About Janis l Nores

Jan & Johnny have created this magical place in the sun, pouring love and energy in to their Puako home!

The creative process goes on as we find more ways to enhance the property and look forward to everyone's' feedback on ways to improve your experience.

Janis l Nores purchased this house in 2013

Why Janis l Nores chose Puako

Puako Pau Hana is a home, you will feel the attention to detail, clean and comfortable! Listen to the sounds of the ocean as you fall asleep and the trade winds toss the palm fronds! Relax after a day of exploring the island, on the covered lanai, que up the grill and kick back with a cool drink, aaah, this is what it is all about!

We love to walk to the waters edge, take a dip, watch the sun set, in the morning watch the sun rise over the mountains, gaze across the open land to majestic Mauna Kea! It is convenient to all the resorts, but supremely quiet and private.

Petroglyph park at the Mauna Lani resort is with in walking distance. The Top Ten in the world beaches, Mauna Kea Resort and Hapuna Beach are within 4 miles, along with world class diving, golf and tennis!

We fell in love with Puako and find it to be the best place to be on the planet, nothing compares to the friendliest neighborhood feel of Puako... ride a bike, walk to the General Store, stroll in the evening to watch sunsets that will be forever in your mind & memory!

We meet people everyday, that have been coming to Puako your decades with their families, there is such a great small world feel to being here. We always feel safe and our neighbors are the best!

What makes this house unique

Located in Puako, the best diving and snorkeling on the Island!

You can hear the ocean, feel trade winds and know you are in Hawaii!

Located at the best beach access in Puako, with amazing sunsets when the Turtles come in to rest~ you may see them swimming through the channel and lava~ Please give them space, as this is their sanctuary!

The General Store is well stocked for most of your needs.

Safe & friendly neighborhood, great place to walk and ride bikes.

Walk along the beach path and in 15 minutes you are at the Orchid Hotel for lunch, dinner or pupus!

Puako is the place everyone wants to come back to!

Notes:
Puako Pau Hana is well positioned toward the end of Puako Beach Drive. You can be on the shoreline in 3 minutes, maybe less! If you crave the sound of the ocean, the pleasure of walking, swimming, snorkeling and just gazing off, this is the place to be! If you want adventure and sights to see, drive 5 miles, it all changes, with the 11 climates we have on the Big Island. You can be at the visitor center at Mauna Kea Mountain in less than an hour, Kona 30 minutes, barring the late afternoon Kona Krawl. It's just two blocks to the best snorkeling on the island at Paniau!! Morning walks and evening strolls are the best, as the trades cool you! Winter surf is also at Paniau, 69's Beach and Hapuna Beach, check the photos, it is awesome! Children will love the shoreline tide pools and sea life...whales are heard and seen from the shore!

Beautiful vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect spot for a getaway. Weather was beautiful and the house is gorgeous. Such a tastefully decorated home with everything you could need for a relaxing vacation. The beds are super comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with all the necessary equipment. Owners were kind and responsive.

Plus, we were so close to all the best beaches. Highly recommend this place.

Great for dog-lovers

  • 5 of 5

Jan greeted me warmly at arrival and shared some bananas and papayas. We took in an amazing sunset at the rocky lava 'beach' just steps away across the road while she gave me an orientation to Puako and surrounding attractions. There are numerous public access points to the ocean at Puako. Mauna Lani, Waikoloa Beach, and Mauna Kea Resorts are all a short drive away with great beaches, restaurants and shops. The ohana is spacious apartment with a small strip of grass in the fenced in back yard, perfect for pooches.

The unit is clean and neat and the kitchen is well-stocked with everything you need for cooking. The great room is not air-conditioned (and it can get warm at oceanside) but the two bedrooms are air-conditioned. A washer and dryer are available as well.

Lovely setting for a relaxing stay in Puako

  • 5 of 5

Jan's vacation house is sure to please. Very comfortable and sparkling clean, pretty decor, and plenty of room for a family to spread out. The kitchen is well equipped and she provides many of the things you will need for your beach and day trips like coolers, beach chairs, umbrella, and water toys. The patio is nice for relaxing in the cool morning, and dining outside after watching the sunset across the street. A laundry area is provided and plenty of beach towels too. The mattress was very comfy and the ceiling fans cooled at night.

For great snorkeling, take road down near the end of the road (ocean access before the private gates)...the little "keyhole" entrance in the lava leads to excellent snorkeling...head right after entering the water...underwater canyons, tunnels...we went almost every day!

Jan was available for questions and is a wonderful host.

Hidden Gem in an awesome coastal neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Jan and Johnny's place is the perfect spot to unwind, relax and get a taste of one of the most magical locations Big Island has to offer. The home is clean, stylish, functional and breezy and had everything we needed. This was the perfect retreat for us when we left our home on the southern tip of the island due to poor air quality due to the recent Kilauea eruption (don't worry, the air is pristine in Puako!)

It's a different world in Puako - fresh clean air, ocean breezes and the most wonderful hosts (and wonderful friends now)! We will absolutely be back and recommend to everyone we know. The experience we had here will be forever in our hearts :)

Amazing setting with the utmost privacy steps from a beach loaded with turtles and marine life

  • 5 of 5

Jan and Jonnie are friendly hosts that provide and amazing stay that is comfortable, private and very relaxing. the grounds are spectacular and the neighborhood is very quiet and safe. You are steps away from some of the best snorkeling on Kona where there is an abundance of turtles. The home is very comfortable and easy to adjust to and feel right at home. We will be back again for sure.

Thank you Jan and Jonnie for a wonderful stay!!!!

Great Spot!

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for our family vacation. It was well-laid out for our 2 teens to have some of their own space a little bit separate from mom and dad (their room was down the hall with their own bathroom) but then it had nice central indoor and outdoor family time spaces. The master suite was very comfortable and everyone slept well after busy days. Everyone we met in the neighborhood was so friendly and we felt "at-home" strolling across the street to snorkel, fish, enjoy the sunsets or to watch for whales and turtles. Also we found that it was centrally located for accessing north and south beaches and towns - some great ones only 10-15 minutes away. We will be back next year!!

Owner's Response: Aloha and Mahalo for the nice review! We hope to see you next year for more fun and fly fishing exercises!! We just had 4 Frigates fly over the beach access, so exciting, we don't see them often! I am so happy that we were all sitting on the beach watching sunset, when the double whale breach happened....I think it was their final Ta Da!, before heading back to Alaska! Have a great year!! Best, Jan and Johnny
