The large kitchen with its oak table is the heart of the house. The tranquil salon is ideal for relaxing an the garden tower provides alfresco dining. Totally private and wholly for your use. About Andrew Okell

We are English, we moved to France in 2003 & we run the properties for a living. I have a keen interest in history & wine which we decided to combine into wine & historic walking tours. My partner is a foodie who loves to cook, hence the catering. Chateau Lameraux was our original country home & remains furnished with the country antiques we bought for ourselves. We hope to offer a stress free holiday with almost anything you could want including baby sitting, cleaning & transport. As a result we now have many guests who return again & again. The French language was been a challenge until we decided to relax & admit that we would always sound like the policeman from “Allo Allo”.

Andrew Okell purchased this castle in 1999

Absolutely fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! We feel blessed to have had a week at Chateau Lameraux. Set in the most picturesque, wine region. The Chateau was not only clean and well maintained, it had character and you could feel the love that goes into looking after such a fine property. The range of local restaurants serving amazing food was tough on the waist lines.. I have to say that one of our favorite meals was the complimentary one on arrival! Andy and Richard are the best hosts, they looked after us and the kids so well, we will be back next year! I would also recommend the wine tasting day with Andy, a wealth of knowledge and we picked up a few tips on the way.

Beautiful house in a stunning, peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

Chateau Lameraux is a beautiful house nestled amongst peaceful vineyards.

A very warm welcome, lots of local knowledge, and a delicious meal (and other treats during our stay).

There are a lots of places to visit and the house is very well positioned for exploring, with St Emilion a particulr gem and only 10 minutes drive away. Lots of restaurants within easy reach as well (a car is pretty essential).

Great pool area surrounded by well stocked flower beds make this a great place to relax ( also secure behind a fence - we had a toddler with us so important). The bbq/outside kitchen and wonderful pergola were very welcome in the hot weather.

The house was as expected (clean, comfortable), with a very well equipped kitchen that made cooking easy. There's lots of seating and space downstairs for relaxing.

We spent a lovely fortnight at Lameraux (family of five with grandparents making a four night appearance) and would certainly return.

Relax, recover, repeat

  • 4 of 5

We have just returned from a very relaxing fortnight at Chateaux Lameraux. The Chateaux is set amongst vineyards and is beautifully peaceful. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was supplied; a well equipped kitchen, large comfortable bedrooms and a cosy lounge. Excellent wifi reception across the house kept our 2 teenagers happy and in touch with their world, leaving us time to relax round the pool with a good book or 3!

The Chateaux is remote and the local villages were very small and quiet so we did need to drive out a little further to St Emillion for an evening meal (approx 10 minute drive). The towns of Bordeaux and Bergerac are easy to reach and the roads were simple to navigate and also very quiet!

Andy (the owner) is just next door and is very helpful and informative and hosts a great wine tour and Richard kept us happy with his foodie treats.

All in all we have had probably had our most relaxing holiday ever, maybe a little too relaxing!

Fantastic stay near St Emilion

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic location; convenient to reach from Bordeaux or Bergerac airports; within easy reach of Saint Emilion and other beautiful villages in the area by bike or car; stunning and fully equipped house; lots of space and with different spots for relaxing and socialising; friendly and attentive hosts staying nearby (with some wonderful home cooking); large, clean and safe pool in a secluded garden. Just terrific.

This really is a great place to explore the local area. The house is lovely but what makes it special is the special treatment you get from the owners including great local knowledge, a meal on arrival and baked treats during the week.

Chateau Lameraux

  • 5 of 5

An ideal property for a/our annual family holiday. Grandparents(us),daughter, son in law and three grandchildren age spread 10,13 and17. The pool area is wonderfully maintained, six sun beds, umbrellas for shade from the frequently hot, sunny days. The large garden also allows for some private time when needed. Pergola for lunches, and dinner which has benefitted from a recently installed stainless steel kitchen area, with its own cutlery, plates, glasses, refrigerated and gas large gas BBQ. The house, large beautifully appointed lounge ,with lots of books to choose from, TV , sound system. The diner kitchen fully equipped with dining table to seat 8. Accommodation perfect with 4 bedrooms. In the midst of the vineyards and within 1.5 km walk to shops ,chemist, bar etc. St Emilion within 10 minutes and some wonderful day trips within 1 hour drive. Blaye being a recently discovered favourite of ours and a wonderful new restaurant , "Terrasse Rouge" at Libourne. "Chez Germaine" in St Emilion is a favourite of ours for lunch.Owners cannot be more welcoming , the property is very well maintained and culinary delight and surprises can be waiting on occasions. Have and will continue to recommend the Chateau and its owners to our friends.
