We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the cottage. It was tranquil, restful and had all the creature comforts of home. We took along our 2 dogs who had a ball swimming in the river and also walks in the nearby state park. Thanks to Andrew who was very pleasant and accommodating and we would have no hesitation returning or recommending the cottage to anyone.
Perfect little weekend getaway. No phones, no people. We went for an explore along some near by tracks and went for a fish along the river. 10/10 recommend for couples wanting to get away!
Beautiful and peaceful getaway right on the river. A beautiful little miners historic cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Andrew Matenson
Born in Melbourne but I moved here from Jindabyne, NSW. I have been a fishing guide for over 25 years, and for 18 years I ran a ski lodge in Perisher Valley.
Why they chose this property
Proximity to the river and holiday letting potential. The property feels remote but is readily accessible from Mansfield and is close to the resorts of Buller and Stirling for skiing. The Howqua is an iconic Victorian trout stream and the fishing can be fantastic.
What makes this property unique
Properties with Howqua frontage are like hens teeth. There was nothing better at the time we bought, and there has been nothing better since.
