Awesome home close to downtown Dingle yet peacefully private!

Our group of 4 couples was more than pleased with this rental property. It was better than the pictures, and they were what drew us to it! All of the rooms have water views, which gave us fantastic and ever-changing snapshots of the countryside.

Plenty of space, decor and furnishings were comfortable and in great shape. We loved the large kitchen, dining and living areas. The fireplace was a plus on cool evenings and just added to the ambiance. Having a ground floor en-suite was a plus for our party, and 5 more bedrooms upstairs, all with balconies, was really nice. The master suite was to die for, including the large balcony with views of town and the bay. All of our beds were new and very comfortable!

The owner and property manager were great to work with, always quick to respond to inquiries and helpful.

I would highly recommend this property as a home base for exploring the Dingle Peninsula and Slea Head Drive. It's easy to get to, easy to get in and out of town, plenty of wonderful restaurants, shops and pubs to experience. Yet perched up on the hill, you have privacy and peace. A most perfect combination.

Fantastic family vacation

Our extended family spent a wonderful week here in July. The house was spacious enough for all 14 family members, ranging in age from 10 months to 68 years.

All of the bedrooms were well furnished and comfortable. We were very impressed with the kitchen, it's was extremely well appointed and there was space for everyone. It was nice to have the extra freezer for our ice cream treats.

The views from the house were amazing. Sitting in the living room looking out over Dingle bay was a high light of the trip.

The location was very convenient. We were able to walk into town most days, and enjoyed walking to the mouth of the Harbour to look for Fungi.

I'm not sure we'll be able to top this house for any future family trips.

Azita and Mary were both very helpful, before and during the trip.

Some Pros and Many Cons

Pros: Greenmount Manor is a spacious house with 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms and ample living space to accommodate a crowd and ideal for a family with children. We enjoyed its proximity to town - walking in to town to browse or in the evenings to hear music and to visit the pubs. It is about 1 km. Part of the walk has no sidewalks, so one has to be careful, especially with children. The walk back from town is uphill but not too challenging.

Cons: Unfortunately, this will be my larger paragraph. Greenmount Manor is clearly a rental house. It lacks the "house pride" of a home used frequently by its owner. We planned this trip which was a big event for us, a birthday celebration, bringing 3 generations over from the US, so I was very invested in everything being lovely. The House Manager, Mary is very nice and energetic, but it must be hard to keep the house up when there are only a few hours between visitors. Some of the negative standouts were: in the bathrooms, brackets where towel bars once were but are no longer, bathroom fixtures falling off the walls. (In our bathroom, for instance, a missing towel bar, a toilet paper holder falling out of the wall. No hooks or anyplace to hang towels.) Broken lamps, lamps without bulbs. And a linen closet that was one big messy pile of unironed sheets shoved on a shelf.

Our biggest setback was that the heat and hot water gave out. Electrician/plumber and gasman came and went, but no one was able to solve the problem while we were there. Gratefully, the weather was warm, but it preoccupied my husband's holiday as he tried to make things right. And it was a real drag and annoying that on many days we could not shower or bathe! The owner, Azita, waived our utility charge which was nice and professional, but it, of course, did not make up the the inconvenience and the discomfort.

The kitchen is moderately well supplied. We bought wine glasses which were sorely needed.

In short, the house needs more tender loving care. This rental has made me tentative about renting through Homeawy/VRBO again.

Owner's Response: Hi Juliet, Our Building Manager will inspect the property and repair or add the bathroom fixtures you noted. Also we will add some kitchen ware as you suggest. We have put a lot of upgrades into the house since we acquired it, such as new cooker, fridge, dryer and interior repainted, so some of the details you mention will now be addressed. With regard to the hot water problem, this was a one time maintenance problem with the gas system that required a technician from Tralee which is 30 miles away. We have not had any such problem before and now that the system has been repaired we expect it to be trouble free for years to come. We apologize for that. We appreciate your feedback and will address your points. Hopefully the positives of your visit and our corrective actions will change your mind about visiting again. Regards, Azita

New Year Family Celebrations

The house matched the web description for our group of 8. Big spacious rooms (some of the decor is a bit tired) There is a lovely real fire place in lounge, good facilities, great big dining table for the whole family in the kitchen / diner.

There is ample parking with a large grassed garden surrounding the house. The views from the house are without doubt the best in Dingle!!

Worth pointing out that the house sits on its own at the top of a steep, unlit road with no pavement / sidewalk for the 3-400 yards leading down into town. This may present a problem if you were to go out walking with a pushchair or for those with walking difficulties.

This is a great base for exploring Dingle and the Beautiful Wild Atlantic way with it's spectacular beaches.

The locals are very friendly and helpful. There are a number of terrific bars, restaurants, supermarkets and cafes in the town. Something to suit all tastes.

Booking and communication with Azita has been very easy.

On the whole, highly recommended if you are exploring this area of Ireland. We would all use the house again and recommend To friends and family

You will love everything about the beautiful, large, gracious home! Great experience with the home owner and house manager.

Dingle and the surrounding area is superb!

We are a family of 5 - more than enough room for all of us. After spending lots of family time together seeing the sights, it was wonderful to have lots of room to spread out and relax.

Gorgeous views from every window. What a location!!

Spend a few nights in paradise

I don't want to sound corny, but we stopped over at this incredible house where friends were staying, while we were traveling through Ireland. We stayed over 2 nights. It was really comfortable and spacious. There are 6 bedrooms! Everyone had their own room and a few of us had our own bathroom too. There was also this HUGE kitchen table, probably could have sat 10 around. So we'd eat meals and then play card games, drink (hey, it's Ireland!), and chat till late in the evening. Wish we had more time to spend, but we wanted to cram in more of Country in our short trip. This is a great big house if you have a large family or if you just want some friends to stop by while you're staying at the house. Worked great for us. Plus, the caretaker Mary was very helpful. Recommended Out of the Blue and Fenton's restaurants and both were beyond good. Last, we had a 4 legged friend who would visit us each night. A beautiful red fox would sit on the back lawn, which is elevated, and watch us through the kitchen window. We didn't go near it, because you never know, but it was an incredible sight.
