We are Andrew and Lucy and we live here at Peyrenegre with my Mum and Dad, who are now retired and enjoying french life. We know how important your holiday is and we can be as on or off hand as you like. Peyrenegre is not just a business but it is our home and we enjoy welcoming new people in to our slice of paradise and aim to give you a fantastic holiday.
We choose Peyrenegre as we were looking for somewhere that was set in rural france,But that was in easy reach 20 minutes of supermarkets and local attractions. That had land for our two horses, dogs, cats, chickens and ducks. Peyrenegre offers that as it has a no through road and over looks endless open fields of countryside. Here at Peyrenegre you will be able to relax and re charge your batteries and know that your children are safe playing in a safe environment. One family described it this year 2013 as a slice of paradise and they are looking forward to returning to us next July.
We have a heated salt water pool to 28 degrees, that is fully enclosed and alarmed. Along with a play area complete with a sand pit, trampoline, swing ect so that the children can run around and let off steam. Opposite the gites we have an indoor play room full of toys, board games, dvds and a 4 in 1 games table, within easy reach of the gites so that you can keep an eye on them. We are happy to take children with us under supervision to help search for eggs from the chickens and feed them, so you can enjoy fresh eggs whilst you stay here. Also we have guinea pigs that enjoy a fuss, and we are also happy to take you down to see the horses for a pat under supervision. We also have a large vegetable garden so when possible we like to share our vegetable's with our guests.

We stayed at the Peyrenegre Gites for a week with our 3 boys (aged 10, 8 and 6). We all had a really lovely time and were very impressed with the gite, the site and all the amazing facilities. The pool was wonderful and warm and the boys spent hours playing and diving into the water. The local area is really nice. We enjoyed using the bikes on the site and going for runs around the area.
The gite was really well kitted out - with everything you need for a relaxing family holiday!
We would definitely recommend the gites to others!
Thanks to Lucy and Andrew for making us fell so welcome and for letting the boys feed the chickens!
Peyrenegre was just what was needed for our family of 2 adults and 2 children after a crazy end of term. We arrived to a true haven of peace and tranquility that Lucy and Andrew have managed to create, making the most of the great views. The children loved the heated pool and the hot tub entertained them no end too! Lucy invited them to feed the animals which was another hit. The gites were well equipped and we were left with lots of complimentary home grown produce which went down well. The gites were well equipped with the essential such as foil, oil, etc which not all gites offer. A laundry room was available which was another much needed gadget on a family with kids.
Lucy gave us some great recommendations such as the water Parc and the food markets. A great area to holiday in.
We had a lovely time at this gite and will definitely be returning. The pool is just as the picture, nice and warm and lovely and relaxing. The accommodation was clean, tidy and have everything you could need for a holiday. Lucy and Andrew were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. It was great for our older children and would be perfect for younger children as well with bikes, games, toys, DVD's. It's only a shame that we couldn't book for 2 weeks. We'll definitely be returning.
We have just returned from a very peaceful two week holiday at Peyrenegre Gites. We visited with our two children (8 and 6) and our Labrador who received a very warm welcome! We stayed in Les Etables, which was clean, spacious, nicely decorated and very well equipped. The facilities were excellent, the pool (which was immaculate), hot tub, games room (well stocked with games and DVD's), chickens, horses and guinea pigs were enough to keep the children occupied on the days when we weren’t out and about exploring. There is so much to do in this area, canoeing, walking, cycling, local markets, Chateaux to visit along with night markets and wine tastings. Most supermarkets and attractions are a 20 minute drive from the gite but this didn’t worry us in the slightest. We also explored the local area and walked most days from the gite with the dog amongst plum orchards, hazelnut groves and sunflower fields, the scenery was breathtaking. Lucy and Pam were the perfect hosts and always happy to help with any questions. We had such a fab time we are going back next year!
Many of the guests at Peyrenègre make the 2 hour journey to the coast particularly to see the tallest sand dune in Europe (the Dune de Pilat) in the bay of Arcachon and to taste the magnificent seafood especially the oysters. The surfing here is outstanding. There are also lots of "river beach's" One is at Castlemoron-sur-Lot and another at Lougratte a short drive away for swimming and other activities. Such as canoeing or sliding down the flume.
Peyrenègre is in the heart of the Lot-et-Garonne countryside and you will need a car. Flights from the major UK airports are available to Bergerac (50 mins) or Bordeaux ( I hour 30 mins) and car hire is available at both airports. The nearest ports are St Malo and Caen which are 7 - 8 hours journey by autoroute. For other channel ports we suggest an overnight stay to break your journey. Several guests prefer to travel by train - the TGV takes under 4 hours from Paris to Bordeaux.
Although a very rural location, Peyrenègre is only a few kms from local shops. The nearest village is 4 kms away at St Barthelémy with a small shop and a boulangerie and the nearest supermarket is 14 kms away at Miramont-de-Guyenne which also hosts our favourite market. The Lot-et-Garonne is famous for its fortified towns (Bastides) and we are situated in the middle of this historic area.
We are within 20 minutes of Marmande, Tonneins and Miramont -de-Guyenne all of which have supermarkets, banks, a range of shops and a variety of restaurants. There is a market somewhere nearby every day of the week and evening markets in July and August. The wine producing region of Duras is a half-hour drive and the vineyards of Bergerac a little further away at about 45 minutes. Bordeaux can be reached by car in about an hour and a half, or by train from Marmande. Each gite is equipped with a Guest book which gives full information on local amenities and places of interest. We are within easy access of a range of sporting activities including horse riding and canoeing and this is ideal walking or cycling country. We are always happy to recommend places to go and visit one your here, as there is lots to go and see and do in the Lot-Et-Garonne. We provide a range of garden and indoor play equipment for children of all ages.
