitchen. Also a full-size washer/dryer is conveniently located upstairs on the same floor with the bedrooms.

The Victorian District was named among the Top Ten Neighborhoods in the US by the American Planning Association. Our neighborhood is also within the up-and-coming SOFO district (South of Forsyth Park) thanks to the growing number of trendy bars, restaurants and shops locating to this transitional neighborhood. Some not used to Savannah's demographics may be out of their element, but we think the demographics of Savannah make it what it is: diversity, great food and wonderful cultural festivals...

Big and beautiful Forsyth Park, only a couple blocks away, features Savannah's best Farmer's Market every Saturday morning, as well as regular festivals, sports, and musical performances. This 30 acre park is the biggest in Savannah's historic district.

Brighter Day, our time-honored neighborhood natural food store & Kroger, a full service grocery store, as well as the eternally-happening Sentient Bean coffee shop and La Chai wine bar are within easy walking distance, as is all that downtown Savannah offers! Stay on our meter-free street and enjoy the flavor of our historic, up and coming neighborhood, while taking strolls in romantic Forsyth Park. Within just a few minutes' walk- you're on the free shuttle that takes you throughout downtown. And don't leave town without experiencing the fun of taking a PediCab out to dinner.

Impeccable comfort

  • 5 of 5

"Impeccable comfort" are the first two words that come to mind about the Harrison house. First of all, it is beautifully renovated. It's obvious a lot of love went into this house, you truly feel at home here! The owner, George was extremely welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful stay with our four children and my mother. Everyone had a bed ( not an uncomfortable pull out couch). The beds were comfy, the linens soft. The kitchen is very well stocked, We loved making family dinners there.

The location is great, easy walking distance to all the squares and very close to Forsyth Park ( The owner gave us a great tip, went to go Saturday morning farmers market there and it was wonderful ). There are still some homes on that street that need to be renovated, but we always felt safe and comfortable in the neighborhood. It's took us about 30 minutes to walk to the waterfront, and were able to cover most of Historic Savannah without driving.

We highly recommend this property, will be telling our friends about it, and hope to return one day soon!

The pictures and description of the home are very accurate. A beautifully restored historic home.

  • 5 of 5

The home was very clean and beautifully decorated and very well provisioned. Marc was accessible, friendly and helpful from booking thru prompt refund of security. It is large and comfortable enough for 6 women to enjoy (I was celebrating a milestone BDay) and to easily explore Savannah or intimate enough for a couple's get-away (just myself and boyfriend over weekend). We walked everywhere in Savannah, including down to the waterfront every day or uber-ed out a little. Keep in mind you do not want to walk alone here at nite, it is a few blocks off Forsythe Park and a lot of the homes are still vacant and not restored yet. If you are not familiar with city living, there is no privacy ...on your porch, in your back yard or in your home with drapes open. Noises carry at all times of day.The locals on this street were very friendly to our chatty group. Lots of new restaurants (be sure to try a few!)and businesses are going in nearby (stop and get a growler at White Whale Craft Ales) and there is close public transportation or uber if you aren't a walker. This is a great house to rent for the space, value and Forsyth Park location.Beautiful home. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful house - Perfect for Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved Harrison House! It was the perfect size for 5 girls. It had everything you could possibly need and more! Fully stocked kitchen, quality linens & towels, tolietries, comfortable beds, etc. The owner George even left a wonderful welcome basket full of fruit, bottled water, granola bars, coffee & filters to get our first morning started. He was a joy to work with and very accommodating. It is an easy walk to just about everything and in a safe location for the most part. We were advised by a retired cop/Uber driver to be careful walking around at night as women, but with 5 of us always together, we didn't worry too much. The upper balcony was our favorite place to hang out with a glass of wine. We enjoyed our time in Savannah at Harrison House immensely!

Transportation options are many, but walking is a definite favorite as it provides the opportunity to soak up the beauty of Savannah, which features the nation's largest Historic Landmark District...all within easy walking distance.

Other options:

Free Shuttle: The "DOT" Stop is just blocks north of our home on Hall St between Abercorn & Drayton. Shuttle runs every 20 minutes; Connects to Visitor Ctr, Streetcar, Ferry and more.

Schedule: Monday to Saturday 7am to 9pm; Sunday 11am to 9pm

City-Wide Bus: Stop is only a couple blocks away on Abercorn street and the "CAT" will take you through the greater Savannah area. Search catchacat for more info

Pedicab: our favorite is the original Savannah Pedicab founded in 1994. Just call 912-232-7900 any day and their hip drivers will cycle you through downtown Savannah. Less than 1/2 hour: pay what you deam fair.

Uber & Taxis readily available; reasonable rates throughout downtown.
