Railay is famous for its beautiful beaches and rock climbing due to the soaring cliffs that flank the landscape all around.
Hike up to the 'Railay Viewpoint' for scenic views of the Phra-Nang Headland and if you're fit for the challenge, try 'The Lagoon.' Best to wear proper shoes. During high tide you can swim in the lagoon.
Phra-Nang (Princess) Cave & Beach are a 15~20 minute walk or short boat ride around the headland. The beach is known for its white sand and views. Snack boats sell drinks and food. The cave is legendary. Home to a mythical sea princess with a collection carved wooden phallic symbols believed to help with fertility.
Book a long-tail boat to nearby Poda Island for stunning white sand all around and snorkelling or enjoy a 4 Island Boat Tour easily booked while you are here.
Koh Hong, Koh Tup, Koh Mor and Phi Phi Islands are also very popular. Go early to avoid the crowds and large tours. National Park Fees may apply.
Foodies will enjoy the truly authentic Thai 'Maharaj Morning Market' in Krabi Town for an amazing array of fresh foods and local goods. Best to get there early and observe the local way of life. They also sell food and drinks at affordable prices. Coffee shops are nearby.
Visit Wah Tham Sua 'Tiger Cave' with a 1,272 step climb to the temple for a spiritual experience, or tour the sacred grounds below. It is home to monks who worship and live there. You must dress respectfully.
True Elephant Sanctuaries are a bit further but offer opportunities to feed and care for the elephants. No riding or chains.
