Modern Condo In A Charming Farmhouse, 25 Acres - 5 Miles To Okemo

Awe-inspiring views and a peaceful vibe come together at The Big Barn Farm to serve up a fabulous vacation for any season!

The Big Barn Farm is a charming 25 acre Farm centrally located in the Green Mountains. The property consists of a large Farmhouse, multiple outbuildings and a Landmark 5-story Historic Barn. This 4-season paradise is a wonderful place to ESCAPE, RELAX and PLAY!

This Farmhouse condo has been recently updated and modernized into a bright, sunny, private and secure space. After a great day of recreation, store your winter toys in the spacious parking area and enter the Farmhouse to find plenty of hooks/storage for all of your outdoor gear. Once inside the cozy setting, pour a drink and soak up the stunning valley views through the bay windows of the large sitting/dining room as you contemplate what you'll cook up in the fully modernized kitchen. At dusk, head outside to the bonfire pit and enjoy roasting marshmallows by the warm glow of the fire and fading sunset. This is how a typical day is spent at the Big Barn Farm.

In this condo, the Master is a large, comfortable room with both a deluxe queen bed and a twin daybed. Friends or children will love the bright and cozy second bedroom with a double bed. There is also a roll away bed and a pack n' play, if needed.

The kitchen has brand new gourmet appliances and is outfitted with everything you'll need to serve up culinary delights. The bathroom has a full-sized tub with a rain shower head and a new, high-end large capacity washer/dryer to clean up from the day's activities.

You'll feel like you're away from it all - even though you're only a very short jaunt from the heart of everything that Central VT has to offer! Skiing/snowboarding/snowmobiling/biking/hiking/fishing/ice fishing/swimming/boating/waterfall exploration....the Ludlow-Cavendish area has it all! And, to top it off, this area is quickly becoming a high-end culinary destination. Great restaurants, locally grown food, farm-to-table delights - all this plus a fabulous Winery Right Next Door!! Brook Farm Vineyards (previously known as the Bates Mansion) serves wonderful wines in their seasonal tasting room and also serves up wonderful plates of local meats, veggies and cheeses - a great way to pass an afternoon - or two!

About Sheryl

Nomads at heart, New Englanders by birth, Travelers by choice. We have visited more than 100+ countries and picked up bits of language and some crazy customs along the way! Many of our earlier years were spent wandering with nothing more then we could fit on our backs. Years passed, a couple wildly awesome kids showed up and some crazy properties found their way into our lives including a one-of-a-kind Miner's Cabin in the one-of-a-kind town of Crested Butte (truly one of the most beautiful places either of us has ever been) and, more recently, a this gorgeous 25 acre former Vermont dairy farm which, when we found it, was a time capsule to the day it closed in the 1940s! 80 year old hay, anyone?

We've lovingly restored this iconic Vermont Farm to its former glory and you can sometimes find us snowshoeing through the fields or picking apples from the secret orchard while sitting in the tractor bucket. What a breathtakingly beautiful place. We welcome you to our slice of paradise!

Great house for a ski weekend

  • 5 of 5

We were 2 couples and stayed here on a really cold weekend in March to ski Okemo. The apartment was the second floor in the house. The kitchen was well stocked, we were able to cook with no problems. The larger bedroom was colder than the rest of the apartment, but my girlfriend and I like it that way, so it didn't bother us.

The place was about a 10 minute drive, partly on dirt roads, to Okemo. The ground was so frozen that we didn't have any problems driving in our front wheel drive van.

We'd stay here again.

Best bay window in the world!

  • 5 of 5

Our party of three stayed here for about a week, skiing in Okemo during the day. The location was perfect for that: even though the resort was just 10-15 minutes' drive away, this property is located in a quiet neighbouring valley, so it feels like you're truly going home at the end of each day. Ludlow itself isn't the prettiest, but it has good amenities, including a large Shaw's food store.

The property itself has a good sized lounge, a large TV and a really great bay window, with a view across the surrounding countryside. The heating/cooling system was good, and the kitchen had pretty much everything you could imagine. If you're staying longer, there's also a large washer and dryer, which look new.

Sheryl and Trevor were great hosts, and were available if we needed them, but otherwise completely unobtrusive.

If you need to hire skis, I'd recommend Totem Pole - their website isn't the best, but don't let that put you off - we found the service and equipment both great.

Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We think it would also be a beautiful location the rest of the year, with lots to do and see.

Wonderful Place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely apartment. It was clean, tidy, well appointed and cozy. All the new appliances and storage space for ski gear was great too! It was a short drive to Okemo. Beautiful views! We plan on definitely staying here again.
