Cousins Cottage is an adorable 3 bedroom cottage located on the lake. It is within walking distance to Main Street , the grocery store, restaurants, and parks. Manteno is a small community of good people. There are many clubs and activites run by volunteers in our village. Our roots are of Indian beginnings. The name Manteno is anglicized from the Indian maiden Manteneau, who once lived here. Collectors of arrowheads have found many relics in the fields of local farmers. People in Manteno love our community, with its beautiful parks and small town feel. There are only 4 street lights in the entire town. We are close to Bourbonnais , Bradley, and Kankakee on the south and Peotone on the north. Chicago is just a 45 minute drive from here to the Magnificent Mile.

About Annette LaMore
We have lived in Manteno all of our lives. Annette grew up on Lakeview Drive and knows the area and the lake very well. She spent her summers as a lifeguard when she was in high school. Rondy worked at his dad's gas station on Main Street. in fact, Rondy and Annette met at the gas station when she was 16 and he was 19. She pulled in to the pump to get gas for the first time after getting her driver's license. Rondy was working that day! There was an instant attraction between them. They broke up with the people they were going with and started dating. The rest is history!
Annette LaMore purchased this Cottage in 1999
Why Annette LaMore chose Manteno
Cousins Cottage is named for Annette's cousins who also lived on the lake at 71 W 5th. The cousins used to play in the backyard together. When their family moved to the other side of town the house was sold. Forty years later, when the house went up for sale, Rondy and Annette decided to purchase it and have been renting it out since.
What makes this Cottage unique
Fishing is fun on Lake Manteno. Paddleboats are even more fun! You will enjoy the beauty of nature and all the wildllife you'll see. We have ducks, geese, turtles, frogs, lots of fish, many different kinds of birds including heron and hawks. Rabbits and squirrels love it here too!

Spacious cottage, quiet, so close to downtown
We had a great stay at Cousins Cottage, we only wish we would have had an extra day to just hang out at the cottage. It was clean, roomy, and COOL (temps were in upper 90s during our stay). It was so nice to come back from our daily activities, cool off and just relax!
Downtown Manteno is a short walk down the street and a stroll down the main street takes you back in time. We walked to two different restaurants.
Loved the cottage. Very warm and cozy. Really loved the little sun room. Back yard was so inviting
We had a class reunion in Manteno and a group of us girls spent several nights at the cousin cottage. We each had our own bed and there was lots of laughter around the dining table. We were welcomed with fresh banana bread baked by Annette and Rondy was there to explain anything we might have questions about. We sat by the lake and had wine in the afternoon and coffee in the morning. We all felt very much like Home. Some of our other classmates stopped by and there was plenty of room to have fun. Rondy and Annette could not have been any nicer. Would recommend to anyone who wants to feel like you’re at home away from home. Will return.
We make a lot of new friends because of our rentals. Sometimes dear friends from our high school days stay in our cottages on the lake. Becky is one of those friends. In fact, she used to live in this very house when she was in school. It brought back many fond memories for her to stay in her former family home. We were thrilled that she was here and we appreciated her nice comments about Cousins Cottage. She and her girlfriends recalled the slumber parties they had long ago right here. Thank you, Becky, for sharing the history of the house with us. We are glad you enjoyed your reunion. We treasure your friendship and hope to see you again soon!

Had a wonderful time at Cousin's Cottage! Enjoyed the "little lake" and the fishing boat that was provided. Thanks for bringing the battery charger down for us, we needed it. The cottage was very clean and cozy. The beds/pillows were comfortable. Nice towels in bathroom, few beach towels for use in laundry room cabinet. Kitchen had basic pans, skillets, etc. We cooked meals with no problems. There was a charcoal grill available for use on back patio along with a table that seats 6. Comfortable sofa and 2 chairs on patio as well. Enjoyed relaxing in the Adirondack chairs that were facing the lake and fire pit. Would definitely stay here again.
Thank you, Anne, for staying at our cottage! We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit to our little lake. Meeting people like you is the best part of being VRBO/HomeAway owners.
We appreciate your kind words and hope that you will come back to see us again!

Very clean and spacious for 6 people.
Was a wonderful cottage, all was ready when we arrived and met owners as we were packing to leave. Everything worked well and layout of home was very nice. Felt very much at home! Games in the home were enjoyed by our granddaughter with grandpa and grandma. Sitting at table on back patio and enjoying coffee in the morning was just perfect with the breeze coming off the lake. House was quiet and there was not a lot of street traffic.
Thank you for choosing Cousins Cottage for your vacation getaway! We are so happy to share the tranquility of Little Lake Manteno and we are proud of our small town atmosphere. Our guests love the small shops and restaurants that we offer. We hope your family made lasting memories and that you will visit with us again!

Family Getaway on the Lake
Great cottage for our family visits when in the area. The cottage is quaint, with modern appliances, laundry and open common areas for people to spread out, enjoy meals, relax, play board games or just read. It's a quick, easy walk to shops, restaurants and bars if needed or to the local grain elevator if you've never seen one up close, which ours boys hadn't, haha!. Easy, two-minute drive to Highway 57. A late November visit was not the right time to truly enjoy the large backyard, patio, BBQ or the lake (brrr!), but perhaps in the future in a warmer month! Our hosts were fantastic, great communication. We will stay again - a far better choice than a hotel for a family of five!
Thank you for your nice comments and for choosing our rental for your visit! We hope you will stay with us again sometime soon!
