About Vincent and Maria Lynott

We have lived in the Dordogne for 9 years, but have nearly 30 years knowledge of the area. We're happy to answer any questions you may have and can advise on all the best spots to visit;

Vincent and Maria Lynott purchased this barn in 2006

Why Vincent and Maria Lynott chose Saint-Cybranet

Before we bought this property it had belonged to friends of ours - so we knew the house for about 20 years before we moved in. We fell in love with it when we first saw it, just as we did with the Dordogne area.

What makes this barn unique

Outstanding uninterrupted views. Tranquil location yet is only a short drive to some of the most beautiful villages and sites in the Dordogne.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

A lovely place to stay, very comfortable and well equipped. Great grounds, views and a fabulous pool. Vince and Maria are perfect hosts, we had visited before and really enjoyed returning. Lots to do and see in the area if you want to get out and about, or plenty close by if you don't want to venture too far. We recommend the canoeing.

Can't speak highly enough, a fantastic holiday.

Perfect, peaceful French retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd family holiday at Les Bruguettes, Owl Barn, and we met with the usual enthusiasm and smiles by Maria & Vincent. The kind offering of a lasagne and essential provisions ensured we could eat and more importantly drink on our first evening after arriving late. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening banter with our neighbours on the raised patio areas, and daring games of retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool! Although the weather gave us sunshine with some intermittent showers, our hosts kindly provided options on places to visit to ensure we were kept entertained. The area is spectacularly beautiful and local towns such as Sarlat are real life picture postcard images of how you would expect rural France to be. Overall a well recommended holiday destination completed with the love and dedication provided by Maria & Vincent.

Owl Barn is beautiful - stylish and much bigger than it appears on the photos.

  • 5 of 5

Maria and Vincent are extremely charming and friendly hosts. As we know France quite well we did not have to ask them too much but they made sure that we were welcomed and informed of anything that was going on. Owl Barn is the sort of place that I would like to have the talent to put together, the decor is lovely. We used the pool a lot (weather permitting), it is a short walk up the garden from the gite and has been done very cleverly to allow privacy from other guests who might be renting the adjoining two person gite. The position is amazing, only a short drive to many of the major sites of the Dordogne. We did gardens, castles and medieval towns. The area is busy in high season so get out early (we never really managed this) so that you can return to the peace and tranquillity of Owl Barn after lunch. This is also the best equipped gite we have ever stayed in, everything you needed was there and the welcome pack was exceptional. Normally we bring dishcloths, toilet roll etc. but this was all provided - an extremely generous touch. We are planning a trip further afield next year but if we ever decide to return to the Dordogne then we will be giving Maria and Vincent a call! Thank you for a lovely holiday experience.

Beautiful & Tranquil

  • 5 of 5

Our Family stay was amazing, it was our first trip to France and we all fell in love with the Owl Barn. It is located perfectly to explore the history of France with many attractions to visit close by and perfect to relax, enjoy the sun, sit by the lovely kept pool and of course swim. The hosts are very nice people and helpful with suggested visiting locations etc. So it is ideal to relax and enjoy the sun, go on trips to experience beautiful scenery and visit great Castles etc. Loved it and looking forward to our visit next year.

Utterly enchanting!

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts, Vince and Maria, were wonderful. Full of helpful advice and guidance about the local area. They recommended the Friday night fete in the village of Saint Cybranet, it didn't disappoint - live music and a variety of food vendors offering regional specialities as well as more international cuisines (e.g. Thai). A fantastic evening was enjoyed by the whole family.

Owl Barn is a complete home from home, in fact it's rather lovelier than our own home! We can't wait to rebook and visit again.
