My boyfriend and I stayed in the Reef Cottage (the blue one) for four nights and it was absolutely the perfect place for us. The cottages are on the quiet side of the island (off Back Street), very close to the airstrip, so if you are looking for lots of action in the immediate area, these are not the place to stay, but if you *are* looking for impeccable accommodations, managed by a warm and welcoming host, with no shared walls and a huge amount of privacy, these cottages absolutely fit the bill. The beautiful & serene plunge pool doesn't hurt.

The walk into town is lovely & sleepy, about a half a mile/mile depending on where you want to go. If you're not the walking type, then you can rent bicycles for $10/BLZ/day/bike, and I definitely recommend you do. Go slow may be the island motto, but it's also fun to go a little fast on their unpaved roads. Michael even adjusted the height of our seats when he realized that I was a tall woman. :)

Things that were provided during our stay: towels, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner & bar soap), hairdryer, beach towels, drinking water. There is a safe in the room that can fit a 17" MacBook Pro. The air conditioners work great and are necessary, as the closed up cabins get pretty hot during the day while you're out having fun.

We found the bed & pillows to be very comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen at all (vacation = no cooking) but it was well equipped from my cabinet-check.

The shower is great and hot water plentiful.

A local cell phone is provided so that you can contact Michael or restaurants or a Taxi, which came in very handy and was a lovely perk.

Michael even had a taxi (Nick) waiting for us upon arrival at the Water Taxi station, which was incredibly helpful, as we had no idea where we were going when we hit the island. Nick even gave us a quick tour to orient us with points of interest (places to eat, the ATM, his wife's bakery).

If you are going to Cay Caulker then you are very lucky, but if you stay in these cottages you will have hit the jackpot. I can't wait to go back.

Great Place to Stay in Caye Caulker

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Low Caye Cottages in Caye Caulker was fantastic. This was my 3rd visit to Caye Caulker but my first stay at the Cottages. It was a perfect setup for us and I never imagined we would use the pool as much as we did. It was great to get up in the morning and take a dip before starting our day and we especially enjoyed it to cool down after a trip into the village and then again before turning in at night. The Cottage itself had everything we needed and was comfortable and quiet. I would love to stay here again on my next trip. The only negative I can think of was probably more to do with the island itself and not the Cottage but water pressure in the shower was basically non-existent. The best I can remember that is pretty standard for the island. Other than that I could have stayed forever in this beautiful compound. Thanks to Jeff and Michael for all their help answering any questions we had before and during the trip.

Low Caye is on a "Quiet" Road!

  • 4 of 5

Low Caye Cottages are in a perfect location if you want to be a bit away from the busy waterfront road. It's in a great, close spot via a short walk or bike ride to stores, restaurants, etc. Our little green cottage was all we had hoped for... clean, nice linens and beautiful new finishes in the sleeping areas, bathroom and kitchen. We wish though that the property managers had disclosed that the adjacent property right next door is under construction with a pool, etc. The construction noise for our 11 days (including weekends) was no fun especially before 8 am. It wasn't possible to relax/nap by the pool. However, the small pool is good to cool off and is very kid friendly and we met several families.

Awesome week on Caye Caulker

  • 4 of 5

Quaint home. Comfortable bed. Plush towels. Very clean. Very nice check in procedure and friendly staff. Would have liked to have had better water pressure but we managed fine. We love to walk and bike so being away from town a bit was not a problem, but for anyone with mobility issues, this would not be an ideal location. We loved the people of Belize and all the fresh seafood. The only reason our week was less than perfect was a cold front.

Wonderful vacation.

  • 4 of 5

The cottages were very clean and comfortable. Michael and Cici were very responsive.

The only negative were the Sand fleas. We used bug spray but still got eaten up. We couldn't sit out on the deck by the pool. Which was disappointing.

Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

Even though it was farther away from the village area then expected the place was beautiful. Very well kept, quite area especially at night. Very impressed. Michael was outstanding. He was always available when we needed something or a question answered. The young man (i can't remember his name) who did maintenance and took care of the pool was very nice and attentive as well.

Thank you

Great for a family of 4

  • 5 of 5

Place is great. It was clean, towels and linens were nice, and everything worked. It is far enough from the center of town so it is quiet at night. Although pool is shared with other 3 cottages, it was very refreshing and nice to have right at your doorstep. Management and on-site staff very helpful and attentive. Only improvements would be to have access to a washer and dryer on site and to switch out the upstairs Queen bed with two twins as our 8 and 11 year old weren't thrilled about sharing (twins can always be merged into a king for a couple). Would definitely stay here again though may bring a blow up bed so they don't have to share. Thanks.
