About Vincent and Maria Lynott

We have lived in the Dordogne for 9 years, but have nearly 30 years knowledge of the area. We're happy to answer any questions you may have and can advise on all the best spots to visit;

Vincent and Maria Lynott purchased this barn in 2006

Why Vincent and Maria Lynott chose Perigord Noir

Before we bought this property it had belonged to friends of ours - so we knew the house for about 20 years before we moved in. We fell in love with it when we first saw it, just as we did with the Dordogne area.

What makes this barn unique

Outstanding uninterrupted views. Tranquil location yet is only a short drive to some of the most beautiful villages and sites in the Dordogne.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Les Bruguettes is without doubt the best gite, villa or apartment we have ever stayed in. A magical place. A superb holiday." - Janet and Nigel, Milton Keynes

"You have created a paradise. There is not enough room to express our praise and satisfaction of Les Bruguettes. You have made the barn a haven of peace and comfort and provided everything to make us feel welcome and this holiday will always be a very special memory." - Reg and Francis, Devon

"This place is magical and you have created a holiday experience second to none." - William and Lesley, Scotland

"The best bits of a boutique hotel with the convenience of self-catering. A wonderful stay." - Matt & Rachel, Newcastle

"We never 'go back' but we came back here! It's so nice to stay somewhere beautiful like this, where the only nightlife is an owl." - Debbie and Nigel, Leeds

Beautiful gite in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We can highly recommend a stay at the Owl Barn. The views from the balcony were beautiful, the wood burner and central heating kept us warm, the kitchen was well equipped for self-catering and the beds very comfortable! In addition, there is lots of useful information provided - guidebooks, maps, walk guides, leaflets on local attractions, handy tips about restaurants, supermarkets etc. The owners live next door and were very welcoming and helpful - even to the extent of stocking us up with non-dairy milk & spread (in addition to the standard welcome pack of eggs, bacon, honey etc)! Everything very clean and in good condition. Sadly, it was too late in the year for us to use the pool, but it looks very well set up with separate lounging areas for the two gites, and a shady covered sun-terrace further down the garden.

It proved to be a very good location for exploring some of the beautiful cliff-top villages along the Dordogne, which were very peaceful at this time of year.

Many thanks to Vincent and Maria for the warm welcome!

Well appointed and spacious gite with lovely sun terrace and pool

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at the Owl Barn and received a wonderfully warm welcome from Maria and Vincent. The gite had everything we wanted for our stay. It is very well appointed with everything that you need to hand. The sun terrace is a great place to start and end the day. Breakfast looking out over the garden and the magnificent view is a great way to start the day.

The pool is ideal for a leisurely swim and if you feel energetic there is badminton, plus boule and table tennis under the trees if it is too hot.

The gite is located close to all the main site along the Dordogne river and access is very simple, whilst Sarlat is 20 minutes by car. We went canoeing which I can heartily recommend. Nice leisurely pace.

We wanted a restful holiday after a busy year and this was just ideal. We should have stayed for two week, as this would have enabled to really see everything we wanted to and chill. We hope to return again to the Owl Barn in the not too distance future.

Thanks again to Maria and Vincent for making our stay both memorable and very relaxing.

Hidden gem

  • 5 of 5

I cannot recommend this gite highly enough. The tranquil location is simply stunning - tucked away in the middle of the most beautiful woodlands it is a real haven. The gite has everything you could want and a lot more that you didn't realise you needed! It is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area or just relaxing on the balcony or by the lavender and jasmine scented pool. We so much wildlife including a number of firsts: red squirrel, hoopoo, otter, wild boar, bats......

But what really makes the place is the warm welcome and unobtrusive advice and support of the hosts Vincent and Maria. They really make you feel welcome and want you to have the best holiday that you can. We were extremely grateful for their recommendations for restaurants and trips etc and their willingness to book things for us too.

Many thanks indeed - I intend to come back soon.

Pure Heaven

Wow ! What a place . Best ever holiday in France and been many times but first to the Dordogne. Vincent and Maria are fantastic and bend over backwards to make your stay a pleasant one . They have thought of absolutely everything you could possibly need . They even gave us sun tan lotion when we ran out !! The views are just stunning and couldn't believe how tranquil this place is . The pool area is also beautiful and struggled to drag ourselves away to do some exploring . I would recommend this place to anyone and so much so , booked already for next year . In a nutshell..... Beautiful Gite, beautiful area and fantastic hosts ! we were lucky enough to have lovely neighbours too. Can't wait for next year .

Stephen and Rachel Symms (Dorset .)

Ps just arrived in the Loire for the second week of our holiday and not a patch on Owl Barn !!
