The apartment was well stocked and comfortable. The owner, Karl, lives in the building and was exceptionally helpful. The apartment is a bit further from downtown than I realized when I rented it, but the Eppendorf neighborhood it is located in has very good restaurants, beer patios, etc.
It was a great honour and pleasure to have you staying at my guest-villa.
Lovely flat in great area for exploring Hamburg
We were three couples spending a few days getting to know Hamburg. The flat was light, clean and well equipped, with a nice back garden. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather to enjoy it. Very quiet location. Great restaurant recommendedby Karl across the road - simple but good food.The Eppendorf area was very attractive and we found the public transport system easy to use from the nearby station. Karl was an attentive host and all arrangements made beforehand were carried out without any problem. Our only reservation was that the third bedroom had a rather narrow double bed for a couple. Aside from that we would have no hesitation in recommending it.
Clean, convenient & quiet
Karl's apartment in Eppendorf was clean, convenient and peaceful. We were on the 2 downstairs levels and heard no footsteps above or any real noise from the street. Markets, cafes, shops, restaurants and parks all within a few minutes walk. Very convenient to the airport and most of Hamburg as well. Karl himself was a great host with a fridge stocked with beer and water upon our arrival and a cab/taxi reservation made for us on the way out. Only downside was the toilet on the floor below the bedrooms. Garden in the backyard was green and a great place for an afternoon beer or glass of wine. Enjoyed our time there!
Great hospitality and perfect location
My son and I were in Hamburg for the first time. We wanted a location near the museums, restaurants and other attractions. This location is ideal for travelers without a car. You can either walk or easily catch a train into the city. Our unit was clean, comfortable, roomy and fully stocked with necessary supplies. Karl was a gracious host, very friendly and accommodating. He offered advice on what to see and where to eat. He made us feel like a part of his family. It was a home away from home. I look forward to a return visit in the future. I will definitely stay at this apartment.

EXTREME CAUTION ADVISED
• This owner took our booking for his 3 bedroom apartment, for 4 nights, charging a short stay surcharge. We required a 3 bedroom apartment due to our son’s particular needs. The booking was confirmed OK.
• 3 weeks before our visit he emailed us asking us to change our dates, or accept his 2 bedroom attic apartment, due to people now wanting the apartments for a music competition. We said sorry, we could not change our plans, and this was accepted.
• When we arrived at the address at 9pm, he only had the 2 bedroom attic apartment available for us. He offered no apology or discount.
• When we said we were not pleased with what he had done, he became aggressive and shouted “get out of my house” and “I will call the police.” This was so upsetting; our two children (9 and 7) were in tears.
• He returned our money, and ejected us out onto the pavement of an unfamiliar city at 9.30pm with nowhere to stay.
• Are these the actions of a person you would like to do business with?

The above review sounds like an original Egar-Wallace-crime-story. Unfortunately only made up by Andrew and/or Susan:
And here, my point of view: After 3 month of getting bothered for a 4 night booking by mails and sms the crowd finaly arrived late (in the evening),
directly occupying the offered flat (the most charming and beautiful unit of my guest villa) with dirty shoes, hanging on the sofa and already using
the children's bedroom = one of 3 possible bedrooms:
I assumed the kids would like to sleep together in one bedroom why I set up 2 beds in one room. (The beds could have easily get seperated and distributed on 2 different bedrooms - what I explained and offered).
But "Mrs. Wallace" and her husband started complaining,
trying to re-negotiate the rate and
refusing to pay the deposit.
The payment of the non-smoking-key-damage-deposit was part
of our rental contract which was fully accepted and signed by "Mr. Wallace".
For this apt. did not have a balcony (it was cold and rainy outside anyway) I offered them 50 EUR as a ballance and for a nice welcome-breakfast at a wellknown coffee LINDNER next door.
I think this was fair enough!
They decided to think it over - and I politely asked them to take there time but outside of my apt to prevent it from requiring a complete new tight-up. Even this request was ignored by "Mr. and Mrs. Wallace".
After all - neither paying the deposit nor respect to me -
insulting me as a host - I finally really had to force them to leave the apt. Otherwise I would have been afraid these folks would have done something mean to my apt for revenge and for not lowering the price.
I can only guess what made "Mr and Mrs Wallace" so up-set:
they were missing the out-door-opportunity for smoking at this unit.
But my house is a complete and holy non-smoking-area (also for insurance reasons) what was clarified before in my ad and offer.
Andrew and Susan seem to regret very much the fact
that they (!) chosed to annulize and cancel the rental contract by "grabbing" for the rent I directly paid back to them by cash.
Whatelse could be the sick reason that they use every internet travel portal for putting me down and trying to ruin my business what makes my families living?

The perfect place for you to stay while in Hamburg
If you are planning a trip to Hamburg, you must book this apartment for your stay. Karl and his family go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable during your visit. The apartment is cleaned regularly, and if you need anything Karl will gladly get it for you. He really does make you feel like a part of his family.
You are within a short walking distance to many great local stores and restaurants. When you want to explore more of Hamburg, you can use the nearby Kellinghusenstrasse terminal to take the train wherever you may want to go (Rathaus, St. Michael's Church, Landungsbrucken, to name just a few)
Whenever I get a chance to return to Hamburg, I will certainly call Karl and rent this apartment for my stay. It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget!
