About the property

Country Cottage in Treneglos, Nr. Boscastle, Cornwall - The Ideal Retreat In The Beautiful Cornish Countryside

Mid week May special rates

Tuesday 9th May to Friday 12th May (3 nights) £75 per night

Thursday 18th May to Saturday 20th May (2 nights) £75 per night

The Countryside is beautiful in Cornwall in May Hedgerows are pickled with wild flowers and the trees just coming out a beautiful green. Many fields are full of little lambs skipping around The month of May is the best time of year in my opinion

Situated in the unspoilt Parish of Treneglos is Higher Scarsick a working Dairy and Sheep farm which has been farmed by the French Family since the early 1920's. Treneglos is mid way between the towns of Launceston, Bude and Camelford and is a delightful place to spend your holiday surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside yet only a short drive to the wonderful sandy beaches on the North Cornwall Coast and very convenient for the variety of tourist attractions and leisure pursuits Cornwall has to offer. The cottage has been renovated over recent years and has retained many original features, including oak beams, stone inglenooks and a bread oven. Each year we take steps to inprove the cottage so that it is cosy and inviting for all seasons. This year we have refurbished the bathroom and one of the double bedrooms now en suite. The cottage now has 2 showers and 2 toilets as well as a bath.Step outside to a large garden where you can hear the birds singing and enjoy the stunning views and if you care to take a short walk down the lane there is a small stream which is particularly beautiful in the spring and autumn.

Please ask for your holiday requirements I do try to accommodate where possible

The cottage is located avoiding the continuing road works on the A30 between Launceston and Bodmin, we are constantly hearing of horrendous traffic delays which is not a good start or end to any holiday.

About Scarsick

I am a Farmers Daughter and then married into a farming family and I absolutely love living here at Higher Scarsick. Life is busy but the view from my office is constantly changing with the seasons and I can see Dartmoor on the Horizon.

1st April 2017. The Starlings have left for the summer and I am now eagerly awaiting the sight of the first Swallows and to hopefully soon hear the Cuckoo at the end of the month. This morning when I awoke it was lovely to hear the Dawn Chorus (little birds singing). Looking out the window the Blackthorn is starting to blossom and the daffodils are in full bloom making a hansom show. Starting the morning work in the yard a sheep has given birth to triplets soon followed by another producing a double. A few April showers but Spring has arrived in Cornwall and another good day ahead.

Why Scarsick chose North Cornwall

With the work continuing on the A30 between Launceston and Bodmin we have been told of horrendous traffic delays. People that have stayed with us recently have told us we are ideally located to explore Cornwall during their stay an are able to avoid the traffic delays on the morning of departure. We are only about 1 hour to Exeter and about 2 hours to Bristol.

What makes this cottage unique

Surrounded by the beautiful Cornish Countryside yet only a short drive to all that Cornwall offers

Very cosy, homely and clean cottage

The cottage had a lovely feel and offered a great amount of space. The location was perfect for us - we got to explore a great part of Cornwall. We really enjoyed our stay and Heather and Les made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend.

Cosy, modern interior with everything you needed. Perfect rural escape.

  • 5 of 5

Heather was there to welcome us and show us about. The farm house was beautifully decorated. The bedrooms were spacious, the bathrooms sparkly clean and newly fitted. The kitchen was modern with everything you needed. The house was warm and cosy, and we all enjoyed a very very comfortable stay, a real home from home. We hope that we will be able to revisit in the future.

A lovely, well equipped three bedroom cottage.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, well equpped three bedroom cottage attached to the farmhouse on a working farm. The owners, Heather and Les, are very friendly and helpful and willing to give tips on places to visit nearby.

We had a lovely week based here as it is ideal for getting around most of Cornwall. Our daughter and her partner came to stay for one night, along with their two dogs, and were very much welcomed by Heather and Les. Though pets are welcomed there is no sign this in the property, which was immaculately clean. There is heating if the weather becomes chilly.

The cottage is quite spacious and extremely well equipped with everything that you may need to a great holiday in this stunningly beautiful part of England. The beds are comfortable and the decor is fresh and in keeping with the property. There is a large garden to the front of the property, with table and chairs for outdoor dining in sunny weather. For the more active visitor, there are walking opportunities right outside the property.

We found that Launceston is easily accessible for any shppping needs; and that acess to the main road networks is fairly easy for those who are used to driving along narrow country roads.

We recommend this property for couples, 4 to six adults sharing, or families.

We hope to stay here again.

Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage on a working farm. Heather and Les were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The cottage itself is lovely, very comfortable and extremely clean. The kitchen is new and absolutely gorgeous. My 2 year old loved the countryside and surrounding and seeing cows so close up was amazing to her! Also it was great we could bring our 2 dogs too! Would like to visit again and would highly recommend.

With the continuing road works on the A30 between Launceston and Bodmin we are constantly hearing of horrendous traffic delays. Our cottage is located to avoid these delays on the morning of departure and to easily tour Cornwall and parts of Devon during your stay. We are about 1 hour to Exeter and 2 hours to Bristol.

The North Cornwall coast is pickled with beautiful sandy beaches and coves. The nearest being Crackington Haven which is a 15min drive. For surfing we recommend Polzeath which is a 45 min drive (Approx)

A car is essential for holidaying at Higher Scarsick. However it is 8 miles from the A30 and 3 miles from the A395 making it very accessible for all parts of the country

There is an airport at Newquay and main line Railway Station at Bodmin.
