The traditional log cabin is modern and well equipped. It has free WIFI, a log burner and an outdoor barbecue and large garden area. It is located at the foot Savin Kuk mountain, overlooking the Steppe like plains of the Lake Plateau it is well connected to the vast network of marked mountain trails that spread throughout the Durmitor mountain range. It is 400m from the regions ski lifts. The rustic town of Zabljak, the highest resort in the Balkans (1,456m), is surrounded by 23 peaks over 2,200m and 18 lakes. It has restaurants, bars, shops and cafes. It is a base for mountain biking around Durmitor and the Lake Plateau, canyoning at Nevidio Canyon, jeep safari round the Durmitor Ring, hiking on some of the best marked trails in the Balkan region, caving, zip wire at Black Lake, rock climbing at the mystical Pirlitor and arguably the most scenic white water rafting in Europe, in the Tara canyon (deepest in Europe). All this and you are only 2 hours away from the stunning Adriatic coastline.
An extensive guide with route maps and descriptions of walks ranging from easy afternoon strolls to serious treks are available at the log cabin. Also with a thorough up to date guide (put together by ourselves) on all the other activities and places of interest available in the area.
Local organic food and meals at very reasonable prices are available to the guests as an optional extra. This is cooked by Vanja, our neighbour and served at her house.
Hello I'm Glyn and I live in Shropshire in England. A semi retired farmer and seasoned traveller I now spend most of my free time in Montenegro. I have great passion and knowledge of both areas which I am keen to share with my guests and have done since 2004..
Glyn Passant purchased this cabin in 2005
I fell in love with Zabljak and the Durmitor National Park when I first visited in 2004 so when I had the chance to buy this log cabin I didn't need much persuading. Being a keen amateur skier and walker it ticked all the boxes for me. The beauty of the area with its canyons, mountains and lakes are breathtaking. I have made some good friends there and am gradually learning the language.
The log cabin is ideally located for the ski lifts and easy access to hiking and mountain biking trails.
Really enjoyed our stay. Great walking and biking opportunities. Views from Black Lake are stunning.
We had a very good time and some beautiful walks, greatly aided by your excellent notes......It was a pleasure to meet the neighbour and her family and we are very grateful for their help and advice - it was good to know that they were 'just across the way' if we needed them.
Thank you Glyn, we had a great time during our stay at the log cabin. What a peaceful and scenic location at the foot of Savin Kuk Mountain.
The maps and information on suggested walks and other activities were really helpful. The woodland walk from the log cabin down to the beautiful Black Lake was one of the highlights. Please thank Vanja for the wonderful breakfasts and meals, she cooked for us - local, organic produce and recipes - simply wonderful.
