About Alix Furness
We love our holiday property and try to make it a home from home. We cannot use the property as much as we would like, so we rent it out so that others can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as contributing to the local economy.
Alix Furness purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Alix Furness chose Beddgelert
We bought the cottage in 2002 when it was rather run down.We renovated the cottage installing new bathrooms, kitchen, central heating, etc. We used to have a caravan on the Llyn Peninsula and decided that we would prefer a cottage. Beddgelert is the most beautiful village in Wales in my opinion. The surrounding scenery is magnificent and always uplifts my spirit. The local restaurants are very good. The cottage has two foot thick walls and a slate roof.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our cottage is peaceful with all mod cons. Sky TV package, Netflix and high speed fibre broadband internet access facilitate entertainment if the weather is bad. The central heating and electricity are included in the rental price. Some properties have electricity meters that you have to top up paying extra and you worry that the electricity may run out, which is not very relaxing! There are several good restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance. There are many excellent walks straight out from the cottage and many more a short car ride away. The local Sherpa bus round Snowdon has a bus stop outside the cottage.

The best - Beddgelert is an excellent town, Is-y-Graig is a wonderful house
Wonderfully maintained home in the middle of northwestern Wales. 30 minutes from Caernarfon, 20 minutes from Criccieth Castle, and an hour to either Harlech or Beaumaris. Across the street from a (free) 6 mile walk down the Aberglaslyn, up to Cwm Bychan and down past Llyn Dinas and the copper mine and downhill to the house. It took about 5 hours and was the best thing we did all week. An hour over to the National Slate Museum (free) at Llanberis was a close runner up to the hike. Then coming home to the kitchen table to decide what to do the next day. Unbelievable. Big enough for seven, but worked out great for just the two of us.
lovely cozy property with great walks and lots to do
We loved our stay - enough room for the family and very cozy. One thing though, the end bedroom doorways are very short and the finish at the top is raw wood and very jagged. My husband tried not to hit his head but managed to on two occasions and the second time tore a nasty hole in his head - just a suggestion, for the tops of these doors to be rounded for the taller menfolk.
Otherwise, we had a great time and would visit again. Thank you
I'm glad that you had a good time and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. I'm very sorry that your husband hurt his head. I was unaware that the edges feel jagged and I will see if they can be rounded off.
Charming cottage in a pretty village
Our family of five, including three primary-aged children, enjoyed a lovely week in this cottage. Well-equipped and homely, even in less than clement weather, and very quiet, yet within easy walking distance of everything in the village. It is clearly a loved and cared-for home, thank you.
Thank you for your review. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
We had a lovely week . At the heart of Snowdonia, we could walk straight to the mountains without the need to take the car which is a plus with children! The house was clean and with everything that you need in the kitchen. The cottage has a lot of character and a nice atmosphere. The owner is also very nice and helpful when needed which is brilliant. We would recommend this house and are hoping to come back again! Our best holidays so far!!!!
Thank you for your kind review. I’m glad that you had a great time and we look forward to welcoming you back.
The location of this great cottage was one of the main attractions, right in the centre of the village. On street parking was never a problem. Inside there was plenty of space for the four of us, a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and spotless throughout.
Thank you for your kind review. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
Brilliant, perfect location , everything we wanted.
We had a long weekend stay for two night nights, was overwhelmed by how wonderful the village is and right ground the corner from the Watkins trail to snowdon. We walked up snowdon and was brilliant. Was lucky with the weather and came down another way, was a booked guide with large outdoors which was excellent.
The cottage was warm cosy and just right for our party of six. Would definitely stay again and want too. Rich and dee
There are many beautiful beaches in easy driving distance, the nearest is Blackrock Sands 7 miles away. There are good coastal path walks.
Manchester and Liverpool are the nearest airports. A car is recommended. The Sherpa bus stop is a few yards from the cottage. A steam train now runs from Caernarfon to Beddgelert which links with the national rail network.
We are in the village of Beddgelert. Portmadog is 7 miles away. Caernarfon is 13 miles away.
There are a variety of good restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance. Lack of light pollution means that the stars are utterly spectacular. Previous guests have been thrilled that their children have seen the stars properly for the first time.
