Photos and Description of this Flagstaff holiday apartment

1BR, LR/DR w. futon sofa bed, full-size kitchen, 1BA w. shower, toilet & vanity/sleeps 4 comfortably

Our apartment is attached to the back side of the main house with a separate entrance through the single car garage. It is situated on a wooded lot with high Ponderosa pines in a quiet neighborhood. The small, cozy, fully furnished apartment has one bedroom, a living-dining room with futon sofa bed, bathroom with shower, sink and toilet and a fully equipped full-size kitchen with stove / oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and microwave oven. Dishes, towels and bed linens are being provided. Cable television and wireless network are available. The use of our washer (60 °C program) and dryer is negotiable. Available year round (please check calendar). The shared wall used to be an outside wall and is very well insulated and noise proofed. There is wooden deck or common area, which can be shared. Guest will have first choice, though, if they have a preference for privacy. The apartment in Flagstaff is the ideal 'base camp' for day trips (tours guided b owner available) and offers an opportunity to take care of your own meals without having to go and eat out all the time.

We have two friendly family dogs - a long hair German Shepherd (7 yrs.) and an English Golden Lab (8 yrs.). They usually have free access to the yard during the warmer months of the year, but can be kept inside with the door closed, if this should be a concern for our guests.

Flagstaff - near the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Flagstaff is located in the middle of a prehistoric volcanic field on a high desert plateau (approximately 7000 ft.) at the foot of the San Francisco Peaks (12,633 ft.) and along the legendary Route 66. The city is also the gateway to the majestic Grand Canyon in the north. It is close to the Sonoran Desert, Sedona and the famous red rock landscape in the south. In the east, it rises over the grass and steppe landscape leading to the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. To the west lies the Mohave Desert taking you to Las Vegas. The mountains of the San Francisco Peaks, with the four highest peaks in the state, Humphreys Peak (12,633 ft.), Agassiz Peak (12,356 ft.), Fremont Peak (11,969 ft.) and Abineau peak (11,838 ft.), are visible from quits some distance, no matter which direction you are coming from.

Quiet suburban location with proximity to city center: The ideal location of the apartment, only 10 min. away from the University (NAU/Northern Arizona University) and the historic old town with houses and storefronts preserved in the 'Wild West'-style dating back to the early days of this railroad and logging town invites you to undertake further explorations. There are plenty of opportunities for shopping and guided tours throught the historic district with hotels hotels, court and prison buildings doning their original fassades. The historic train staton and a selection of restaurants such as the 'Galaxy Diner' (a typical restaurant in the 50's-style), the 'Beaver Street Brewery ', the' Flagstaff Brewery '(local breweries) will prevent you from ever being bored. The 'Lowell Observatory' (observatory, where Pluto was discovered), the 'Riordan Mansion' (manor house from the early pioneer days), the 'Pioneer Museum', the 'Museum of Northern Arizona' and many galleries offer a glimpse into the history and present day cultural life of this vibrant city.

Excursions, sports, culture: Lava caves, ruins of the pueblo and cliff dwellings of the indigenous people (Anasazi, Hohokam, Mogollon) like 'Wupatki', 'Walnut Canyon, Montezuma Castle' and 'Tutzigot' national parks and a visit to the 'Navajo', 'Hopi', 'Havasupai', 'Hualapai', 'Yavapai', 'Apache' and many other tribes, provide the interested visitors with an overview of original and contemporary lifestyles of Native Americans. The 'Arizona Snowbowl' (located 14 miles north of Flagstaff/ski area - base lift station at 9,200 ft.), the 'Nordic Ski Center' (Centre for Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing), sledding, golf, disc golf courses, mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering, ski touring, climbing, horse riding, paragliding and hang gliding, jeep tours, whitewater rafting, etc. on the Colorado River, as well as jet skiing, water skiing and water-tubing on Lake Powell at Glen Canyon Dam, offer a great variety of sports activities. Special Treat: Winetasting at local Arizona vineyards.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 nights in October and the rental had everything we needed. It was very clean and cozy. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen to make breakfast and dinner every day. We hope to be back in the area soon and will definitely stay at Anke's again.

We had a great time. The weather was perfect for mountain biking. The accommodation at Anke fit our needs. A great place to stay in Flagstaff.

She put us on to a very tasty Mexican restaurant El Captain. We will be back next year.

Nice little spot

  • 5 of 5

Everything about the place was clear and as described. Nice, clean kitchen, comfortable setting, quiet—generally a lovely spot. Navigating to and from the house can be slightly tricky but never posed a significant issue. All in all, a great, budget-friendly place to stay!

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

I had a great 2 week stay at Anke and Brian's apartment. Lots of room, quiet and a full kitchen which was great for cooking my own meals. They both went out of their way to make my stay comfortable and convenient. I would definitely stay with them again. Thanks!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

Excellent communication from the hosts, comfortable bed, plenty of space, fully stocked kitchen - Flagstaff is not the kind of town where to hang out in your hotel - so why pay expensive hotel prices? Brian and Anke delivered! Thank you very much - we will return.
