Beautifully restored and fully modernised village house. Quiet and peaceful with a large garden and views to the mountains and wooded hills. You can enjoy the traditional life of the village, where horse-drawn carts are more commonly seen than cars and geese, chickens, goats and ducks wander along the tracks between the houses. The meadows of wild flowers are wonderful to see and hay is cut by hand and stacked into beehive-shaped heaps. Early in the morning you can watch the cows being taken to pasture and in the evening their return. In summer you may pick bowlfuls of wild strawberries, blueberries and, in the autumn, mushrooms. In the evening come back to a cosy wood-burning stove or, in summer sit on the cool terrace, look at the stars and barbecue your supper. A stream runs down the hill just outside the property and joins the river.
I started the charity, Friends of Children in Romania and this house was bought and renovated to add an income stream to the charity. Your booking will help support our vital work for children here.
This is an opportunity to see a way of life that has long disappeared from most of western Europe. Traditional farming is still very much alive in this part of Romania and you can enjoy it in the glorious landscape around the house and village.
We were given a warm welcome to Pensione Trifolia and the house was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location on the edge of the village ensured a peaceful few days, with cowbells, birdsong and a rippling stream the only sounds to be heard. Numerous opportunities for walking in the area and fabulous views.
Bacau airport 1 hour and 11 mins. Car hire essential.
Harja village within five minutes walking distance. Brasov 100km - interesting ancient town with cobbled streets. Horse riding available 80km.
Harja village shop supplies the essentials. Onesti 30km - has extremely good market with particularly good local fruit and vegetables also banks and supermarkets. There is an excellent restaurant 12km towards Brasov where the food is both Hungarian and Romanian - good atmosphere.
