Villa on Alonnisos, Northern Sporades - Peaceful Location A Few Minutes Walk From The Old Village With A Stunning View Of The Year Sunset
Gary and I (Julie) are the owners of family bought Villa Thea and we have owned this for a number of years having built the property on a chosen part of land that overlook the bay.
Julie purchased this Villa in 1990
Why Julie chose Alonnisos
Alonnisos is a peaceful island of outstanding natural beauty. The island was visited by our family many years ago by coincidence when the nearby Island of Skopelos was visited and a day trip to Alonnisos happened. There was an immediate attraction towards Alonnisos due to its still very traditional feel.
What makes this Villa unique
Villa Thea is just a few minutes stroll from the Chora or "Old Village" of Alonnisos. There are a number of traditional tavernas as well as a mini supermarket and other small shops which are easily accessible. The Villa itself holds magnificent breath taking views of both the Old Village and the surrounding areas. Thea, Greek for "view" disappoints no one that steps inside.

A couple of grumbles
It was lovely, -but although the property was as described ,decently equipped, fresh towels and linen - we were dismayed that there was no provision for any shade on the terrace-which is the most wonderful place to sit/eat/drink/read-no parasol, canvas or any other kind of sun shade. Some of the sun loungers appeared to be broken. The house was very clean and tidy, very pleasant to be in-but on arriving there were unwashed cups and glasses in the cupboard which was a bit off putting. We had been sailing for a week so arrived with some need of laundry- but the washing machine was broken, looked as if it has
been for some time. The main drain in the bathroom smelt really bad throughout our stay and unfortunately no amount of "topping up the trap with water", advice we were offered dealt with the problem. All fairly small issues, but contributed to making this very nice house feel a bit neglected.
thank you for your feedback - sorry this wasn't highlighted to me during your stay as I would have been able to action so areas. Having spoken to Gillian and sought feedback, I have been made aware of a couple of areas that can be easily addressed. The issue with the washer remains - this is not accessible to guests and is not advertised as having one that can be used - this is due to water being an expensive commodity and pervious guests abusing this situation. The room that has the washer I accessible to guesst so they can access additional towels. Many Thanks
Return visit to villa Thea, having stayed here last year (see previous review). Excellent base for couples/smaller families.
Perfect villa location
We have stayed in villa thea for a number of years now and always thoroughly enjoy our stay!
Perfect location on a hilltop with stunning views and yet only 5 minutes walk to the old town. Here you will find tavernas, craft shops etc and usually music of an evening.
Sitting on the balcony of an evening watching the heavens above whilst on the look out for shooting stars is magical.
We have stayed at Villa Thea a couple of times over the past few years and as regular visitors to the Old Village in Alonissos, I can say that the house has just about the best views in the area. Looking over wooded hills down to the sea with no other houses in between, it is a truly beautiful nd relaxing place to stay. Having said that, the village is only a few minutes walk away so you are not actually isolated. The upside down (bedrooms below) house is modern, comfortable and very well-equipped. A balcony on each level goes across the whole of the back of the house. We found it the perfect holiday home.
Had a week at villa Thea and thoroughly enjoyed it. The villa sits on a minor road, a few hundred yards out of the village, so privacy is good. It is only a five minute walk to the village, so it's handy as well. Villa is spacious and well equipped (unless you want tv - and who would?), and it is well presented. The short (steep) driveway made for interesting access/egress by car....Good comms from owner Julie, who arranged for someone to collect us from the port. There was a welcome pack consisting bread, milk, butter and bottled water, which was much appreciated, given our 9pm time of arrival.
The nearest beach is Mikro Mourtias which is directly below the villa and a 20 minute walk away down hill. There are many other beaches of varying sizes around the island, from small hidden coves to larger more popular ones with tavernas present for food and drink.
There are tavernas and shops in the Old Town, with many additional shops (grocers, butchers, chemist, bank etc) to be found at the main port in Patitirri. There is a vast selection of tavernas suiting all different palates and many day trips that can be arranged.
