A perfect holiday home!

  • 5 of 5

Five of us and two small dogs had a very happy holiday staying at Goodlands. Lots of room inside and out. A very well equipped kitchen. Sofas and chairs you could go to sleep in after a day spent walking and fossil hunting! In fact everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The meal we had at Hunters Lodge was delicious. Abbotsbury sub-tropical gardens was a lovely day out and dog-friendly. Axminster is very good for shopping and a delightful market town. Try the River Cottage Canteen! Perfect food, if a little pricey. Unfortunately it was not possible to leave the dogs at home, even for a very short time so everywhere we went had to be dog-friendly. The six acres of meadow for exercise were not secure enough for two small dogs. They could easily have slipped under the gates if not watched all the time. Otherwise it was a perfect holiday home; bright, clean and airy with everything we could possibly need.

Owner's Response: Delighted our guests enjoyed their stay and found Goodlands comfortable and within a very short walk of the local Inn that serves food. Gates around the property and the 6 acres of field are standard 5 bar wooden ones and yes tiny little dogs might slip under. There is very good hedging that is impenetrable all around. A good point to point out to others. Thank you for leaving Goodlands tidy. I hope you will visit again one day. Many thanks for taking the time to post a review to assist others with their holiday choice. Joy

The Property was perfect for a week of mooching around West Dorset/East Devon

  • 5 of 5

The property is on the A35 which for us was perfect to get out and about quickly avoiding the little lanes until absolutely necessary, a little bit of road noise but it was not an issue with the double glazing.

The facilities were very good with a bathroom, shower room and separate toilet. Many holiday lets don't have very usable private washing/toilet arrangements for a small group.

The kitchen was a good size with all the amenities you would want, dishwasher etc and there is a separated laundry room.

There were comfortable seats for all in the evening and a nice separate dining area.

If you have children or you are just big kids there are several acres of enclose meadow that the property sits on to run around in.

I suppose I am saying it's a home from home.

Joy the owner is only 5 minutes away so any problems are quickly and cheerfully dealt with.

Owner's Response: Delighted our guests enjoyed their stay at Goodlands and visiting the pub just a few minutes walk along the road for their good food. It's great that Goodlands is near the Hunters Lodge Inn, the Bus Stop, the Post Office and just a few minutes drive to the sea side at Lyme Regis on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast - perfect for fossil hunters year round! I know you found Goodlands warm and cosy and that you enjoyed your visit to nearby River Cottage - the celebrity chef's cookery school that also holds evening dinners - attended by folk from across the world. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write such lovely lines about Goodlands bungalow. I hope you visit again! Joy

Fantastic - superb quality

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend at 'Goodlands'. The quality of the accommodation in terms of comfort, furniture and equipment is first class. Everything, and every eventuality, is catered for.

There are simple and clear instructions left for the alarm, heating and kitchen equipment. Its a total stress free zone.

Well situated - 5 mins drive from Lyme Regis, 5 mins from River Cottage and 2 mins walk from a lovely country pub with excellent food, then what more could you want?

I will certainly be returning but only if Goodlands is available.

More than happy to discuss my thoughts if anyone wants more detail.

Thank you for staying again with us - it's fabulous to welcome return visitors to one of our several properties. You will have to try our one bedrooms properties with the Hot Tubs each next!! Best wishes Joy

Fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely, warm bungalow when visiting Lyme Regis to go fossil hunting and it was everything we had hoped for. The kitchen was particularly well equipped, the beds were ultra comfy, plenty of good quality towels, good wifi. The highlight for us was the real fire in the sitting room which we loved in the evenings. A great local pub serving excellent food was within walking distance. The owner made us feel very welcome and was extremely knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend to any families.
