About Ken Cross and Patti Sharp
Ken moved to the area in 1982 from Florida, and Patti arrived 10 years later. We met in 1996 and have been together ever since. In 2007, we bought our West Asheville home on the top of our Knob because of the spectacular view and privacy. Ken retired in 2008, and Patti is semi-retired. Patti is a part-time potter and has her studio in the basement of the home. Ken enjoys photography, and we both love to travel and are scuba divers. We love to host our guests at The Top O' The Knob Chalet, and hope to meet and help our guests learn more about Asheville. We've been doing this for two years and are starting on our third year as hosts. Love to have you stay with us!

In the woods but close to town
We enjoyed our stay at Top O' The Knob very much. The cabin was clean and we loved sitting on the porch drinking a glass of wine.
We felt comfortable inside too. I slept very well in the King size bed and the room was bigger than your average motel room.
Ken welcomed us, but after that we had our privacy.
We are more "hikers" than "shoppers" so we spent most of our time on the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway, looking over the wonderful views and hiking up to steep lookouts.
Asheville has enough shops to keep those interested busy. We had a very good breakfast at an organic restaurant we just stumbled across. We wandered around and our favorite was The Grove, a very nice building which we admired for the architecture and a wonderful book and champagne store. They don't make them like that anymore.
For dinner we twice went back to the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company which is certainly worth a trip, it is huge but one of a kind but you still can dine there without having to yell at each other.
The food and beer were great, but what we liked most was being able to go outside and linger on nice wooden chairs on the grass with a beer and watching the kids play. It also offers tours, but we're not that much into tours.
Overall we had a great stay.
Karine, thank you for the wonderful review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay even though you had to leave a day early. We hope everything is ok and you had a safe trip home. Please come back and see us again sometime. Ken and Patti
Perfect little place!
This is probably the best rental property I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. It is located in a perfect part of Asheville, quiet and secluded while being 15 minutes or less from all kinds of food, beer, and shopping! Sometimes these properties in the mountains are hard to get to or precariously perched high up- Ken and Patti’s place is perfectly nestled at the top of a hill and their parking lot is large. The road isn’t very busy when you’re leaving or getting back either. We felt very safe and had everything we needed! Ken and Patti have thought of every question you might have and have answers in their guidebook and on signs displayed all throughout the suite. Comfortable king bed, nice double shower and spa tub, and a tv where we could relax and watch Netflix at night. There’s even a Keurig for morning coffee. Ken and Patti were always available, from when we had some issues with the Roku and always greeting us asking about our adventures every evening. I would come back to this place in a heartbeat! Something I didn’t realize until our last night there- stargaze from the porch at night!! The stars are so big and bright out in this area.
WOW! Elissa, what a fantastic review. Thank you so much. Apparently you loved our place as much as we do. It is a wonderful spot. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. You folks were so quiet we hardly knew you were here. You also left the room in wonderful condition. Please come back and see us again sometime. Consider it your little hide away in the beautiful Smokey Mountains. Be sure to notify us in advance if you decide to come stay again, and we'll be sure to give you that discount we told you about. Thanks again.
Ken and Patti.
Of all the places I could've stayed, I'm glad I chose this one!
The studio was bigger than it appears in the pictures, and was immaculate. Nicely furnished and decorated. The owners were warm and welcoming.
Sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee on a cool mountain morning was the best!
I'll definitely stay there again!

As good as advertised!
We really enjoyed our stay at "Top O' The Knob." the property is very well maintained and the unit itself was clean, roomy, and private. The property is also in a good location, it is just out far enough to be nice and quite but also close enough to be convenient. Ken and Patti were great hosts and they have a lot of great ideas if you are needing suggestions on what to do while visiting. We would recommend their place for a fun stay!

Perfect weekend getaway!
Ken and Patti were absolutely incredible! The property was exactly as pictured and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They were very knowledgeable about the city and gave us some incredible recommendations...our favorites were Sierra Nevada Brewery and the trolley. We could not have asked for a more perfect weekend. Thank you so much! We can’t wait to stay again!!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We really like it when we recommend something for our guests to do and it turns out to be a good experience for them. Please come back and see us again sometime. You are always welcome. Ken and Patti
