This beautifully converted barn is one of three holiday homes with great views over the sunflower fields. There is a large pool with sun loungers etc. The local village of Chevanceaux is only a 10 minute walk away and has many of the required amenities to provide a great holiday. There is a variety of local shops plus a bar and recommended restaurant "Le grain du sel". There is also an open air swimming pool and local fishing. In the summer there are bustling evening markets. The local towns of Mondendre and Montguyon are accessible by car and both have restaurants, bars, large supermarkets and evening markets. Local activities include cycling, fishing, swimming, sightseeing, shopping, wine tasting, a safari park, canoeing and a local beach.
We have had a lovely stone houses and barns in france from 2006 when we came on our summer vaction to this region and fell in love. They have been loving restored from old ruins with many orginal features retained. The whole family has enjoyed being part of this project and now spends as much time as possible at La Ville.
oliver douglas purchased this barn in 2006
We were amazing lucky to find these properties and to work with local and english craftsmen to restore such beautiful stone buildings which date back to the 17th Century. The area is one of outstanding beauty in the second warmest region in france. La Ville is walking distance into a large Village which has everything you may need to make your vaction wonderful but is in the country side overlooking stunning sunflower fields best of both worlds. The area is easily accessible from England and the spanish border is only 2 hours away.
The houses are in a peaceful rural area but there are two large towns only a ten minute drive away and the prestigious wine region of Bordeaux and Congac are only 40 minutes away. The fantastic swimming complex at Jonzac is only 20 minutes away and we have catered hopefully in the houses with everything you need from great cooking facilities, english TV, extensive books games and DVDs to the outside where there are bikes, swimming, boules and many more games and my favourite aspect of the La Ville is having a glass of red wine whilst watching the amazing sun sets over the sunflower fields.
There are 3 lovely beaches on local lakes which are only 10 minutes away. Beau Vallon which is on the outskirts of Montguyon has a great grill and bar and all the activities you could ask for. The beach at guizengard also has quad bikes and jet skis.
