About the property

The boat pictured is being replaced in June 2017 with a brand new boat

This boat in the picture is being replaced by a brand new 43 luxury charter boat in June 2017.

See https://keys.craigslist.org/vac/6175136628.html for construction pictures of new boat.

43' Luxury Charter Boat in nice small quaint marina. Like the old Key West with a real working waterfront. Alongside a great seafood restaurant. This property is 4.5 miles from old town Key West and only one mile from the city limits. We are off the beaten path and some people come back and stay here without going back into town. Marina tenants include artists of all kinds and their work appears throughout the marina. There is live entertainment Fridays and Saturdays in the restaurant but the music stops at 9:30. After all we are a live aboard marina. You cannot hear anything inside the yacht but it is very pleasant sitting out on the back deck when the music is playing in the distance.

The yacht has 4 staterooms and 2 baths with up to 2 beds in each room. So a total of six guests can sleep in 4 private rooms. This is a private rental however so you will be the only party onboard. The master stateroom rate is 175 per night in off season. I have a 2 night minimum and if you only have 2 in your party you are assigned the master stateroom at that rate but there is a 3 night minimum for a party of 2.

I also have a very nice studio apartment in this marina if the dates on the yacht are filled.

THESE ARE BOTH NON SMOKING PROPERTIES.

About Andy Griffiths

I have lived in this area for 44 years. I started Andy Griffiths Charters in 1985.

I can recommend restaurants, fishing guides and things to do during your visit to Key West and the Lower Keys. I belong to every chamber of commerce in the Florida Keys and I serve on several non profit boards.

Andy Griffiths purchased this yacht in 2007

Why Andy Griffiths chose Key West

I purchased the yacht to restore her and spend time on the boat. Renting out the boat pays for the renovation and gives me the opportunity to spend time on the boat when she is available. I enjoy meeting new people and giving them a great deal on their vacation. I own the slip where the Yacht is berthed so my overhead is low. I have enjoyed restoring this yacht and I feel a pride when walking the docks. But again this boat is being replace in June 2017 with a brand new boat.

THIS IS A NON SMOKING PROPERTY.

I also have a very nice studio apartment in this marina if the yacht is booked.

What makes this yacht unique

My wife and I will enjoy happy hour on the back deck on occasion when the yacht is available. If we do, so will you! Wine and some snacks and we are loving it. Lunch or dinner is just steps away at the very popular hogfish bar and grill. The hogfish has a great local following as well as many visitors who can actually find it.

I use my studio as an office and poker room when not rented out. It is a great back up when the yacht is booked.

THIS IS A NON SMOKING PROPERTY.

Had an excellent time

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed aboard this yacht in April. We're used to staying in a suite in either a hotel or a cruise liner (Celebrity Cruises) but figured we'd try this because it sounded like fun. We couldn't have had a better time. It was clean, had all comforts of home and there's nothing like waking up, making a cup of coffee and sitting on the deck watching the world go by. We plan on returning every year from now on. Thanks Andy for a great time at a very reasonable price!

Fantasy Fest home base

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here over Fantasyfest. 4 miles from downtown, close enough to bike or uber and far enough away from the crazy crowds and insane prices of Duvall. The yacht was a pleasure to stay on, the marina is cozy and gives you a gorgeous view, especially enjoyed coffee every morning watching the sunrise. The Hogfish Grill is right next door, so a good beer is always within reach, the little kitchen was fine for cooking some meals, and the marina neighbors were friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back one day.

Great Place for a Key West Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time staying aboard a beautiful Hatteras Yacht. Instead of the same ole double room that only sleeps 2, my party of 6 were able to have a whole private yacht that looked like something out of a Hemingway Novel. We were steps away from one of the best seafood restaurants in the keys and the harbour view was awesome. We could hang out on the stern and people watch and inside the cabin the A.C. was ice cold. The Galley part was great for making sandwiches and breakfast so we didnt have to spend too much eating out all the time. We have been coming to Key West for years and this the first time I spent it on a yacht instead of a "cheesy" room and i will never stay in a hotel down here again!

Awesome!!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my boyfriend made an unexpected trip to Key West on a busy holiday weekend and got lucky to see Andy's ad for his yacht as soon as we arrived in Key West. The yacht is set back in a local area of Stock Island. The marina and its residents are quirky but very charming. We fell in love with the area within minutes. The yacht was docked next to the Hogfish which has some of the best food in the Keys. They were never opened late and never had any issues with noise. The yacht had plenty of room, with all the modern conveniences. The master suite was huge and the bed was beyond comfortable. We slept like babies every night there. The showers were small, but we were on a boat (obviously expected). We were 20 minute ride from the excitement of Key West, but enjoyed the quiet, local life on the boat. The most enjoyable time on the boat was in the early morning hours watching the sunrise on the bow of the boat while chatting with the local residents enjoying their morning coffee on the dock. We are looking forward to staying there again ...but this time bringing our families too. Thank you Andy!

Awful!

  • 1 of 5

I was taken in by the beautiful pictures of the boat, posted online. The neighborhood surrounding the marina is surrounded by trailer parks and light industry. So, things were very different when my husband and I, along with another couple, arrived. Our biggest complaint was the bathroom situation. There was a sign in each of the bathrooms to not flush paper down the toilet. We were told this includes toilet paper. How can you expect your guests not to flush toilet paper! You are expected to put your used toilet paper in a trash can by the toilet. That was not explained on the website. When we flushed the toilet, there was also a foul odor that you could smell throughout the boat. We were then told we could use the marina bathrooms. Those bathrooms were disgusting! One toilet did not flush, the showers don't have shower curtains and the floors are a muddy mess, with dried curly hair in the corners. The showers on the boat are short and deliver a small stream of water. And the water pump on board is very loud. The boat is moored in the marina, 10 feet from the bar next door. So there is no privacy when sitting on the deck. The music and noise from the bar continued until around 11pm. And the lights on the bar and patio were kept on all night. I expected things to be tight on board but the bunks in the front bedroom are not large enough for an adult to use. The bunks in the other two bedrooms are smaller than a twin size mattress. The sky bridge was in disrepair, so we couldn't sit up there. And the back deck only has two chairs, so apparently you have to bring your own. We booked a five night stay, but only stayed one night because the accommodations were completely unacceptable. When I asked for a refund of at least half of our money back, Andy refused. He returned only a fraction of our money.

Owner's Response: Well they say there's always one. And boy this was the one. I knew nothing I could do would make this woman happy. When she insisted her friends leave the boat I booked it that same night with a thankful young couple who absolutely loved it! They even gave me tickets to the Miami boat show! Then I collected that money and gave it to the unhappy guests. I won't even begin to counter the alternative facts presented here. I'll simply say I refunded even more money than was deserved with a last minute cancellation. And then she trashes me for trying to do the right thing! I shouldn't have tried to compensate here the way I did. No good deed goes unpunished! All you need to do is read the reviews. Hey boats have small showers! It's not a hotel! This one guest is an obvious outlier. Thank God this type is few and far between. But how do you know a bad bitter guest when they book? Anyway 29 great reviews. 1 bad one. That's the way it goes.
