We had a great time at this beautiful home in Centerville.

  • 4 of 5

This was a great place for our family to spend time together. It was very spacious and we could enjoy games around the big dining room table or just visit in the huge sunroom. Lots to do in this area!! JP from NW Iowa

Lovely reunion space and location!

  • 5 of 5

We were four families reunited for a few days (a total of 16), and we couldn't have enjoyed our stay more. The house was large, homey and beautiful, with plenty of room for folks to congregate in the kitchen while cooking, or on the closed in porch in the evenings. Since we had young ones, we especially enjoyed the toy area (including tent and tunnel) and the outdoor games on the lawn. Getting in and out was easy, and Joshua (the owner) was a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend both Porter Hall and Centerville for reunions of any sort---you have the space to slow down and catch up, but with Lake Rathbun a few minutes away you can also get out in the sun and enjoy a day at the waterpark.

Will definitely be back!

Beautiful home in a great Iowa town!

  • 5 of 5

The home is huge and gorgeous! This is a lot of space which is perfect for a family like mine, we tend to break off into conversation groups, mixing and matching people all day long. Lots of great shops and places to eat in the town square (which is just a short walk away), and the lake has a number of nifty beaches. I highly recommend the Double R Dairy Bar for a cold treat.

Such a neat place!

  • 5 of 5

This house is pretty amazing. It's a gem! They had everything we needed and the owners were helpful and easy to communicate with. We will definitely be back. Considering all the options of places to stay in the area, this is by far the best option for the money.

Wonderful Christmas Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a family Christmas weekend. The house easily accommodated 18 of us (a few littles in sleeping bags). We were so thankful to find an affordable rental. So many places charge significantly for extra people but the owner was more than happy to host our group. We had 8 adults and 10 children, ranging in age from 1-17. Not once did I feel like we had to tiptoe around with the little ones. There was plenty of space for them to run and clean up was easy. The kitchen had everything we needed (paper towels, trash bags, dish soap and towels, crock-pot, blender, toaster, microwave, hot water pot, coffee pot). We did bring a big stack of paper plates to accommodate our group size and eliminate the worry of the little ones breaking glass dishes. The two eating spaces allowed for everyone to be able to sit and eat. We loved that there was no carpet in the kitchen/eating spaces. The fireplace was toasty and wonderful. It is important to know that the patio area is pretty cold in the wintertime and we kept the doors to it shut. (Of course, when we were there it was below zero and snowing!) Centerville has everything you need (at least 3 grocery stores, Walmart, a beautiful downtown square) We also loved having YMCA right across the block. In the middle of snowstorm, we just walked over and went swimming ($13 per family). One note on the office bedroom. It has a twin trundle bed (twin bed with twin underneath). The closet had a twin roll-a-way bed too. Since it was so cold while we were there and the room is situated on the second floor above an unheated entryway, the room was quite a bit colder than the others. Bring extra blankets and leave that door open in the winter and you'll be just fine. There were several pack n plays available along with plenty of nice towels and extra blankets and pillows. Every family had there own bedroom/bathroom on the second level but they were far enough apart that we didn't disturb each other. The owner was always very responsive to us we loved our snowy Christmas weekend at the Tutor House. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
