The perfect stay on LBK
We throughly enjoyed our time at the Treehouse . The house was clean and comfortable. My husband and son loved fishing off the dock and watching the birds and dolphins from the deck was a highlight of our stay. Kristin was a great host - very accommodating and easy to communicate with!

Longboat fun!!
We had a great time at “the tree house.” While the house construction type is atypical, we loved it!! The dock is right on the bay and made boating easy. We will go again.

Stunning home on bay
We spent two months at Treehouse which is a stunning home located on Sarasota Bay. The home was well stocked & very comfortable —especially the spacious deck that overlooked the water. We spent lots of time there — grilling & eating lots of meals @ the large table. We had no complaints. Kristin, the owner, was very accessible & responsive. I highly recommend the home.

Gorgeous Location
Beautiful property, with plenty of room for 6 people, including adequate privacy for all. Make sure everyone in your party is capable of climbing the 23 steps up to the house. The view is worth the climb! Tons of birds, and dolphins every day! The beaches on Longboat are gorgeous and we were able to walk to the closest one. The restaurants were fabulous! Make sure you try Shore and Mar Vista which are right in the village. Delicious and beautifully presented food at a reasonable price. Our hosts were friendly and concerned about making everything just right for us. Enjoy your stay. We certainly did!

About the host

Host profile image
I am a Florida native born in Tampa and raised on the northern tip of Longboat Key. My parents moved to Long boat when I was a and built a restaurant/bar. We offered boat rentals and I learned to fish, boat and love the Gulf Coast waters at a young age. I spent my days helping in the family restaurant and spending as much time as possible outside climbing trees, swimming and exploring the bayous and passes and inlets of the Sarasota Bay. My childhood home was on the other side of the bayou this home lies on, and I have many memories of canoeing and swimming in the bayou and playing on the local beach.
I spent 10 years living in Sweden as my former husband was a Swedish sailor. I raised my daughters in the archipelago in Sweden but always felt the pull back to my native Florida.
I eventually moved back with my daughters and moved the original home onto this site and raised them in the historic village. When my daughters grew up and moved out, my adventurous spirit eventually took me down to Panama where I currently live half the time and own an inn built out over the water and I spend the other half the year on my family homestead in Longboat.

Why they chose this property

I have watched tremendous growth in the last 70 years on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The Longboat Village is one of the few special spots that has changed very little over the years. It is as quiet and safe as it was when I grew up there and eventually when I raised my children there. The beaches are just as beautiful and pristine as when I was a young girl. The property itself has been untouched over the years. We had a small Florida cottage on it for 45 years until it burnt down. My daughters and I have travelled the world over and always find ourselves coming back to this special place. It is as beautiful and magical as anywhere I have been. When faced with walking away or rebuilding we knew we wanted to stay connected to such a unique spot with so many happy memories. We just completed rebuilding at the end of 2015.

What makes this property unique

The property itself has the old Florida charm. Being situated overlooking the pass and being surrounded by native vegetation makes it very unique. When we rebuilt our home we decided to be as organic as possible and use native cypress wood for the exterior and for accent walls on the interior. it has a tree house feel from the outside but when you walk into the space it has a modern, Scandinavian feel. It is situated in the sought after community of Land's End in the historic village. It is peaceful and serene with direct water access, docking access and an easy walk to the white powder beach overlooking the Gulf across the street from the village.
