Beautifully Restored Eighteenth Century Provencal Village Farmhouse

The Mas du Marechal is situated right in the old centre of the village and has been fully and sympathetically restored, the emphasis having been on keeping the original features of the house intact while also providing you with every comfort and luxury possible. The thick stone walls, shutters, ceiling insulation, ceiling fans and a reverse air-conditioning system in one wing of the house help to keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter. As such, the house can be rented throughout the year. There is a downstairs bedroom suite and two upstairs wings each comprising of two bedrooms and two bathrooms with additional sitting or study area and each wing is reached by a dedicated staircase. This thoughtful layout of the house ensures privacy and even when full the house never feels crowded. The house has been beautifully decorated, is fully and generously equipped and has 5 double bedrooms with crisp percale bedding. Each bedroom is paired with a fresh new bathroom. The house sleeps 10 people comfortably. Small children or babies can additionally be accommodated, totaling a maximum of 14 guests.
The wonderful open plan kitchen is fully equipped with everything you may need to please a gourmet cook. The central island is a cook’s dream and the extra seating around the island and in the kitchen area allows for group cooking sessions and is definitely the gathering spot while the fresh Provencal produce is turned into gourmet meals.
A double volume large airy living area with original exposed beams opens onto the garden and shaded terrace, which overlooks the sparkling pool. This house is ideal for large family groups or a group of friends, and guests will enjoy lounging by the pool or enjoying meals on the shaded terrace.
The Mas du Marechal is situated in the village of Vers Pont du Gard which is in the heart of the Cotes du Rhone wine region. It is also a stone’s throw away from the legionary Pont du Gard, the almost 2000 year old Roman Aqueduct. This is a World Heritage site and is the 3rd most visited site in France after Paris and Mont St. Michel in Brittany. It is within easy access of the A9 autoroute, making Nimes, Arles, Lyon, Marseille, Nice and the Camargue Coast easy to reach. Uzes, Avignon, St Remy de Provence, Les Baux, Gordes and Chateauneuf du Pape wine region are just short drives away.
This is a lively and authentic working village where you will see the winemakers and fresh produce growers going about their business. The fantastic bakery and Tabac/Presse/Epicerie (newsagent and mini supermarket) will provide you with all you need on a daily basis. The lively gathering spot of La Grange wine bar is also great for coffee, cakes, brunches and light suppers, and offers musical evenings on Thursdays and Saturdays There is a bar restaurant that serves simple regional food daily, La Petite Gare restaurant is housed in the old station house with a menu that changes weekly. The village pre-primary and primary school means that the usual amenities of Pharmacy, Doctors Rooms, Dentist, Physiotherapist, hairdresser, small shops, beauty salons and a post office are right there. There is a visiting pizza van every Sunday evening and a Seafood van every Sunday morning. There are also a number of good restaurants in the other villages close by.
Catering and cooking lessons, wine tastings, and musical evenings at the house can be arranged. A fresh produce farmers market takes place on the square three times a week including a fish supplier, charcuterie, cheese, wines, locally made nougat and honey. You can also buy wine directly from the kitchen door of the local vineyards. Food and wine are the main attractions of the area and sublime food markets abound, notably in Uzes, which is known as the First Duchy of France. The Saturday morning market in Uzes, only minutes away, should not be missed.
Bicycles can be rented nearby (including electric bikes) and the surrounding vineyards provide enjoyable and easy rides through flat terrain. Special guided cycling tours can also be booked. There is a new cyclists- only track joining the village to nearby villages and up to Uzes through beautiful countryside which offers safe cycling for all ages. Kayaking is another possible pastime to be enjoyed - the Gardon river meanders right underneath the Pont du Gard aqueduct. Cooling down on hot summer days by swimming in the river from a small private beach is very popular too.
Wonderful hiking routes are all around. Ancient villages dot the gentle rolling hills and are perfect for exploring. the beautiful countryside and immersing yourself in the culturally rich history of this area.

Best. Ever. French. Experience
Mas Du Maréchal in Vers Pont du Gard was the perfect choice for friends and family to gather for a special French experience. The house is warm, welcoming and beautifully furnished and 6 couples were able to enjoy their own space and bathroom. Chef’s kitchen which overlooked the pool area was quintessentially Provence. The village the perfect size to immerse oneself into village life - boulangerie, grocers, markets and two restaurants/cafes. Vivienne (owner) was incredibly prompt and concise with communication and even arranged for some Pétanque sets to be delivered so we could play down at the village square. Thank you for such a memorable experience.

Perfect
This house has been beautifully restored with a bathroom for each bedroom, large living spaces and an amazing kitchen equipped with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed spending time here as well as seeing the many sites that were all quite close. It is lovely in the morning to pick up a pastry at the boulangerie and have it with a coffee at La Grange on the square. This cafe has quite a vibe and is lovely at any time of the day. We have rented many holiday homes in Europe and this one is the best we have stayed in. Thankyou Vivienne for everything you supplied (even shopping bags) and the comprehensive guide book.

Warm and Inviting Home
We could not have enjoyed our stay more. The home is beautifully decorated, comfortable, everyone had a private ensuite and a luxurious bedroom. Everything was well thought through in the kitchen, dining room and entertainment space. Thank you for an exceptional week in your very special home.

Great mas in good location
Excellent house for a larger family or big group. We were two families and a couple and it worked like a glove. Layout of bedrooms and batheooms is genius. Pool was nice, the kitchen great and outdoor seating area was covered from the sun and very pleasant. We had some minor issues with smaller things missing from the house but it was quickly handled by the manager Rachel. One should however think carefully about summer bookings of the house as it doesn’t have any air conditioning and with the heatwave in France this summer we struggled to get temperatures in the bedrooms below 28-29 degrees celsius. Sleeping worked fine however as there are plenty of fans in the rooms but one should be aware of it. We had a great time and would consider renting this place again.

Magnifique!
Vivienne's property was a splendid place for a family reunion. It was equipped with everything that we needed for our oldest son to don his chef's cap and serve delicious meals under the reed canopy by the pool. The pool was great in the high (100 degree) heat. Vers is located within about 30 minutes of Avignon and Nimes and about 50 to Arles. Vivienne was excellent to work with and always communicated quickly. I would not hesitate to stay here again and can recommend it highly to anyone interested.

We live in South Africa, but have always loved France and wanted a piece of it. We came to the area by chance, loved it and knew we wanted to be in the area. After looking at more than 200 houses, throughout France, we knew this house had potential. The house was restored and furnished, and is a home from home for the family and for our guests.

Why they chose this property

This property is on the border of Provence, a wine growing valley, situated near Uzes which is the last Duchy of France. We fell in love with Uzes and wanted something nearby. The house is only a stone's throw away from the Pont du Gard which is a World Heritage Site. We love the area as there is so much to see and do.

What makes this property unique

The very well appointed house has a gourmet kitchen and lives easily and can accommodate large family groups and friends.
A chef who will cook at the house can be arranged. She will also cook for celebratory special occasions .
