The property is set in a very peaceful location in a rural valley well away from any main roads. Both gites have plenty of rural character and charm with beamed ceilings, stone walls and terracotta floors, and have been converted from an original stone barn. The charming bastide village of Castelnau de Montmiral is about 6 minutes away by car and the shop has fresh bread and croisants. The nearest town is Gaillac which has numerous supermarkets and also has some very attractive architecture in the old part of town. The historic town of Albi, which was Toulouse Lautrec's birthplace, is about 30 minutes drive from the property. The rose city of Toulouse is about 40 minutes drive away and the international airport of Toulouse Blagnac is about 45 minutes drive from the property. Tennis, golf, horse riding, canoeing and mapped walks are all available nearby. The countryside is wonderfully varied with oak forests, gorges and vineyards to visit.

The nearest international airport is Toulouse Blagnac, which is about 45 minutes drive from the property. Rodez airport is about one and a half hours drive away and is serviced by Ryan Air as is Carcassonne airport, which is also about one and a half hours drive from the property. If renting the property a car is essential. There is a very good train service from Gaillac to Toulouse and in the other direction to the town of Albi.
The property is about 6 minutes drive from the village of Castelnau de Montmiral, where there is a grocery shop, bar and restaurant and chemist and also a doctors' surgery.
The town of Gaillac is about 12 minutes drive away. It has a very attractive old part of town and has all the usual services and several supermarkets on the outskirts of the town.
Many very beautiful bastide villages in the area and the historic town of Albi with its magnificent cathedral is 35 minutes drive away.
All the local towns and villages have thriving market days and there is a good variety of restaurants in the area.
Rock climbing and canoeing on the l' Aveyron river is popular and horse riding and tennis are easily available.
During July and August there are many different fetes and apero concerts to visit in the local villages and towns which are full of local character.

If you are interested in booking one of the properties (or both), please e-mail or telephone us with the dates you are interested in and we will confirm if they are available or not. The procedure then is to make a provisional booking and to print our booking form off our website fill it in and send it back to us with a 25% deposit. The receipt of the booking form and deposit will be confirmed by email and the booking will then be secure. The balance is to be paid 8 weeks before arrival.
The changeover day is normally Saturday, and we ask guests to arrive from 4.00pm. onwards and to leave on the Saturday of departure not later than 10.00am. Out of full season we may be able to be flexible on the arrival and departure days.
