Micks little slice of heaven
Within 30 minutes of booking I was contacted by Suzy. It was a last minute booking as we decided to go away for our son’s 12th birthday. Directions were spot on. You can see the house as you drive along the track!Advised hosts of our ETA and we were met at the property by Suzy & Séan. Both lovely and welcoming. There was a lovely message wishing our son a happy birthday from the clever kitties 😊Suzy & Séan Gave us all the information we would need. And a brief rundown on how the house was refurbished. The pictures tell the tale beautifully. We were instantly blown away by the beautiful setting and the 2 ponies came over to greet us swiftly followed by Tilly the cat, our youngest took a real shine to her and she slept in his room with him. The house has everything you could need and more. From the beautiful bedding to hair straighteners!! The underfloor heating was amazing and there were some logs/kindle for us to have fires both evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped. We had forgotten milk so hubby found a Aldi about 10 minutes down the road. We didn’t see a soul which was bliss. I can imagine it being even more stunning in the warmer months.Stunning views both front & back. Our boys loved exploring and came across the makings of a bar, possibly a new project? We loved it so much we are looking at dates to visit again for longer.I’d highly recommend this little slice of blue heaven. See you soon. Louise Andy Jude & Rohan💙

Real pleasure real Ireland
A taste of real Ireland in Mayo. Peaceful location, characterful accommodation with really comfortable beds, rooms and living room. We both slept so well. It was fully stocked with everything, plus more, you could think of including games, cable tv, extensive kitchen equipment, high quality bedding and a delightful bath. The hosts were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and informative. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning very soon. Thank you Mayo. Thank you to our two & four legged friends.

Best Cottage in Ireland!
Séan and Suzi have done a fantastic job at converting a piece of history into a present-day retreat home. They communicated with us before during and after our stay and made sure we had everything we needed. Excellent location and amenities and a genuine Irish holiday location! Thank you, Suzi and Séan!!!

We moved back to Mayo in 2000 after 10 years of renovating Seán's family home - it took so long because of time and budget constraints. and we were joined in December by our daughter, Muirgheal. The family has now grown to include a donkey, 2 alpacas, 4 dogs, 2 miniature shetland ponies, 4 cats, 3 terrapins and 2 fish. The renovations bug took hold again in 2003 and we bought the dilapidated cottage which is now Tigh Mhic. We love the peace and quiet and empty spaces of Mayo and though others would too so planned the work with the idea of providing a home from home holiday cottage. What we didn't realise was how much we would enjoy sharing our love of east Mayo. Tigh Mhic is less than 3 miles from home which makes it easy to be on hand to help our visitors and maintain the cottage to the highest standards.

Why they chose this property

Mick's Place is a fully restored cottage. It is in such a peaceful setting we have taken ourselves off there for our own holidays! If you are out at the front and a vehicle goes past you look up and is not a common sight. You are definitely out in the country with the possibility of spotting hares, hawks, herons, foxes and swallows but only under 10 minutes from the small hub of Claremorris which offers shops, supermarkets, pubs, leisure facilities (including golf club and swimming pool), coffee shops and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

Our joys are gentle walks, occasional cycle rides, sitting with a good book and a glass of wine and spotting nature. These interests are definitely well served at Mick's Place. We also love the fact that Tig Mhic is well placed for day trips to Westport, Achill, Galway, Sligo, Carrick on Shannon and Roscommon..to name but a few of the beautiful places to visit in the west of Ireland
