Overview

Description

La Tour (the tower)

The Tower is located in the historical centre of Bruges in a quarter calm and aired at 8 minutes walking distance from the ' Markt '. His origins go back up to 16th century.

The archives of the city, speak to us of 'one house of pleasance furnished with beauties and agates'

In 18th century, the tower is restructured to give the actual face: a small typical 'Folie ' of this epoch.

For more than 200 years, our family supported this heritage which we are proud to introduce you.

Protected in the heritage of the city of Bruges since 1973, we absolutely restored it in 2009.

It alloys modern conveniences and refined decoration.

On the main floor, there are 1 hall with kitchenette, 1 Louis XV living room with a dining room corner.

On the first floor, there are 1 Louis XVI sleeping room and 1 bathroom and on the second floor is situated the belvedere what offer a 360° view on the towers of Bruges.

Tower Rewiew

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I stayed in the tower for a week with our 7 month old son. Francis and Louise were very nice and offered us several baby items to use during our stay. The properties location is very convenient to city center as well as motorways.

It was nice having the kitchenette and used the sink and refrigerator only. There seemed to be enough cooking utensils though if you wanted to cook in the apartment. The courtyard area seemed very nice, but due to the cool temperatures during our stay we weren't able to use it much. Parking was very secure and was very nice to have since we made several day trips to other areas in Belgium.

We would definitely consider staying here again if we are ever back in Brugge.

Unique and spacious

  • 5 of 5

Bed and Bruges is a property with three rental units: De Melgar, At Home, and La Tour. We stayed in La Tour (“the tower”), which was originally built in the late 1600s/early 1700s as a garden house. There are still many of the original features, such as the mantelpiece on the first floor and the stone and wood flooring on the second and third floors. The tower consists of three stories in total. The first floor has a small kitchenette, a patio and a sitting room. The second floor has a bedroom, a bathtub on an alcove off of the bedroom, and a separate room with a sink and toilet. The third floor is another sitting room that has large windows on all four sides—an absolutely wonderful place to just read, talk, or relax. Overall it is a very large unit, so if you like to have a lot of space this is the place for you. The owners, Francis and Louise, are very nice and willing to help in any way they can. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again next time we are in Bruges. It’s just a very unique place. Even though there are a lot of old buildings in Bruges that house bed and breakfasts, I don’t think there’s anything quite like the tower. Plus it’s in an ideal location—about a 10-15 walk to the central of town (the Markt), but in a residential area that isn’t touristy and thus very quiet.

Beautiful property, wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

Francis & Louise did a magnificent job restoring The Tower apartment that has been owned by Louise's family for over 200 years. It is located just a short walk from the central market area if Bruges. My wife & I would definitely stay there again.

Step back in time

  • 5 of 5

It was an absolute privilege to stay in this wonderfully restored tower and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to find somewhere totally unique in beautiful Bruges.

Louise and Francis were charming hosts and we felt like we had stepped back in time for our five days staying here.

Fantastic out of the way location only a ten minute walk to the centre of town.

Only an hour and a quarter drive from the Channel Tunnel and less than an hour's drive from the WW1 Battlefield Sites and Cemeteries at Ypres and Passiondale.

Would highly recommend.

Quirky heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our week's stay in La Tour and Bruges. La Tour is unique and beautifully restored, a restful haven to return to after a day cycling in the countryside, or visiting places of interest (preferably away from the tourist hot spots!). We got used to cooking in a cupboard, and loved it for its quirkiness, the spiral stairs up to the Belvedere at the top where we sat in the evening sunshine. We didn't want to leave to come home and comforted ourselves with the knowledge that we could return!

What FUN!!

  • 5 of 5

Such a unique property in a lovely garden setting, just steps away from the grocery store and the bus. Easy to communicate with the ownerswith clear instructions for entry. This property has been thoughtfully refurbished, providing modern amenities in an antique setting. Appliances worked as intended, WiFi was reliable, and the pictures accurately show this property. We walked to town center or took the bus to access the train station. A side trip to Zebrugge was also fun. Recommend this property for those who appreciate history, but like modern appliances and nice linens.
