About Cody Benisch

East gone West and never going back! I grew up in a small town in New Jersey, and moved out to Crested Butte permanently in 2009. I worked while also going to school at Western State for 6 years. After graduation my career has taken me to the Denver area. Since I love Crested Butte so much, I wanted to always have a place to visit and what a bonus to get to also share it with others.

Cody Benisch purchased this house in 2015

Why Cody Benisch chose Mount Crested Butte

I chose to buy this property explicitly because of the location, it just can't be beat! Just a short walk up to the resort (even in ski boots) and a beautiful walk to downtown. Not to mention the free shuttles that run all year and make it crazy convenient. Pitchfork is a quiet little community full of every kind of Crested Buttian that there is, and I just love it.

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with this home the moment I looked out the kitchen window, there in her full glory stands Mount Crested Butte. You can sit on the back deck and gaze at the mountain and ski resort, or out the front deck into the Washington Gulch area open space. I also love how you can fill this home with 8 people and it doesn't feel crowded because it's three levels and very spacious.

Good Accomodations, Great Location, Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Overall, enjoyed our stay at Horseshoe. Access to the slopes was easy using the shuttle - approximately 50 yards from garage to shuttle stop. House was fully appointed, beds were comfortable and because we were able to bring our dog, it was truly a home away from home. It was just 4 of us and we had plenty of room. We'll definitely plan to stay here again!

Family loved this place

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the guest house for a long weekend of skiing and rest. We wanted to get a couple ski runs in on our arrival day and the owner allowed us to check In early, it made a huge difference to us. The owners had recommended places to eat in town, we tried one of their recommendations and loved it, again so nice to stay at a house with friendly and helpful owners instead of dealing with impersonal resort staff at so many ski rentals. The house was well apportioned and fit our family of five perfectly, the kids loved the bunk room and the converted study. Perhaps our favorite feature was the proximity to the shuttle stop, we have stayed in houses advertising a walk to the ski shuttle before to find out that the walk is 1/2 mile or more which is a total drag in ski gear and with kids carrying their gear, this house however was so close the walk was literally 1 minute or less!

We loved the rental and would recommend others stay here as well.

Very nice stay at in Mnt. CB Pichfork residence (VRBO #760342)

  • 4 of 5

Over all the house was very nice with exception of the kitchen which was sparse with respect to cooking pots, pans, and spatulas and such. Recommend purchasing more equipment for those who cook a lot. Very convenient location and comfortable indeed! Had a great time.

Run down and dirty, badly needs updating!

  • 1 of 5

Extremely dirty and smelly (dog urine) carpeting; broken cold water handle on lavatory in downstairs bathroom as well as missing towel bar and toilet paper holder; old and worn out furniture including falling apart bed frame in upstairs bedroom; old and worn out pots and pans, t-towels, coffee pot; mildewed and smelly shower curtain in upstairs bath as well as moldy and mildewed tile.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review. All feedback is great feedback and I have made a list to attend to these issues! I assure you that they will be fixed, and if you ever choose to give us the chance and stay with us again your experience will be very different. We hope to have a chance to see you again and make up for your bad experience. I just wanted to update this response as of 9/28/2017 - the carpets have been steam cleaned, the cold water handle has been fixed, the toilet paper roll holder has been replaced, there is a brand new pull out sofa in the living room, new coffee pot and pots and pans and the bed frame has been repaired. The shower curtain has been replaced and the entire place has been deep cleaned.

This rental is located right on the Crested Butte - Mount Crested Butte recreation path. Easily take the shuttle to town, or right up to the mountain. A favorite activity is to walk down the path to town and take the free shuttle back up! The free shuttle leaves every 15 minutes in the winter and every 20 minutes in the summer. Driving and/or walking out Washington Gulch Road is a must do activity, in the summer a drive or walk, in the winter a snowshoe or nordic ski. The views are amazing and it's basically in the backyard! The club at Crested Butte offers a Robert Trent Jones Championship Golf Course. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is a mere .5 miles away, where the Winter is filled with beautiful powder turns and the Summers are filled with amazing mountain biking. Clark's Market is 2.5 miles away and supplies anything you might need when your not visiting the amazing restaurants that Crested Butte has to offer!
