We are Andrew and Lucy and we live here at Peyrenegre with my Mum and Dad, who are now retired and enjoying french life. We know how important your holiday is and we can be as on or off hand as you like. Peyrenegre is not just a business but it is our home and we enjoy welcoming new people in to our slice of paradise and aim to give you a fantastic holiday.
We choose Peyrenegre as we were looking for somewhere that was set in rural france,But that was in easy reach 20 minutes of supermarkets and local attractions. That had land for our two horses, dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. Peyrenegre offers that as it has a no through road and over looks endless open fields of countryside. Here at Peyrenegre you will be able to relax and re charge your batteries and know that your children are safe playing in a safe environment. One family described it this year 2013 as a slice of paradise and they are looking forward to returning to us next July.
We have a heated salt water pool to 28 degrees, that is fully enclosed and alarmed. Along with a play area complete with a sand pit, trampoline, swing ect so that the children can run around and let off steam. Opposite the gites we have an indoor play room full of toys, board games, dvds and a 4 in 1 games table, within easy reach of the gites so that you can keep an eye on them. We are happy to take children with us under supervision to help search for eggs from the chickens and feed them, so you can enjoy fresh eggs whilst you stay here. Also we have guinea pigs that enjoy a fuss, and we are also happy to take you down to see the horses for a pat under supervision. We also have a large vegetable garden so when possible we like to share our vegetable's with our guests.

Recently returned from a blissful week at Peyrenegre. The Gites are very well equipped, well maintained & very comfortable. The setting is simply stunning if you are looking to get away from it all, relax & unwind. Surrounded by beautiful countryside & well away from any neighbours & roads. The facilities offered are outstanding, especially the heated salt water pool, which is SO much nicer than a chlorine pool! The owners Lucy & Andrew take a real pride in their business & couldn't be more helpful. We have been on several Gite holidays in the past & this is the best one we have been to by a long way. We would love to come back.
This was our first visit to Lot et Garonne and we just loved it. The whole area felt quite undiscovered and was simply stunning. The gites are located in a quiet rural area, perched on top of a hill with pleasant breezes and stunning views. Lucy and Andrew are great hosts, we were welcomed with fresh eggs, home grown tomatoes and courgettes and the accommodation was clean and comfortable with the benefit of all those little extras such as toilet paper, dishwasher tablets, hand soap, oil for cooking, charcoal for the BBQ, etc. The children (aged 5 and 8) were in heaven....the fantastic salt water pool with lots of inflatables, the hot tub, the indoor games room with table football and pool table plus a huge selection of dvds. There was also table tennis, a trampoline and bikes. We enjoyed it so much we've decided to return next summer and are looking forward to it already. We left feeling there was so much more to experience. In a week we sampled two of the night markets which offered great food, in wonderful settings and were half as busy as the ones we'd experienced in the Dordogne. We also found wonderful bastide towns, a river beach plus a giant maze and a pirate park that kept the children entertained.
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday a Peyrengre gites. The gites are lovely and really well equipped with everything you need for a great holiday. They are thoughtfully stocked with all the essentials you need when you arrive at a destination to stop you panicking about going to the shops. Lovely home grown veg and eggs are waiting in the kitchen when you arrive and are in plentiful supply for the rest of the holiday. The owners, Lucy and Andrew, couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly and really try and ensure you have a great time and offer lots of good local advice and are also happy to join in on all the fun! Location is beautiful and the scenery breathtaking with plenty to do if you want to be adventurous and take a drive around although the wonderful pool at the gite is very difficult to tempt the children away from! A thoroughly gorgeous place and well recommended!
We stayed at the gites for 14 nights. The gites were clean and well equipped. the heated salt water pool was excellent and always clean. There was plenty of on site things to do for the kids including a games room, feeding the chickens or even mucking out the horses.
Andrew and Lucy were excellent hosts with fresh eggs and wine on arrival. The wash room was excellent and saves you having to pack loads of stuff.
The place is ideal for families or just couples who want to get away from the rat race.
We had a wonderful two weeks at Peyrenegre. Owners Lucy and Andrew were incredibly helpful including the delivery of fresh croissants and bread in the morning! The gite was lovely, quiet, great views, clean and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. Very safe for kids - great pool (no chlorine!), lots of outdoor fun. Some lovely villages and places to visit in the area: night market in Laparade, medieval hilltop village of Pujols, Bergerac and Villeneuve-sur-Lot are also fab. We would definitely recommend this gite and the area. Ideal place to stay with up to 3 families.
Many of the guests at Peyrenègre make the 2 hour journey to the coast particularly to see the tallest sand dune in Europe (the Dune de Pilat) in the bay of Arcachon and to taste the magnificent seafood especially the oysters. The surfing here is outstanding. There are also lots of "river beach's" One is at Castlemoron-sur-Lot and another at Lougratte a short drive away for swimming and other activities. Such as canoeing or sliding down the flume.
Peyrenègre is in the heart of the Lot-et-Garonne countryside and you will need a car. Flights from the major UK airports are available to Bergerac (50 mins) or Bordeaux ( I hour 30 mins) and car hire is available at both airports. The nearest ports are St Malo and Caen which are 7 - 8 hours journey by autoroute. For other channel ports we suggest an overnight stay to break your journey. Several guests prefer to travel by train - the TGV takes under 4 hours from Paris to Bordeaux.
Although a very rural location, Peyrenègre is only a few kms from local shops. The nearest village is 4 kms away at St Barthelémy with a small shop and a boulangerie and the nearest supermarket is 14 kms away at Miramont-de-Guyenne which also hosts our favourite market. The Lot-et-Garonne is famous for its fortified towns (Bastides) and we are situated in the middle of this historic area.
We are within 20 minutes of Marmande, Tonneins and Miramont -de-Guyenne all of which have supermarkets, banks, a range of shops and a variety of restaurants. There is a market somewhere nearby every day of the week and evening markets in July and August. The wine producing region of Duras is a half-hour drive and the vineyards of Bergerac a little further away at about 45 minutes. Bordeaux can be reached by car in about an hour and a half, or by train from Marmande. Each gite is equipped with a Guest book which gives full information on local amenities and places of interest. We are within easy access of a range of sporting activities including horse riding and canoeing and this is ideal walking or cycling country. We are always happy to recommend places to go and visit one your here, as there is lots to go and see and do in the Lot-Et-Garonne. We provide a range of garden and indoor play equipment for children of all ages.
