About Elena Tsoukala
I was born in Athens and lived there until I was 32. Then I lived on the beautiful island of Chios. That was my vacation spot until 2015, when I decided that this was where I wanted to live permanently away from the noise of city life. Now I am working as a waitress in a beautiful coffee bistro right next to the airport. I love my job and I feel lucky to be surrounded by awesome collaborators. This is one of the best ways to meet people especially travelers. I know what it means to have good accommodation, friendly hosts and good information. So with this in mind I hope that I can fulfill all these requirements and ensure that your stay in Chios will be as you expected. I am very respectful of people’s privacy, so you will see me very little, unless you need my help for anything, of course. It will be my pleasure to do whatever I can to make all your needs so that you return home with the best memories.

Map
Our lovely house is located in Mesa Didima which is one of the medieval “Mastiha” villages in the southern part of Chios. Chios is a beautiful island and famous all over the world for its mastic production. This mastic extract from the mastic trees. For that reason all the villages of the southern part of the islands are called mastic villages. (Mastihohoria).
The Greek word “Didima” really means “twin”. Mesa Didima is a silent and small place with a lot of beautiful stone houses and narrow paths which are often very colorful and decorated with flowers.
Furthermore, the famous Greek writer and journalist Emmanuel Rhoides descends from this village. His aristocrat family had lived here.
If you want to go farther, see more, and reconnect with the vast beauty of nature, we have some extra ideas for you. Local attractions give destinations their distinct flavor.
The Monastery of “Agias Matronas” was built in 1470 and it is located very close to the house (1km distance), surrounded by the beauty of nature.
Following the road below you will meet the church of “Panagia Evaggelistria” in a beautiful and peaceful location. This is one of my favorite spot. Time in nature is the best medicine for stress. Take a break to relax. There you can find sweet silence, space and serenity. All the area has a lot of paths which you can follow to discover the nature beauties. But you have to be careful not to get lost.
Close by you will find the Centenarian olive tree Livierani which is between the two villages Mesa Didima and Kallimasia. It claims one of the first place, if not the size, at least in beauty, they believed that this olive three count over 1000 years of life.
Other point of interest around the village is the historical temple of “Panagia Sikelia” just 3 km from Mesa Didima. They believed was built around 1346.
Southern part of Chios has the best and most popular beaches of the island, which you have to visit, “enjoy” and explore.
You will also find a folder, which includes maps, general tourist information which I think will help you organize your staying.
