We are pleased that you might stay with us at our family retreat "Alpine Junction" cabin.

Alpine Junction cabin is conveniently just 1 mile off Hwy 385 in-between Deadwood and Hill City in the heart of the Black Hills. Our physical address is:

22487 Alpine Acres Dr.

Deadwood, SD 57732

Whether you are in the Hills to enjoy the scenery, see the sites, ski/snowmobile, hike/bike, hunt/fish, gamble or just relax - you've found the perfect spot from which to do it all! There isn't a site to see that's more than an hour away.

We are located a short drive from nearby Terry Peak and Deer Mountain ski areas for winter sports and over 350 miles of snowmobile trails are just 10 minutes away. You'll want to bring your fly fishing rod and/or tackle & poles because our cabin is located around some of best stream and lake fishing in the Dakotas. Great water skiing is a close 8 miles away at Lake Pactola where you can rent boats, canoes and kayaks. For nearby hiking and biking - we are also only 8 miles from the Mystic trail-head and only 10 miles from the Rochford trail-head on the beautiful 109 mile George S. Mickelson Trail. Great golfing is available at Lead Country Club [Lead], Tomahawk Lake Country Club [Deadwood], Meadowbrook Golf Course [Rapid City], Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club [Spearfish] and Rocky Knolls Golf Course [Custer]. If indoor sports are more your game (gaming/gambling and fine dining) Deadwood is only 19 miles up Highway 385.

Our cabin is nestled on a hillside above a scenic valley with a meandering creek below. Only 1 mile off Highway 385 west on the Rochford Road on Alpine Acres Drive. The 1 acre property features a large circular drive with parking area that can accommodate multiple vehicles including smaller RVs, trailers (ATV/snowmobile/boat/motorcycles) and several automobiles and/or motorcycles.

A wide bridge leads from the circular drive onto the double-width wrap around covered deck overlooking the creek and valley below. The entryway leads into the vaulted ceiling living room with sleeper sofa, recliner, flat screen TV (DVD/Dish) with fireplace and ceiling fan. There are two bedrooms off the living rooms both featuring queen size beds with closets - one which features full bath with tub/shower combo and heated towel rack. The family room is located down the circular metal stairway and features a large wood-burning stove with charming brick wall, couch, chair with ottoman and wall mounted flat screen TV with DVD. The dining area features a large round glass topped table that seats six (4 TV trays area also available). The fully stocked kitchen features a dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, oven, microwave and coffee maker. There is also a separate electric turkey oven for your Thanksgiving delight. A third bedroom with full size bed and closet is off the family room. A downstairs utility room features pantry, washer/dryer, vanity with sink, shower and toilet. There are two doors (one full glass sliding) leading from the family room out onto the covered porch area featuring seating area, porch swing and gas grill.

If the beautiful scenery and abundance of outdoor activities don't suit (or it's raining) we have plenty of entertainment options available. Games, cards and dominoes are available for your use. Additionally there are two big flat-screen TV’s with DISH satellite service and DVR, 2 DVD players and plenty of DVDs for your viewing pleasure. Satellite internet with WiFi is available. Cell service is now present if you have AT&T networking or can piggyback off of AT&T towers.

great get away

  • 5 of 5

The weekend was our last trip to the Black Hill for an ATV trail ride for the year. The cabin is located in a perfect location for us. We arrive at the property and it was nice and clean and ready for us. The cabin was well stocked on all the necessities to accommodate us. We were very comfortable there and enjoyed our stay. Thanks again

Comforts of home in the wonderful wilderness

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 nights here the last week of September. Upon arrival, we were exhausted from a long drive but quickly noticed how clean and homey the cabin was! The cabin is well cared for and had all the comforts of home. We were able to go straight to sleep without a care in the world. The next morning we were able to explore the property and were greeted by wild turkeys and small birds who enjoyed the bird feeders. There was ample room for 4 adults to sleep comfortably, great amount of parking (we parked a 17 foot trailer and an SUV), and the kitchen was stocked with useful cooking tools and dishware. The wifi is spotty but that did not inhibit our time at the cabin. There is a gas grill that worked perfectly for a dinner we decided to make at home. The cabin has two tvs with Dish network. The scenery in the Black Hills is like nothing else and this cabin is the perfect place to immerse oneself in the mystery of the national forest with all the comforts of home. Thank You Mike and Jan for sharing your wonderful home!

Nice cabin, beautiful view

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is well maintained and the management was quick to resolve a couple of issues that came up with the property. The view was wonderful. We enjoyed watching deer in the meadow, the birds at the feeders as well as the chipmunks. We even had seven our eight turkeys visit the feeders! All that plus being near to many attractions made this a great place to stay. Would definitely book here again if we are back in the area.

Location worked great!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the location, central to most of what we wanted to see. Place itself had everything we could have needed and worked out really well for us. Also tried the pizza at Cousin's pizza, was really good and the staff was very friendly and helpful, would definitely go there again.

Would also use this cabin again if the need arose. Thanks for everything.

Peaceful and Serene!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the cabin! In just six short days, we were able to see all of the main attractions in South Dakota from Mt. Rushmore (3 times), Crazy Horse, Badlands, feeding the prairie dogs, Custer, Wall Drug, Corn Palace in Mitchell, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Rapid City, Silver City, Hill City, antique car museum, Art Alley, Rough Lock Falls in Spearfish, and the ICBM missile site! Over 1650 miles on the rental car, only to come back to a wonderful, peaceful and serene cabin! The valley surrounding the cabin is so peaceful and quiet. We sat out on the deck each night and enjoyed the surroundings, while listening to birds, and watching the deer come through the meadow! It just doesn't get any better than this!

While we did have a slight issue with the obtaining the internet and Wifi, we understand this is going to be corrected in the near future. The house has all the comforts of home so we never needed for anything. We just picked up groceries on the way in and fixed dinner every single night. Everything you need is at the house and we never needed to purchase anything additional! All details were taken care of! Thank you so much for making our visit to South Dakota a pleasant one! We certainly look forward to returning again!

Beautiful views, Convenient Location

  • 5 of 5

Mike and Jen Becker's home was an absolute joy to experience while me and my Fiance were there in early June 2017. The upper and lower porches were perfect for sitting out in the morning and evenings to relax and enjoy the peace and quite. There was an occasional car or ATV that would drive by, but a very quiet and secluded area for the most part. This is the exactly the experience we needed and it was so refreshing to have that for a week. It was in a great location for touring the Badlands and Black Hills! We were about 25-45 minutes from any destination we wanted to check out (other than Devil's Tower which was almost a two hour drive but that's okay!).

If we return to this area, I would definitely stay here again. It was a great home for a week and I am so glad they shared it with us :)
