"A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature." Henry David Thoreau

The Maple Leaf Lodge sleeps up to eight comfortably and features a large loft bedroom on the second floor. We offer a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and continually updated modern furnishings. The decor is “northwoods chic” with interesting antique pieces interspersed. Expect no cell phone signal, however, those with the latest smartphones will find wifi calling accessible. The property is located toward the end of a very quiet dead end lane on beautiful Moose Lake in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest.

About Deb Miller

We have recently purchased this lovely property from dear friends who have loved and cared for this property since 2007. It is a simple property that we know we will enjoy with our adult children and growing family of new grandbabies. We will attempt to spend every minute we can on Moose Lake in spring, summer and fall. Winter months we plan to come up to ski, snowshoe, or ice skate on the lake. Or, just kick with a good book and a roaring fire. We love it because it is so family friendly.

Deb Miller purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Deb Miller chose Northern Wisconsin

My husband grew up on a river and with the 10,000 lakes of northern Minnesota. We are so excited to get back to those “cabin” roots! We have spent time as renters of this cabin and as friends of the previous owners. When the opportunity arose to purchase the property we knew it was right for us because of the love and care that they have put into maintaining and upgrading the property and the mentorship they are providing to sustain this quality rental. The property has an amazing view and lakeshore quality. The cabin is elevated and south facing so the afternoon sun just dances off the water. There's also usually the benefit of a gentle breeze. The Maple Leaf Lodge sits toward the end of a quiet lane and has its own long driveway so no one really is able to see down to the cabin when the leaves are on the trees. As far as natural setting, it's really everything you hope a cabin to be. Easy access, paved road, stunning lakeshore, nice big trees (maples, of course), abundant wildlife and plenty of peace and quiet.

What makes this cabin unique

We purchased this property with the goal to continue a unique vacation experience for visitors to the Moose Lake area. There is a lot of attention to detail in the cabin and we are very proud of the fact that most guests return year after year. One guest described the cabin as 'not overly north-woodsy. It's got that feel but also very tastefully done with high quality appliances and furnishings.’ I hope you are able to come up and see for yourself. We look forward to affording you, your family and friends a true Northwood lake vacation experience.

A summer stay at Maple Leaf Lodge is our family tradition!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 11th stay at this comfy cabin on Moose Lake. Whether you want to relax inside with a movie, sit by the campfire, float on the water, or launch your pontoon for some lake time, this cabin and lakefront has what you need for a relaxing family vacation. This year, a doe and 2 fawns greeted us nearly every morning. We also had a special treat with 4 river otters swimming near the dock. We highly recommend the Maple Leaf Lodge.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the kind review. We so appreciate your loyalty ( despite good and bad weather conditions). We can't stage the weather or wildlife experiences so we are so happy your most recent stay was remarkable. Thanks again for taking the time to write a kind review. We look forward to your stay next summer. Deb and Lee.

Cozy cabin in the north woods!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Maple Leaf Lodge over Birkie weekend 2017 with a couple of friends. Although the Birkie was cancelled, we still had a great time hanging out at the cabin and in Hayward. The cabin is beautiful and the large dining table was great for dinner gatherings. Our group made pasta one night and grilled on what looked like a brand new Weber kettle grill the next night. The gas stove kept the place nice and warm all weekend and created a nice, cozy atmosphere. We brought our young kids with too and they loved climbing around on the bunk beds upstairs and looking out over the loft. The falling snow outside only added to the already great atmosphere. Deb was also a great host who was easy to get a hold of and very accommodating. Highly recommended if you're looking for a nice place to stay in Wisconsin's north woods!

Great little cabin.

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little cabin and perfect for a winter getaway. Exactly as described. Also, the owners were incredibly helpful when we lost our keys and quickly contacted the caretaker who let us in the cabin. Would stay here again.

The Maple Leaf Lodge is located 30 miles east of Hayward Wisconsin on beautiful Moose Lake. Even though the area is famous for it's many freshwater lakes, the Hayward area also provides world class 'off water' fun. Road biking, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, cross country skiing are just some of the activities waiting for you. Be sure to pencil in a day to explore Hayward's quaint shops and many wonderful restaurants. Hayward is home to the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, 'The Big Musky'. A one of a kind attraction in North America.
