About the property

A Large, Clean, Renovated Studio Ohana

A large renovated studio ohana on the tranquil Kohala Coast with exquisite Ocean and Mountain views. The luxurious unit comfortably sleeps two people in the queen size bed. Beautiful full bathroom with shower. The ohana has a large private lanai with bbq and outside dining. Big expansive ocean and mountain views of Mauna Loa and Hualalai. Mauna Kea is also visible from the property.

In the winter months, you may see humpback whales from the lanai. At night, the dark skies make star gazing sublime.

If you ever tire of going to the beautiful nearby beaches of Hapuna, Mau'umai, Puako (Waialea Bay), or Mauna Kea, swimming in the crystal clear ocean, or exploring the island, the ohana has both a Direct TV and a Netflix account. There are also bluetooth speakers to listen to music.

While the space is most comfortable, and priced, for two people, we can supply you with an Aerobed air mattress if you'd like to have your child/children travel with you. We also have a Pack - n - Play for the little ones.

We live on the property and will leave you alone as much as possible, other than to say hello and answer your questions, but if you need anything we'll be available.

On the premises there are two friendly standard poodles, two African grey parrots, five dwarf goats, and nine chickens. There is also a donkey that comes to visit a couple of days a week. There can be some animal noises on the property, sporadically, throughout the day.

This ohana is beautifully situated and charmingly appointed.

We loved our stay on the hillside overlooking the ocean. The inlaw apartment/Ohana is thoughtfully appointed and charmingly decorated. We felt very much at home, and ended up cooking all of our evening meals there. The host, Pamela, is welcoming and full of helpful information about the area.

Out of the way retreat

Great Ohana with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen is well stocked with condiments including olive oil, vinegar and sugar. There are beach chairs and snorkel gear to use. Nice ocean view from the patio space. Great beaches are only 10 minutes away and although this side of the island has many resorts this Ohana is tucked away in a nice residential area far from the tourists of the resort areas. But close enough if you want to shop or eat in a upscale chain establishment.

Don't miss seeing the Manta Rey viewing out by the Sheraton or even book a tour to get in the water with them. The Green sand Beach is worth the 2 hour drive and 3 mile hike. A short drive North to Hawi for lunch is worth it, stop at the Sweet Potato Kitchen.

Our hosts were great and provided lots of privacy. There are goats and parrots on the property and a wild donkey so there may be a few sounds about.

An incredibly cute little house on the hill. Very attractive, clean and quite.

Whenever we came back here, it was hard to leave again. Nice, functional kitchen, and wonderful patio for relaxing. If you want to be away from the hub-bub of Kailua and Alii Drive, it's a great place to stay. Just be prepared to do some driving as it's a bit distant from restaurants, etc. The owners were friendly, helpful and not intrusive, even though they live next door. I would go back and stay longer next time.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your nice review. Yes, you need a car out here, no doubt. There are four places to eat in Kawaihae, but two are only for lunch (one weekdays only), so the options are limited, that's for sure! We enjoyed having you stay with us and hope to have you return!

Funtastic!

Pamela and John offer friendly comfortable accomadations that exceeded our expectations. We stayed for a week.

The location is near the best beaches. The view is stunning. The accomadations were clean, modern, tastefully decorated and we'll equipped for cooking. We slept well due to the comfortable bed, quiet, peaceful and beautiful country surroundings.. We loved their goats, dogs, chickens, birds, and Jeronimo the wild burro who would visit us. The fresh chicken eggs were delicious and a gracious gift from our hosts.

What can we say except that we will be back again soon.

Beautiful, relaxing and "full service"

The ohana was beautiful! Cozy space with all we needed for our stay including beach towels, snorkel gear, beach chairs and boogie boards. Plus two burners for cooking. Pamela and John were so nice and welcoming. Great property, lovely views of the Kohala coast, close to beaches and stars were unreal!
