"Wonderful place to stay to visit amsterdam and lovely owners!"
Stayed here for a few days to explore amsterdam after a business trip. Great location. Very central to everything - can walk to city center in a few minutes. Train and train stop is very close. There is a nice park nearby. Shopping and museums were very close too.
And the best of all - staying in a houseboat is a really nice experience.
Didn't do a lot of cooking as I wanted to try out all the great amsterdam restaurants. But the house boat has a fully equipped kitchen - great for all the breakfast items that Coleta had set up.
Can't wait to visit in spring/summer in amsterdam and stay in Janna - to get a different feel of the city!
Coleta was very friendly and welcoming. Gave a lot of information about the city and maps etc. Lots of tips on shopping and food!
My husband and I stayed on Houseboat Janna for five nights with our 21 month old son. The houseboat is so cozy and comfortable, so we were extremely relaxed while we stayed there. The kitchen was great for cooking, so we didn't feel the need to always go out for meals.
The location is really convenient, close to the metro and an easy walk to downtown. We were able to get around easily with our young son. My son and I were able to walk to the science museum downtown and take the metro without much effort.
Our hostess was very welcoming and made herself available to help us with any request.
I would recommend this spot to anyone, and if I ever return to Amsterdam I plan to stay there again.
Myself and a friend stayed on the Avontuur and it was a fantastic experience in every regard. The boat itself was incredibly clean and comfortable and surprisingly very spacious. The houseboat warmed up very quickly for some chilly nights and the beds were extremely comfortable. For people wanting to explore Amsterdam it's in a perfect location. It's within a 20 minute walk of everything you could need but also very close to the Metro station as well as the Tram system. There's awesome places to eat and drink all over. Coleta was an awesome host meeting us at check in and was the best help we got in regards to suggestions on what to do and see. Absolutely recommend this experience!
My family of four were very pleased with the Janna houseboat. It was very well located for visiting my family (two nieces and one nephew) and very near to the center of Amsterdam.
Our host, Coleta, was very welcoming, helpful and easy to communicate with.
The houseboat was comfortable and spacious. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom clean and the boat was warm. We were even able to invite my family onto the boat for drinks and food. There were 12 of us and it was 'gezellig' as the Dutch say.
The location on the Amstel river in the Diamond District was excellent for experiencing Amsterdam at a local level. It was easy to go shopping and eat out nearby. The van Woustraat is nearby and has many shops, cafes and good take out food.
The boat was easy to get to by tram from the train station and trams provided good connections to all the main sights of Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend renting bikes for the best experience of Amsterdam.
I would recommend the houseboat Janna to friends and family.

We were very curious and somewhat worried how it would be to sleep on a boat in the early spring time. What a nice surprise! The boat was very comfortable for four of us and was located not far from the city center (however, trams are better option than walking). It was clean, well equipped and warm. I especially value the communication with the owner before and during the stay. Coleta answered very quickly and gave all details I needed. That was really very pleasant stay and if I’m again in Amsterdam I’ll certainly choose the same boat.
Wake up in the morning to see the city wake up on the Amstel river. The houseboat is very clean, bright and well equipped. It is a 7min walk to tram, a 20 minute walk to Rijks museum, 30 min walk to Anne Frank museum at center of town. Though street noise is heard inside the houseboat, it is low and not loud. The interior is roomier than expected. A 6ft tall person can stand without hitting ceiling. The four of us slept very comfortably in the two double beds. The area is safe to walk anytime of day, just stay off the well marked bike path. The hosts are attentive and of obviously proud of Amsterdam. They are professional and live nearby for any needs or concerns. The hosts are responsive to email so made pre-booking and arrival easy. We had a late night flight arrival and they met us without any problem or extra fee. The houseboat is larger than other rentals in the city. The kitchen is well equipped with numerous dishes, large stove, a refrigerator and microwave. There are heaters if needed during cold months. The pictures show it as described. Across the street is a coffee shop and a block away is CTaste, a unique dark dining restaurant. Great experience, well priced vs hotel and easy to walk to city centre.
Houseboat Janna is located on one of the best spots on the river Amstel in the Quartier Latin of Amsterdam, called De Pijp and is just a 10 minutes walk to most tourist attractions like the Rijksmuseum, the Heineken Experience, the Hermitage, RAI congress centre, the old centre of Amsterdam, one of the nicest shopping area’s of Amsterdam called “Utrechtsestraat” and lots of good restaurants.
Janna has just been renovated end of 2010 (bathroom end of 2011), contains a tastefully decorated and comfortable apartment of almost 60 square meter with a private entrance. In this lovely ambiance you will be warmly welcomed by your hostess, Coleta. She knows Amsterdam by heart and can help you find your way around town.
