About Sarah Dowding
I now manage the chalet on behalf of my mother, who purchased Chalet La Taupiniere in 1988. We had previously owned another chalet in the village since 1978. So I have grown up holidaying in Moleson and we really love both the chalet and the area.
Sarah Dowding purchased this Chalet in 1988
Why Sarah Dowding chose Gruyères
My parents jumped at the chance to buy La Taupiniere as it had the fabulous indoor swimming pool and more space. Unlike most chalets in Moleson the parking is right outside, on flat ground, and there are no steps to the chalet. It is also situated in a very quiet no-through road with just 8 other chalets and there are open fields to the front, so it's very peaceful. As it's been our holiday home for so long, it really is a 'home' - well equipped, nicely furnished and the little touches and details that lift the chalet from being a mere 'soulless rental' to a homely base for your holiday.
What makes this Chalet unique
I love being in a lovely little village in the mountains, yet it is so easy to get into the main town of Bulle and to other places in Switzerland. Compared to many ski chalets that are a long way up a mountain, where it's nigh-on impossible to leave once there, Moleson is really well located. So whether you want more skiing, restaurants, supermarkets, the tourist attractions of Gruyeres and the area, or the larger cities of Fribourg, Bern and Geneva - it's all really easy to access. A really great year-round holiday home.

Fantastic family alpine getaway
Our mixed group LOVED this place! The 7&8 year olds were thrilled with the pool and the summer activities in our doorstep (esp the bob luge!) We all adored the views, the walks, the accessibility of stunning scenery, the food, the convenient location. A really memorable happy holiday I’ll never forget. We will certainly return
Thanks Rebecca! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Best wishes, Sarah
Beautiful Spot!
La Taupiniere is a sweet little Chalet, very tastefully decorated and very comfortable for our party of 8.
It‘s located at the end of a road with no traffic or noise, but in walking distance to the lift and La Fromagerie d‘Alpage, which we went to almost daily... 😉 They make their own cheese, and their Fondue and Raclette are delicious. Their apricot „tarts aux fruits“ was to DIE for!
The location of the house is also great for hiking right from your front door.
We used the pool and sauna almost daily, what a treat!
The kitchen was a little small, but manageable.
The pretty villages of Bulle and Gruyere are just a few miles away, with plenty of Shops.
We all loved our time there, and it was hard to leave...
Thanks Erika,
We are delighted you loved the chalet. We try and make sure it's a home from home as much as possible. We have plans to make the kitchen bigger too - in the not too distant future I hope.
Best wishes
Sarah
Beautiful summer holiday
We loved La Taupiniere and Moleson. A perfect base for a family holiday with plenty to do. The chalet is really comfortable and the pool was wonderful.
Clark Family Summer Holiday 2018
Four of us adults stayed for just under two weeks. Chose the property because of the number of bedrooms and for the pool. We loved it. Perfect size overall for us. The pool was used almost every morning and night. Very good for a house pool for swimming lengths and good that consistent depth for adults. Wonderful atmosphere around the house both inside and out. Really enjoyed the consistent cowbells throughout the day.
Travelled extensively with house being a good central location especially if trying to get up to the mountains. Skied at Zermatt just of a day and completed an overnight hike finishing up at Grindelwald Lake where we had a cold awesome swim.
Only reason not a five star is because of the size of the kitchen. Just lacks sufficient counter and storage space but okay to get by if very organised and only one person in the kitchen preparing.
Would love to return one day.
Sogno moleson
Thank you Bernardo. I am so pleased you loved Chalet La Taupiniere and we look forward to welcoming you back in July for another holiday.
Fabulous Ski Holiday in tradition Swiss Ski chalet
Just back from a lovely skiing holiday in a beautiful chalet “La Taupiniere.” Recommendation from friends and couldn’t fault it. Warm homely chalet perfectly described with accompanying pictures. Gorgeous location only minutes from the funicular taking you to the beautiful Swiss mountains for some breathtaking scenery and amazing skiing for all levels. Mountain top restaurants with far reaching views over Switzerland. The chalets location allows easy access to Gstaad, Gruyere and other local towns & villages to sample delicious fondue and other local dishes without driving for miles. The Swiss were delightful and the area scenically beautiful and clean. On our return to the chalet a quick dip in the private swimming pool before a well earnt G&T! Looking so much to returning.
Thank you for your lovely review Simon. We look forward to welcoming you again some time soon.
Map
La Taupiniere is located in the small alpine village of Moléson-sur-Gruyeres, surrounded by pastures, yet only 15km away from the N12 Autoroute. Geneva is about 70 miles/125km away, and Airport & Palexpo (exhibition centre) is 75 minutes by road.
Winter/Ski: The chalet is located in the small ski village of Moleson, which has pistes of all standards. www.moleson.ch
Nearby are other small village resorts, such as Charmey, La Berra and Les Paccots. The advantage of these villages for skiing are that they are cheaper and far less crowded than the well-known resorts.
Within an hours drive (and some a lot nearer) are the internationally-known ski resorts of Verbier, Villars, Les Diablerets, Leysin, Gstaad, Chateau d'Oex, Murren & Wengen, as well as many other, smaller resorts.
Summer: La Taupiniere and Moleson are ideally located for summer activities - be it walking, hiking, summer activities, scenic drives etc.
