Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8 - Open and bright floor plan

Our log cabin has a great private location nestled in an aspen grove just minutes from Grand Lake. We are just steps away from Columbine Lake, a private 45 acre natural lake just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. This is the perfect getaway for a family vacation, romantic getaway, or reunion with friends. Our location backs up to private wooded land, allowing for lots of privacy and an abundance of wildlife to come near the cabin including Moose, Deer, Fox, and Elk. We are located on a dead end street with neighbors on one side only. Rocky Mountain National Park is 1 mile away and the Village of Grand Lake is just a couple minutes drive.

The interior of the cabin offers an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the great room. Natural log beams support the loft upstairs and a log railing follows the stairs up and across the loft, giving it that rustic touch. On the main floor is the 2nd bedroom with queen bed, full bath with shower and laundry, fully stocked kitchen, dining area, great room, and a bar area. Upstairs you will find a full bath with shower / tub, large master bedroom with a king sized log bed and twin bunk beds, and the loft with a trundle bed that serves as the third bedroom. The loft offers privacy from the rest of the cabin and opens up to the balcony outside.

In the evening, have a fire in the fire pit outside and gaze at the stars up above. Rustic log benches surround the fire pit along with adirondack chairs. Please note, firewood may not be available at the cabin and can be purchased in town. If you are planning to bring your dog, well behaved pets will be considered and a pet fee would be applied to your reservation if approved.

Grand Lake is a year round destination. During the summer you can enjoy boating on the 3 lakes (Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby), hiking, mountain biking, ATVs, 4th of July fireworks, and the list goes on. During the winter months this area is the snowmobiling capital of Colorado with over 100 miles of groomed trails. Skiing choices are plentiful between Ski Granby Ranch nearby, Winter Park and the legendary champagne powder of Steamboat Springs. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with it amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.

About Scott Belknap

We are a young family originally from Michigan currently residing in Castle Rock. We have missed the water until we came to Grand Lake! On our first vacation here we immediately fell in love with the area. The wildlife, lakes, and small town feel is what truly makes this area unique. We wanted a place for our family to spend time outdoors and experience all the benefits Colorado has to offer. Owning a log cabin has always been a dream of ours. Happy to say that dream has come true and we would like to share the experience with you and your family!

Why Scott Belknap chose Rocky Mountain National Park

It has always been a dream of ours to own a log cabin in the mountains. The hard part for us was finding a cabin with the right location. I can not say enough good things about the location of this cabin. It is close to everything that you may want to do year round in Colorado. Whether you like to get out on the water, hike, take the ATV out, snowmobile, ski / snowboard, view wildlife, photography, or enjoy hunting this area offers it all. Perhaps the greatest year round draw of the area is Rocky Mountain National Park with its amazing scenery and abundance of wildlife.

The property itself backs up to a large piece of private land, this offers more privacy than most cabins in the Columbine Lake area and provides the opportunity to view lots of wildlife including moose, bear, deer, fox, and elk. There is a balcony off the second level that allows you to look out and hopefully see a moose wondering. On the interior of the cabin you will find an open and bright floor plan, vaulted ceilings, and wood finish throughout giving it that true log cabin feel.

What makes this cabin unique

Private location in the trees with lots of wildlife encounters almost daily (mainly Moose, Deer, and Fox)! Columbine lake is just across the street

Great place and great location!

  • 5 of 5

The owner goes out of his way to accommodate his rental with everything you will ever need and more. We have rented several other cabins in Wyoming and South Dakota and this one has been the best one we've ever had the privilege to stay at. Highly recommend!

Wonderful time at the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a terrific time at the cabin; place was very beautiful and peaceful! We had 5 adults and 2 kids staying at the cabin, and it was very comfortable. Very large kitchen and dining/living area, that was well stocked with utensils/games/etc. We cooked several meals in the kitchen, and grilled outside. Sleeping quarters were great as well (if you sleep in the upstairs loft, ask about the shade over the door to help block the sun in the morning). It was very comfortable with the windows open, even though it was 50 degrees at night. We loved it.

Had a wonderful time sitting out by the fire pit at night (bring your own wood, and be sure to check for any fire bans). From our window, we saw a mother/baby deer several days, and also had a visit from a fox on the porch itself one evening! We did also manage to see a moose down by the lake (which is just a short walk away), and down in the vacant field next door. I highly recommend driving into Rocky Mtn Park, where we saw 50+ elk.

Overall it was a great trip, and we loved the cabin! Hope to visit again sometime in the future.

Charming Cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is so sweet and cozy! We hosted my brother and nephew from Connecticut and this was a wonderful way to show them our beautiful Rocky Mountains. The kitchen is fully equipped, the cabin was very clean, modern and comfortable. We saw three moose in the area and loved sitting out by the campfire and dinning together at the dinning table. The owner was fabulous with all the details and responded right away on any inquiry we had. A wonderful experience!

This cabin is amazing and we loved being this close to RMNP!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this comfortable cabin and saw moose, elk, deer and fox everyday in the park. Every day we had at least one moose in the yard either in the evening or laying down in the mornings. It's very comfortable and clean. Everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation.

We will definitely be back!

Perfect Family Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased to find such a wonderful place to stay so close to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park! So much like home we were sad to leave. Our three kids loved staying in the bunk room, looking out the window to see moose, fox and mule deer up close and walking down to play at the playground at the nearby lake. It was great to come home after hiking in RMNP to grill out and have a campfire. We highly recommend this place for people with kids looking for a quiet cabin stay in the mountains away from the hustle and bustle. Thanks so much for letting us stay. We will definitely be back!
