About Francoise

Retired teacher from college, Grammar School and later, University ( Paris 8)

One daughter married with three sons; Head of IT in a manufacturing industry in Preston (Lancs) Chief governor of a Special School in Blackpool

Francoise purchased this apartment in 1984

Why Francoise chose 18th Arrondissement Montmartre

Loved the local scene, particularly the bright colours under this northern sky.

What makes this apartment unique

Direct access to the outside was terribly important to me as was the fact that, surrounded by private and communal gardens, the flat was free of traffic noise, particularly in the early hours when lorries start delivering.

Beautiful apartment, close to the metro, spacious and comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

I loved my stay! The apartment was lovely, and had everything one could need. It had a charming atmosphere with beautiful terraces. It was very easy to access the metro and was walking distance from many landmarks in Montmartre. I would absolutely return!

Nice enough place, minor problems, not a great area

  • 3 of 5

The place itself was fine - very clean with plenty of space. While the place was clean, it was less than sanitary. There was no soap in either of the bathrooms and we were not given more toilet paper when we needed some. If you decide to stay here, bring your own soap and maybe pick up some extra toilet paper if you can.

Furthermore, the clothes dyer door did not close properly with no attempt from the owners to repair the problem.

The pictures shown describe it accurately, but it was in a sketchy part of town. It was about a 15 minute walk to the top of hill at Montmartre, which is when the area becomes more comfortable for tourists.

Owner's Response: Dear Diane, I am so sorry you were disappointed with your stay in my place. I can well understand your initial anger, when you first arrived, for the 45€ taxi fare and needless hour and a half spent in the cab when in fact, Gare du Nord to my flat ( less than a mile away) usually takes our visitors five to seven minutes and around 8€. It is true that I do not furnish personal toilettries. Nowadays, the majority of people are very particular about the ingredients they will put on their skin and prefer something of their own choosing. I should like to apologise for the fact that there was, after finishing the two on-going toilets rolls + the two spare ones in the cupboard below the washhand basin in the loo + the other two kept in the bathroom , no more spare rolls available. I hope you were able to buy a two-roll pack in the small supermarket opposite our building. In good faith, Mme Conroux thought that she had left enough for 3 people for four nights. Problem with the clothes dryer: you are absolutely right, the handle got broken some time ago. I immediately seized the opportunity to replace it by a more modern combined washer-dryer which you saw next to the dishwasher. I could have removed the old dryer but this would have left a big gaping hole below the eye-level oven as my Italian design kitchen is no longer made and I couldnt buy a matching floor cupboard to fill the gap. When I renew the kitchen completely I will remove it. Getting to the basilica of the Sacre-Coeur built on top of the tallest hill in Paris can be made fairly easily and perhaps more interestingly if you use the itenerary I suggest in my mail prior to arrival, but you are right, it takes about fifteen minutes on foot whichever way. I wish you success with the remainder of your journey and hope Paris may see you again one day!

Spacious, comfortable flat

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this marvelous flat with theee other women. Each of us had a bed and there was plenty of room for all of us. We especially enjoyed looking out onto the little garden terrace and hearing the birds in the morning. And in fact, in spite of being right in the city, it was very quiet.

Everything we needed in the kitchen was there and there was a wonderful market right across the street as well as a pastry shop on the block.

The woman that greeted us was lovely and very helpful. I would highly recommend

this rental.

Muy buena opción en París

  • 5 of 5

Nos gustó mucho el departamento, a pocas cuadras del metro 4 y 12, y se llega caminando a montmartre en pocos minutos. Tiene todas las comodidades necesarias para una buena estadía a un precio mejor que los hoteles

Great apartment.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay in Paris. The owner could not have been more helpful. Any questions were answered quickly. We wanted to arrive earlier than the stated time, this was arranged without question and we had use of the garage. The apartment was much bigger than we expected and had everything we needed. Though on a busy street the apartment is away from the road so no noise was heard. We were only a short walk to a Metro station, through a bustling area. We felt perfectly safe and happy to walk around. We used the supermarket opposite the apartment and also found nearby bread shop. We used a Paris Pass which made our visit even easier. Would happily stay here again.
