About The Owner

I and my wife have lived and worked all over in Asia for over 30 years now. We love being in Asia although we regularly return to Sweden for holidays. My family and I have used holiday homes around Asia and know what holiday makers want based on what I expect myself for my own family and listening to holiday makers.

The Owner purchased this villa in 2004

Why The Owner chose Western Province

We actually built the house following my retirement from employment. We are 4 families who built one house each, sharing swimming pool and tennis court.

The reason we selected Wadduwa is simply because it combines the tranquility of the countryside with the commuting distance to Colombo.

What makes this villa unique

The convenience of having everything within reach and the luxury of having staff, butler, chef, maid, driver, gardeners etc.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Wow what a perfect holiday!

We loved every minute and did not want to be dragged to the airport and back to reality. A big “thank you” to Mr. Thilak, Pushpa and Rex for pampering us all week. The fresh lobsters, prawns and fish were all fantastic.

The villa is so relaxing and we spent most of the time in the pool (day and night).

Rex suggested trying out the food at The Blue Water Resort and it was a fab hotel – we went back twice.

The trip south to see turtles, masks, coral and the cute fort of Galle, was also enjoyable.

Thank you for having us in your beautiful villa. We hope we can return one day.

Meg, Danny and Isabella.

What a wonderful calm and replenishing holiday! Mr. Thilak and Pushpa have been attentive and extremely helpful. Rex took us to the most amazing local places.

All in a fantastic experience!

Mr. Thilak and Pushpa should start giving cookery lessons. We We are going home 2 stone heavier from fantastic food.

Great place, great people.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in the villa, and what a wonderful time we've had! This place is absolutely fabulous and we had the most relaxing time we've had in years. The nature, the sound of the ocean, the villa, pool and garden will make you feel like you are in paradise. There are lovely people looking after the house, and who are the best hosts ever. Pushpa's cooking should get Michelin star and she was making sure we have all we need to feel as comfortable as possible. She was really caring when our little boy got sick, and Rex the driver was happy to help us in the middle of the night to look for pharmacies. He was also a wonderful guide on our daily trip.

There is a friendly dog - Nangi that our kids absolutely adored and who kept us company everywhere we went.

We felt so comfortable that we did not want to leave the house :)

There is lots of books in the house which is fantastic. What I would take for our next visit though would be few board games or pack of cards to play and keep the kids away from pool for couple of hours :)

Thank you Mr Olof, we had truly amazing holidays.

6 days in paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly memorable and relaxing time at the Ad Astra Villas. The villa was perfect for a family (4 and 5 year olds and grandparents) get away and we were pampered by Pushpa and the staff. While there is not to much to do in Wadduwa we happily whiled away the hours relaxing by the pool and enjoying the gardens and strolls on the beach. When we wanted to go out Rex was happy to assist with day trips and recommendations on what to see and do. The villa itself was spotlessly clean and with more than enough space for all of us.

All in all a great relaxing break for our family. At the end of the week we were reluctant to leave and we would definitely love to go back.

Owner's Response: Thank you soo much for your kind review, and thank you for not complaining about the pool tiles, which have shown a need to be changed. We will do that now in May, and I can promise you that when you return you will not only have a retiled pool but also softer beds and softer towels. Welcome back Olof

A truly memorable holiday

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this Villa for 10 days and were absolutely bowled over by its location and surroundings but the real impact and lasting impression has to be the wonderful local people we had the privilege of spending our time with. Pushpa cooked us amazing meals everyday of our stay and is such a lovely person, Rex organised excursions to Safari where we saw Leopards, Sloth bears as well as 3 week old Elephants roaming free in their natural habitat in Yala. Rex and Pushpa then took us off shopping and exploring in Rex's Tuk Tuk which was great fun and a real experience. Silva was our resident security guard making sure we were left free to enjoy our holiday uninterrupted and secure in the knowledge he was on hand whilst we were fast asleep in our beds. That's not to say we ever felt unsafe or threatened once but the piece of mind was very reassuring. Monica the Elephant came to visit the Villa and gave us all a ride up the beach and back as well as a fair well cuddle. If you are looking for a complete family relax and unwind then I think you would be hard pressed to beat a stay here. Olof the owner made booking and organising transfers to and from the airport very easy and we thank him and the wonderfully sincere and genuinely humble people who look after the Villa whilst he's not there for allowing us to share their little piece of paradise. We stayed in July and had very good weather - 30 to 32 degrees most days and only one night time storm which was actually quite exciting, but we were reminded by lots of people that we had come in the off season, but because of school term times and our Children's A' level and GCSE exam schedules could not come any other time of year, but we may well be back in high season when all that is over as we are led to believe the sea is very calm and tranquil in December. Chris, Lisa, Abi and Nat.

Antique dutch chairs and comfortable modern sofas provide relaxation. All bedrooms have thick mattresses and quality bedding and look out to the garden, stunning with Aralya and Coconut trees, Hibiscus plants and the sea. The style is modern, white with red, orange and shocking pink accessories. Please note that this is a no smoking house. A very friendly dog lives on the property. Most visitors and children in particular likes her a lot. The dog is looked after and cared for by the staff. Outside: A path designed as leaves in cement leads from the house to the swimming pool which is situated between the house and the beach. It is 16 meter long with an attached children pool and is surrounded by sun loungers. On the back side of the Villa is the tennis court. A tennis instructor can be booked by the house keeper. Surrounded by a tropical 1,5 acre garden complete with a 10-ft brick wall for security and privacy. The garden boasts of Hibiscus, Frangipanis and tropical plants in various colours. Wadduwa is the center for coconut fibre production and provides the opportunity to look at the villagers working in their gardens. Next door we have a Coconut Sap plantation where the workers climb the coconuts early morning to empty the sap – and the flying foxes come in at night to get drunk hanging in the trees. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels, linen and even pool towels are included. Our staff will clean the villa daily. Bedlinen will be changed every 3 days. Laundry and ironing service is available at a minimum charge. Other: In front of the house, facing the sea, is a large roofed terrace for perfect shade and for enjoying the sunset while dining at our table for 8 or for casual reading in our lounge chairs.
