Wonderful natural setting, amazing people.
Nature abounds in this Real Jamaica experience. The ocean is beautiful as viewed from the deck. The trees are filled with fruits and birds.
Grace is a great cook and made us a few very delicious meals.
Take the tour with Papa Curvin to the Blue Hole. It was the highlight of our trip.
The fruit and vegetable market in Ocho Rios was a unique experience.
The cabins are just as pictured. Very quaint but not very comfortable. The bed was rock hard with old, scratchy sheets. We stayed two weeks, and had to ask for fresh towels and sheets after the first week. NO hot water for showers. The solar panel was under the trees so not really useful. The kitchen was well equipped with tea pot, coffee press, pots, and pans. I had no problems cooking meals for us .
Don’t miss the beaches in the area, Sugar Pot, James Bond, Fisherman’s. All beautiful.
The trip into the Blue Mts. is a long drive but worth the time . The mountains are fabulous and the coffee was so rich and delicious.
On the day before we left Real Jamaica the “Rasta Man” stopped by the cottage with a grey box, inside we’re home made vegetarian patties. That was some of the tastiest food I’ve ever eaten. Real down to earth cooking.
We were included in a soup dinner for the community’s older residents. Miss Annie, across the street, made a huge pot of delicious vegetable soup too share. We enjoyed music with a guitar & Curvin on the drum, and everyone singing. It was a great evening of food and music.
There is a wonderful sense of community in Race Course. People are helpful to each other, the elderly are cared for by friends and family, the children are encouraged and assisted with educational efforts. We saw true Jamaica through the eyes of the people. You will never get this sense of the country at a All-Inclusive Resort.
Thank you Papa Curvin, Joanna, Grace, Chester, Benny, Micheal, Marvin and all for a wonderful, memorable time at Real Jamaica 🇯🇲
Rustic cabin on ocean front
Rustic cabin, not fancy but clean. Papa Curvin, Son Harris, Wife, Grace made us feel, not like guests, but family. This was a real Jamaican experience-not one at a fancy resort that could have been anywhere where there is an ocean. Would RX to anyone not interested in luxurious surroundings in an artificial, tourist location but a relaxing spot, over looking the ocean in a non-tourist community. Remember, Jamaica is a poor, third-world country, but, with the nicest people that I have ever met in all my travels.
We had a great time with Papa Curvin and his family. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists and spend some quality time with the Jamaicans, this is the place! Oh and I can't forget to mention little Lucky, our puppy friend while there. Such a sweet dog who loves to follow us around and wait for our return whenever we went offsite. Such a relaxing time. Oasis of Good Vibes & Spirituality
We stayed at Real Jamaica during off season and to our surprise we were the only guests on the property! Real Jamaica is the real deal! it's a quiet homey property with wonderful cabins in the woods and at the end of the property is a wonderful deck sitting on the cliffs over looking the great Caribbean sea . We were able to enjoy the deck to ourselves with morning meditation and my partner playing his guitar while having coffee and eating the delicious breakfast which was prepared for us by our lovely host Grace!
The location is extremely convenient as it's on the main road. We were able to explore the surrounding areas such as Fire Fly, Ochos Rios (Ochie) Dunn's River Fall, rafting on White River, James Bond Beach, and we also found the most amazing Italian Jamaican Restaurant at The Harmony Hall Great House called Toscanini. I cannot say enough If you are looking to experience the "real Jamaica" I recommend the only place to stay is At The Real Jamaica! One Love!
Papa Curvin and Joanna are the best hosts! Great little cottage - very secluded. Miss Annie across the street will take care of your Red Stripe and take out needs. Dor's Fish Pot, just up the street is a must. We got to go on an excursion with Papa Curvin to the Blue Hole and Sugar Pot Beach - both were amazing! Dor's Fish Pot, just down the road is a must (ask for the conch salad!). The night before we left, Papa Curvin and Joanna came and just hung out on our deck with us for a couple hours. They are so down to earth and REAL. If we ever get back to Jamaica, we will definitely stay at Real Jamaica!
Simple. Beautiful. Off the beaten path.
My only lament is that I needed 2 more weeks there.
Everyone was wonderful to us- Papa Curvin, Grace, Johanna, Kurrency, and Cornelia, who emailed with me in the weeks leading up to our trip to help me with all of the logistics.
Beautiful people-- hospitable, warm, helpful, easy to talk to, extremely accommodating. We loved the property and it was the absolute perfect spot for us to stay- a good distance from the built up resorts and tourist developments of the island. We were free to do our own thing, had privacy, but the comfort of knowing the staff were just a few steps away and always there to answer any questions we had. We were utterly content with the simplicity of walking to town or the small provisions shops to pick up anything we needed, eating & drinking at roadside spots nearby, swimming at the nearby James Bond beach, sunbathing on the rocks by the cabin, lounging in hammocks, drinking lots of rum on the porch, and chatting up the Real Jamaica staff.
Hoping I'll be back in the not too distant future.
The cottage is situated above a rocky cliff on the popular northern coast in Oracabessa, an authentic little village with traditional fishing port. In prominent location yet far away from the tourist crowds!
Here you will find rest and relaxation in the large tropical garden or on the divine beach nearby.
You can also explore the island and make individual trips - we will be glad to give you advice and help you with organizing your excursions. If you want to get to know the country and the locals, we can also offer you some interesting tours.
Numerous tourist activities are available in the lively harbour town of Ocho Rios (18 km from the property). For example you may want to visit the botanical garden, the museums, Fern Gully or the waterfalls. You can also play golf or tennis, go horse riding or diving, swim with dolphins, etc.
Close to the property you will find various shops and restaurants.
